[Bug 703302] Re: Toshiba Laptop battery not being detected

2011-01-25 Thread Jeremy Foshee
Hi tuxsage,

If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.
Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be
done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the
bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.
Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 197762] Re: file transfers on USB flash key (pendrive) or USB HDD are slowing down with time

2010-04-20 Thread Jeremy Foshee
Ted,
I couldn't agree more. I'm not sure I fall into what you would call
someone official in Ubuntu, but I am the Kernel Bug Triager. My stance on
these is to have reporters, with any deviation from the reported bug they think
is affecting them, file a new bug while subscribing to the bug they find
similar. In this fashion, they are able to test fixes against their reported
issue for the other reported bugs. The difficulty is in the push to consolidate
that seems to be afflicting some bug tragers. This is difficult to address, as
I am sure you can imagine.

For what it is worth, I appreciate that you take the time to look at
these issues and comment on them. Given that the nature of this bug
ticket has changed so much since it was reported, and given the fact
that no one here seems to be willing to continue work on their
respective bugs. I am marking this particular bug as Invalid. Those of
you affected by this whose bugs are marked as duplicates will need to
remove the duplicate designation. To the reporter, Amar Boudjerida,
please open a new bug for your issue and we will begin again.

To those of you who did not file a bug in favor of marking this bug 'me
too', please file a bug with your collected data and a clear description
of the issue in both the bug title and the description fields so that we
may work them as appropriate.

Ted, I'd like for you and I to chat a bit about the best way to go about
the ubuntu kernel bug filing process if you are open to it. I think
between us we can get this to a better place.

Thanks!

[Bug 44058] Re: suspend when closing laptop lid doesn't work

Hi Matthijs,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development
release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid. However, note you can only
test Suspend, not Hibernate, when using a LiveCD. If the issue remains,
run the following command from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal) it will automatically gather and
attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 44058

Also, please be sure to take a look at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspendHibernateResume . If you
can provide any additional information outlined there it would be much
appreciated.

Additionally, if you could try to reproduce this with the upstream
mainline kernel that would be great. It will allow additional upstream
developers to examine the issue. Refer to
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This
can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag
located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-
upstream-testing' text. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 384000] Re: Detecting V4L2 devices failed for AIPTEK (Philips) OV511+ webcam in ekiga

2010-03-13 Thread Jeremy Foshee
Hi Jay,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a
Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically
gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 384000

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your
results.

Thanks in advance.

[This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 472347] Re: After wakeup from sleep, gnome-power-manager does not detect it is running on battery

2010-03-05 Thread Jeremy Foshee
Aniruddh,
Please test against the latest daily build of lucid. You can use the
daily live ISO. Let me know if this is resolved as the patch should have made
it into the kernel via stable branch updates.

Thanks!

nameiner,
 Thanks for your testing. :)

Aniruddh,
This doesn't necessarily meet the requirement for an SRU, but I will
inquire with the Kernel Engineers to see what their thoughts are on the subject.

Thanks!

I've read the bug that this has been marked as a duplicate of, but I do not see
the same behavior. I have no screensaver set. The timing is a bit erratic, but
I tend to see it within 10 to 15 minutes of starting the game. When this occurs
there is no method by which I have been able to resume the game.

I've also done a swap back to the normal driver with the same behavior.
I am continuing to debug the scenario.
