[Bug 648456] [NEW] Copying huge amounts of data very slow

2010-09-26 Thread LCID Fire
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When I copy e.g. 100GB to an external drive (2TB, connected via eSata) the
transfer rate starts at about 50MB/s and soon drops to 13MB/s. Both drives are
ext4.
One thing I found quite strange is that while copying it used 400MB of swap
space although free said there was still 1.4GB of RAM available. Maybe some
kind of swapping slows the reading down!?
Might be same as bug #541937 (although then it's not only related to the link
type).

1. I don't know because I don't know how to solve the issue.
But it seems to be a gnome panel bug since I switched to awn today and it shows
all the notification icons fine.
As a side note - I have the panel background transparency enabled- could this
screw things up?

[Bug 329083] Re: no rmb menu

2009-02-13 Thread LCID Fire
1. Steps are:
- Open f-spot
- Click with the right mouse button on a photo in fspot
- Look at the photo

2.
I'd expect a menu popping up which says "Copy location", "Open With", etc.

3.
All I see is a small empty box - seems like a menu without items

In contrast the rmb menu on tags is working fine.

[Bug 289625] [NEW] [intrepid] no sound for some videos

2008-10-26 Thread LCID Fire
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

Since upgrading to intrepid I have the situation where on some videos I get no
sound. It does not work with totem-gstreamer or gxine. The interesting thing is
- opening these files with avidemux the sound plays fine - so I suspect the
others are messing up somewhere along the way.
AFAIS the only audio that is concerned is mp3 and mp2 - although I have to say
that it's not a general rule - the other half of files with mp3 and mp2 play
fine. I also don't see anything that's similar between these files. Totem shows
N/A as the Audio Codec - and on some file it shows the correct one.
Pretty strange behaviour.

[Bug 146946] Re: [gutsy] Gnome settings daemon randomly does not work

2008-03-27 Thread LCID Fire
Well the problem is that the error message is just crap. I mean basicly it says
- "hey something went wrong but I don't tell you what". So IMO the first thing
to do is to replace this one with a more sophisticated error handling (I know
it takes a lot of work - but how many of such bug reports do you want to end up
with?).
Second - for me (and it seems for all others) the initial problem from gutsy
seems fixed in hardy.
BUT - since the error message is general - other bugs, like the one Damiano is
stating, are being brought up here.

It doesn't happen everytime - but I get quite a few crashes (with

many programs have bugs or just the glib is buggy currently.

Are you joking me? Gstreamer does not play DVDs and has serious issues

[Bug 111606] Re: Totem does (mostly) not display video output on external monitor

2007-05-17 Thread LCID Fire
I use Feisty + totem-xine - but I already have this problem since Edgy (I
thought it was working in Dapper - but I'm not sure anymore). Strange thing is
- I also have a Omnibook with a i830 chipset - and it's the same behaviour
there - which makes me kind of suspect that it is more xorg than driver related.
Also when I use mplayer with opengl output it works fine.

totem-xine. And it is not quite right - SOMETIMES (don't ask me under
what conditions) it works after some seconds. But 95% it doesn't.

[Bug 111606] Totem does (mostly) not display video output on external monitor

2007-05-01 Thread LCID Fire
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

I have a Radeon Mobility M6 LY on my laptop, and I am using the ati module for
xorg. When I try to play a video I get the ouput on the laptop's screen just
fine - but no output on the external monitor.
BUT if I open a video in the browser (via totem-plugin) the external monitor
shows the output just fine, too!? It works as long as I have a video opened in
the browser.

[Bug 70394] Support of file move operations would be nice

2006-11-05 Thread LCID Fire
Public bug reported:

I often would like to move files away from my harddrive to a dvd. I have
to drag the files onto the dvd creator - burn them and the manually
remove them from the drive. It would be far nicer if I could force to
move the files to the dvd using the shift key and after the burn was
successfull they would get automaticly deleted from my harddrive.

[Bug 68897] Re: Doesn't play sound

It might be present in edgy when you install from scratch - but I
upgraded from dapper and it was NOT installed. I had to do this
manually. Therefor IMHO this is a configuration problem - I'd call it a
bug...

[Bug 68897] Re: Doesn't play sound

2006-10-29 Thread LCID Fire
I installed alsa-oss and libesd-alsa0 and now it works. Whereas I think
it's installing the latter that fixed the problem. Could anyone tell me
what the difference between esd and esd-alsa is? I previously thought
esd used alsa as it's output no matter what...
