[Bug 77984] Changing display brightness kills GDM

Binary package hint: gdm

On the latest release of Fiesty pressing + to modify
the display brightness kills GDM.  GDM does automatically restart.  This
is a ThinkPad Z61t.

$ uname -a

You're right; I do have the problem in xorg without gdm.  The error shown in
the log is:

Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11.  Server aborting
