** Description changed:

  Hi All,

  I recently upgraded to Ubuntu 18.04 (Bionic), which contains mutter 3.28
since some days.
  Now there are 2 big issues with gnome-shell and mutter on Wayland.

  One of the issues is that the gdm3 greeter is black when my second external
screen is connected.
  Now when I unplug the screen, I can see the greeter.

  But the biggest issue is that when logged in with Wayland, of of the screens
is completely black!
  Sometimes its my external screen who stays black, sometimes the internal
screen.

  Its black, but cursor seems to work on it ... Bit related to #18
  (closed)

  Now when I look at the logs, I see the following error alot!
  gnome-shell[4025]: Failed to set CRTC mode 1920x1080: Invalid argument
  Or when the other screen works:
  Failed to set CRTC mode 3840x2160: Invalid argument

  Please let me know when you need additional (debug) logging. Cause this
  issue needs to get fixed :)

  Thanks!

[Bug 1746949] [NEW] Terminal laggs (low fps) the whole desktop when fast output

2018-02-02 Thread Jean-Louis Dupond
Public bug reported:

Hi,

When using Wayland and gnome-terminal, the performance/fps of the whole
desktop is real low when gnome-terminal outputs alot of data.

This happens when you cat some logfile for example, or do a tail -f on a
quickly growing file.
The whole desktop feels sluggish then.

This is only the case on Wayland. on X-Server it goes perfectly!

[Test Case]

Open the PDF https://dl.ubnt.com/guides/edgemax/EdgeSwitch_ES-48_QSG.pdf and
scroll to page 7 for example.
This crashes every time.

[Bug 1203211] Re: Kernel 3.10.0-4 fails on graphical boot with i915

2013-07-21 Thread Jean-Louis Dupond
Ok I did some additional debugging.

update-initramfs -u -k 3.10.0-3-generic:
3.10.0-3 still boots fine, so update-initramfs doesn't break it.

update-initramfs -u -k 3.10.0-4-generic:
Neither does it fix the problem on -4 kernel

boot arguments:
The defaults are:
linux   /boot/vmlinuz-3.10.0-4-generic
root=UUID=af3a67b1-5cbf-48f1-b0b7-0848ae3017b4 ro   quiet splash modeset=1
pcie_aspm=force i915.i915_enable_rc6=1 i915.i915_enable_fbc=1
i915.lvds_downclock=1 $vt_handoff

When changing it to:
linux   /boot/vmlinuz-3.10.0-4-generic
root=UUID=af3a67b1-5cbf-48f1-b0b7-0848ae3017b4 ro   quiet splash $vt_handoff
the -4 kernel boots fine ...

What I also noticed it the following error:
[   23.139890] kvm_intel: Unknown parameter `nested'

This does NOT happen on -3 kernel. So it seems like modprobe or so is broken
for -4 kernel?!

[Bug 1018087] [NEW] Seek bar not working with left click

2012-06-26 Thread Jean-Louis Dupond
Public bug reported:

Hi!

There seems to be a bug in the GtkScale to seek in the song.
You can only drag the seek bar, and not click to change the position.

This is probably caused by a change in GtkScale on Gtk 3.5.

For example in gnome-control-center this was fixed with the following change:
http://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-control-center/commit/?id=9859ffbc27aca0a4f1a58412233498cdf846da70

Alot of other software seems to be affected.

System:
Ubuntu Quantal AMD64

[Bug 838101] Re: Locale settings not saved

I really think it should be possible to select nl_BE in the list.

Now you can add 'Nederlands (Belgie)', but after a restart it gets removed from
the interface.
This is really something we do not want here.

[Bug 850477] [NEW] locale not using the correct region

2011-09-14 Thread Jean-Louis Dupond
Public bug reported:

In the gnome-control-center we can set the wanted locale.
Here I see 'Engels' and 'Nederlands'.

