[Bug 151253] Lock screen causes X to crash
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver Well, it's all in the subject. When I hit "lock screen" or my screensaver activates and wants to lock the screen, X crashes and after a few seconds I get a new gdm login prompt. This is on an HP Compaq nc6320 in a docking station with an external HP1740 17" screen. I guess the issue might be related to the dual-screen setup. VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) I don't think I'm the only one with this problem, check http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=60671 , but I couldn't find an existing bug report for the issue. ** Affects: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Lock screen causes X to crash https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/151253 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-screensaver in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 106350] Metacity crash corrupts future Gnome sessions
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: metacity I'm not sure what's the cause of this, but I have this problem on two different HP Companc nc6320 laptops. After loging in, all saved Windows from my previous session are restored, but on top of each other and without Window manager elements (no title bar, close button, resize possibility...). The only way to get a working Gnome again, is by removing the .gnome2 folder. The problem only appeared in Feisty around 10 april on my first machine and today on the second, so I guess it's a new Feisty bug. On this machine, I've found a metacity crash report, with a timestamp from the moment I shut down the machine yesterday.

[Bug 106350] Re: Metacity crash corrupts future Gnome sessions
Today my system crashed again and I made a screenshot to illustrate the problem (attached). I also have a new metacity crash report dated at the moment of my previou shutdown. I'll upload it if it's usefull to analyse a third one. I can confirm now that everything works fine again after removing just $HOME/.gnome2/session (so you don't need to remove the complete .gnome2 directory). ** Attachment added: "crashed.png" http://librarian.launchpad.net/7350504/crashed.png -- Metacity crash corrupts future Gnome sessions https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106350 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee.
I have the "save session option" on, so it might be possible that part of the crashed state is "saved" in my session or something like that. ** Affects: metacity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Metacity crash corrupts future Gnome sessions https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106350 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for metacity in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
