[Bug 280920] [NEW] gnome-power-manager doesn't support thinkpad UltraBay batteries

2008-10-09 Thread Jojo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

GPM doesn't recognize TP UltraBay battery. I use T61p with ThinkPad
41U4890 battery. When UltraBay battery is inserted icon on gnome panel
shows that computer is working on AC. It shows only one battery present
which status is charged. It doesn't allow to change battery to be
charged/discharged first and to protect UltraBay battery from full
discharge.

Apparently GPM needs to be restarted in order to recognize second
battery. The issue needs further investigation.

[Bug 280920] Re: gnome-power-manager doesn't support thinkpad UltraBay batteries

2008-10-11 Thread Jojo
I tried to pinpoint the problem. Here are my findings:

When booting laptop with UltraBay battery inserted gnome-power-manager
recognizes 2 batteries properly. It even supports hot-swapping. You can
remove the UltraBay battery and plug-in dvd and it is fully recognized.
After removing dvd from UltraBay and inserting UltraBay battery once
more it is properly recognized by gnome-power-manager.

When booting laptop with with inserted UltraBay dvd and UltraBay battery
removed gnome-power-manager does not recognize UltraBay battery when it
is inserted later. Restarting gnome-power-manager doesn't solve a
problem.

The UltraBay battery is clearly visible through tp_smapi:

cat /sys/devices/platform/smapi/BAT1/model

always gives proper response when UltraBay battery is plugged-in

I think it might be acpi problem since it recognizes batteries during
boot:

[ 16.860864] ACPI: Battery Slot [BAT0] (battery present)
[ 16.900601] ACPI: Battery Slot [BAT1] (battery present)

or only

[ 18.071537] ACPI: Battery Slot [BAT0] (battery present)

[Bug 506124] [NEW] creating new label window should be better organized

2010-01-11 Thread Jojo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: f-spot

Creating new labels for photos becomes difficult when many labels
exists.

When you wish to add labels, marking for examaple people on photograph
it gets annoing to scroll through all parent tag list containing all
people.

Better way would be to present in a top combobox only main parent tags.
After selecting main tag secondary combobox could show up allowing to
choose child tag. TextEntry would allow to add new child tag.

Main tags -> Select existing child tags or add new child tag

if existing child tag selected and more child tags available

[Bug 275834] [NEW] gnome power manager tooltip and menu values doesn't match

2008-09-29 Thread Jojo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

I'm testing Intrepid with gnome-power-manager 2.24.0. When I move cursor
on Battery icon in gnome panel a tooltip shows 89,6% battery capacity,
but when I left click on battery a menu pops up and shows in polish
"Akumulator laptopa 84%".

The value shown on tooltip changes with battery dis-/charging. The
battery shown in menu also changes but values never match.

One thing to be noticed. I use Thinkpad T61p and often change maximum
charge treshold with

Re: [Bug 405667] Re: gnome-keyring-daemon crashed with signal 5 in g_thread_join()

2009-08-23 Thread jojo
I have a similar issue. My volume icon is always muted. When I increase the
volume, it goes to back minimum (mute) in a couple mins.

[Bug 93377] Re: unable to capture a screenshot with pop-up boxes

2007-03-18 Thread Jojo
Pop-up boxes like those which are shown in yellow boxes when you put
cursor on sth. For examaple a speaker icon in gnome-panel (it shows
volume in %) or mozilla shortcut in gnome-panel (there is a description
in yellow box) or "switch between workspaces".

[Bug 1734541] [NEW] encrypted home-directory is not unmounted on logout

2017-11-26 Thread Jojo
Public bug reported:

Current Situation:

If you log out from an user account with an encrypted home directory, it
is not automatically unmounted and encrypted again.

Expected behaviour:

If I log out from an user account with an encrypted home directory, Id expect
the homedir to be unmounted and encrypted again.
Stepts to reproduce:

log into an account with encrypted home directory. (lets call it: user)
Log out again
log into another account (which has sudo rights, lets call it: user2)

and now enter the following into a terminal:

user2@ubuntu: sudo su
user2@ubuntu: ls -la /home/user

you can see the files of the user

Reasons:
This is a security issue, because as a user you can reasonable expect your data
to be safe, if you log out. if you would simply log in as another user but keep
your data accessable you would simply switch user, instead of loggin out.
Many users only suspend their laptop while carrying it with them. Logging out
and suspending the user expects to have at least the home directory encrypted.
