[Bug 2077641] Re: Doesn't allow filtering all installed applications
a) Those changes are really just syncing from the oracular package. Not strictly needed, but those minimum versions are all in noble, so harmless and eased things by keeping it more in sync with what's in oracular. b) I thought the oracular watch file was part of the noble update, I'll cherry-pick that and upload it again c) Yes, flatpak support does work with this patch. It wasn't actually useful for flatpak either prior to this patch d) As this will be used by the OEMs it would be good to ship 0.12 which has some nice polish and it should be part of the GNOME MRU. And given that the version in noble previously wasn't usable on Ubuntu, the regression potential isn't there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to malcontent in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2077641 Title: Doesn't allow filtering all installed applications To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/malcontent/+bug/2077641/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 2077641] [NEW] Doesn't allow filtering all installed applications
Public bug reported: The malcontent package today doesn't really work as a user would expect in Ubuntu. Known issues today: * Only allows blocking flatpak apps * Allow/Deny app installation only effects user installable flatpaks via GNOME Software, which isn't included in Ubuntu. On a default Ubuntu Desktop installation enabling/disabling software installation has no effect. [ Impact ] * The update to 0.12 includes bug fixes related to search as well as additional translations * Ubuntu patches applied enable filter any app installed on the system * Hides the UI for enabling/disabling app installation as that switch doesn't actually do what a user would expect on Ubuntu * Removes documentation related to the software installation UI [ Test Plan ] * Ensure gnome-control-center >= 1:46.3-0ubuntu0.24.04.1 is installed * Add a new non-admin user with gnome-control-center * Selecting "Parental Controls" in the UI after creating the new account should open the malcontent-control dialog * Click unlock and enter your password to allow updating the app filter * The dialog should only show two entries under "Application Usage Restrictions", "Restrict Web Browsers" and "Restrict Applications" * Select "Restrict Applications" should open a dialog showing all apps * Toggle the switch for an app and close the dialog * Login to a user session with the restricted user account and confirm the application icon isn't show in the GNOME app grid [ Regression Potential ] * Very low, malcontent isn't included in Ubuntu by default, and even if it was installed, it wasn't accessible from gnome-control-center as that was disabled until the SRU of gnome-control-center=1:46.3-0ubuntu0.24.04.1 * malcontent-control was accessible from the command line, but would only allow filtering flatpak apps that included X-Parental-Control in the desktop file ** Affects: malcontent (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Fix Released ** Affects: malcontent (Ubuntu Jammy) Importance: Medium Assignee: Ken VanDine (ken-vandine) Status: New ** Affects: malcontent (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: High Assignee: Ken VanDine (ken-vandine) Status: New ** Also affects: malcontent (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: malcontent (Ubuntu Jammy) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: malcontent (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released ** Changed in: malcontent (Ubuntu Jammy) Assignee: (unassigned) => Ken VanDine (ken-vandine) ** Changed in: malcontent (Ubuntu Noble) Assignee: (unassigned) => Ken VanDine (ken-vandine) ** Changed in: malcontent (Ubuntu Jammy) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: malcontent (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: Undecided => High ** Summary changed: - Doesn't allow filtering any installed applications + Doesn't allow filtering all installed applications -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to malcontent in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2077641 Title: Doesn't allow filtering all installed applications To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/malcontent/+bug/2077641/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1955850] Re: /etc/X11/Xresources no longer loaded, error in patch
This seems to be preventing the Regolith X11 desktop session from properly initializing. Due to this bug, the gdm3-produced Xsession does not initialize xrdb, which is a required component in Regolith. While a workaround seems simple enough, I guess any X11-based gdm3 session with applications that use Xresources may not be properly initialized on a system with this bug. I've tried removing them all, and still seeing the crash. Of interest though, it looks like only some apps using the indicator are triggering the crash. For example, starting mattermost-desktop or discord triggers the crash when it registers the appindicator. But starting telegram- desktop doesn't. [Bug 1988315] Re: gnome-shell crash with wayland on kinetic
I tried disabling the system extensions and logging in again, which did work. I was able to reenable them all and gnome-shell was still working again. Then of interest, launching an app that uses an appindicator caused the shell to crash. I can reliably reproduce this, the appindicator extension is triggering the crash. I can confirm it happens to me also in 21.04. The PDF opens fine for me but the instant I hit print the evince process pegs the CPU and stays there indefinitely. Files are on the local disk. x86_64 architecture. The most recent PDF that did this to me is here: https://www.lcps.org/site/handlers/filedownload.ashx?moduleinstanceid=305856&dataid=381294&FileName=New%20Health%20form%20MCH-213G-032014.pdf Printing worked fine with 20.04, then I upgraded to 21.04 about a month ago and have not been able to print a PDF ever since. [Bug 1917926] [NEW] Window focus issues in 3.38.3-3ubuntu1
Public bug reported: I switched to an Xorg session in hirsute today after upgrading gnome- shell and mutter packages which just hit the release package. There are very strange focus issues. Clicking on a window doesn't raise it to the front, alt-tab seems to only switch between a subset of the one windows. It's impossible to move windows with the mouse and resizing does not work. This occurred with: gnome-shell=3.38.3-3ubuntu1 mutter=3.38.3-3ubuntu1 Downgrading these packages fixed it: gnome-shell=3.38.3-2ubuntu2 mutter=3.38.3-2ubuntu1 ** Affects: mutter (Ubuntu) Importance: Critical Status: Triaged ** Tags: rls-hh-incoming -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1917926 Title: Window focus issues in 3.38.3-3ubuntu1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1917926/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