Now I want 'Nederlands (Belgie)', so I add this.
It gets added without issues, but then I close it, logoff, login, and the
locale is still nl_NL instead of nl_BE.
Also the 'Nederlands (Belgie)' is gone from the list in gnome-control-center.

It saved the following in .profile:
export LANG="nl_BE.UTF-8"
export LANGUAGE="nl:en"
export LC_MESSAGES="nl_NL.UTF-8"
export LC_CTYPE="nl_NL.UTF-8"
export LC_COLLATE="nl_NL.UTF-8"

[Bug 816673] [NEW] Touchpad is not re-enabled after disable/enable

2011-07-26 Thread Jean-Louis Dupond
Public bug reported:

I got an issue with enabling/disabling my touchpad on oneiric.

With a shortkey I can perfectly disable my touchpad.
The icon shows its disabled.
Then I try to re-enable to touchpad, the correct icon is shown that it
re-enabled the touchpad.

But still the touchpad isn't enabled yet.

xinput list shows:

⎜   ↳ SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPadid=14   [slave  pointer  (2)]
This device is disabled

When I run: xinput set-prop 14 "Device Enabled" 1
My touchpad is working again.

[Bug 798951] Re: Applications menu fails to open due to change to /etc/xdg/menus/gnome-applications.menu

2011-07-15 Thread Jean-Louis Dupond
the debian/rules rename the file:

binary-install/gnome-menus::
mv debian/gnome-menus/etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu
debian/gnome-menus/etc/xdg/menus/gnome-applications.menu

Could be fine, but ofc all packages that try to read applications.menu fail.
Maby add symlink in the rules?

[Bug 612304] [NEW] When closing application, not always the application with the focus is closed

2010-08-01 Thread Jean-Louis Dupond
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: metacity

The issue is as following:

When multiple applications are open.
For example firefox & terminal.

Firefox has the focus, and terminal is also maximized in the backgroup.
But when you click on the close icon for firefox, not firefox (which has focus)
is closed, but terminal is shutdown.

This shouldn't happen, and made me to close the terminal multiple times
by accident.

[Bug 584287] Re: Unexpected X error (BadDrawable) causing metacity to abort in maverick

2010-06-01 Thread Jean-Louis Dupond
This seems to be caused by client side decoration patch.

That patch has the following change:
+--- a/gdk/x11/gdkscreen-x11.c
 b/gdk/x11/gdkscreen-x11.c
+@@ -241,9 +241,29 @@ gdk_screen_get_root_window (GdkScreen *screen)

++  else

++}
++
++  screen_x11->default_colormap = colormap;
++}
++
++  return screen_x11->default_colormap;

+
+ /**

This function is called but metacity, and there it crashes. When we
patch metacity to call gdk_screen_get_system_colormap, it doesn't crash
(that whats the patch of the ppa package of Fabien does).

So it looks like the bug isn't really a metacity bug, but more a gtk+2.0
bug.

I compiled gtk+2.0 without the client side decoration patch, and then
metacity doesn't have any issue!

[Bug 392081] Re: I've received yesterday a message with date of today !

2009-06-25 Thread Jean-Louis Dupond
Some mail-servers DO check it. For example Spam Assassin gives a bad
rating to mail when date is in future. But of course there are mail-
servers that don't do any checking on it!

[Bug 392081] Re: I've received yesterday a message with date of today !

2009-06-25 Thread Jean-Louis Dupond
The date in the mail is the date the mail has been sent on the sender.
If his clock is wrong then the date of the mail is wrong! This is just
the way email works! A lot of spam uses this to make sure its the newest
mail when you receive it!

[Bug 30739] Re: "Move to Trash" option misleading

2009-06-19 Thread Jean-Louis Dupond
Been looking @ this bug today. And it seems its not that easy to fix.
The nautilus-menu-provider only provides a function to ADD menu items.
But if we want to replace/rename a menu item, it would need some dirty
hacks in Nautilus!

Also nautilus-cd-burner is depreciated, and will be replaced by Brasero
in Gnome! So its not worth spending alot of time on this!
