[Bug 954092] Re: Nautilus desktop misplaced, when attaching attaching a second monitor

2012-05-30 Thread Luke Scharf
After a recent update, Nautilus now behaves properly if I killall
nautilus and then restart it, after pugging in the external monitor. If
I have Nautilus running and I plug in the monitor, it still behaves as
showin the screenshots that I provided.

It's good progress, but I still want to keep the bug alive.

[Bug 954092] [NEW] Nautilus desktop misplaced, when attaching attaching a second monitor

2012-03-13 Thread Luke Scharf
Public bug reported:

When attaching a second screen display to my laptop when I get to my
office in the morning, Nautilus attempts to span both displays, but the
Nautilus desktop only spans one display.

I've attached a screenshot showing both the effect, and my display-
configuration dialog box.

Workaround:
   killall nautilus
Immediately after I attach my secondary desktop, then open a Nautilus window
from the Activities screen.

[Bug 832343] Re: Folder unread message counts don't match reality or message pane

I'm running oneiric-proposed on my main laptop, so I'll verify that the
bug still exists when I get a chance. (Probably in the next day or
two.)

Thanks,

[Bug 874563] [NEW] Thunderbird / Lightning not an option for calendar in Systems Settings - System Info - Default Applications

2011-10-14 Thread Luke Scharf
Public bug reported:

Thunderbird / Lightning not an option for calendar in Systems Settings
- System Info - Default Applications. The only option is gedit.

When I open the indicator-calendar applet, and click on open calendar,
the error message indicates that it tried to start Evolution, which is
not installed on my system.

Both Lightning and Messaging Menu for Unity Launcher Integration
thunderbitd add-ons are installed via Ubuntu packages. Also, the
calendar widget doesn't seem to be picking up my calendar-appointments,
though it has worked at times in the recent past.

[Bug 843293] [NEW] Wishlist: Hover-browse when dragging files

2011-09-06 Thread Luke Scharf
Public bug reported:

I wish that Nautilus would implement a hover-browse feature, similar to
that in Mac OS X.

Here's how it works:
1. I start dragging (copy or move) a file or directory
2. I hover the mouse for a predetermined interval (2-5 seconds) over a Place
or a folder.
3. Nautilus automatically browses to the folder. Process repeats for any
sub-folders that I choose. A Sproing sound is appropriate auditory feedback.
4. I release the mouse button.
5. The copy begins.
6. Nautilus returns to the original path.

A system that implements this well: Finder in Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

Alternatives / Workarounds:
1. The Extra Pane in Nautilus.
2. pushd and popd in bash.

The existing Nautilus GUI is fully usable with the Extra Pane and/or
with Tabs, so this really is just a wishlist request. However, I've
been using the Mac OS X GUI a lot lately, and so I'm accustomed to this
feature and I like it. It seems like an intuitive way to move files
around. Also, if you're sitting there wondering if you should drop a
file into a particular folder or Place, revealing its contents seems
like just the information you'd need to make the dscision.

[Bug 843301] [NEW] Wishlist: Full path (or partial path) in Nautilus tab-titles

2011-09-06 Thread Luke Scharf
Public bug reported:

I wish that I could configure Naituls tab-titles to contain the full
path, or the right-most portion of the path (if the path is too long).

Instead of Documents, I would prefer the tab to say ~/Documents/ or
/home/lukescharf/Documents/ or ...arf/Documents/

As a long-time Unix user who is trying to use Unity and trying to use
Nautilus for serious file-management for the first time (I used to
always use bash), the tabs just don't look like they have anything to do
with the filesystem if they don't have some slashes in them.

I understand that users who don't have years of shell experience under
their belts probably prefer existing tab-title format. Having this be
an option buried in the Nautilus preferences seems like a good way to
split the difference.

I really do like the way nautilus browses with the horizontal stack of
directory-buttons. Despite its lack of slashes, it looks like a
filesystem to me, and it looks like it should do pretty well in
usability trials. But I can't figure out a way to make that into a tab-
title. If anyone does figure out a way to do this, it would be the
perfect way to address the issue that I'm thinking about. And maybe
I'll learn to look for the existing tabs-titles over time.

This is a low priority issue, even on the wishlist, but I still thought
it was worth mentioning.

[Bug 832343] [NEW] Folder unread message counts don't match reality or message pane

2011-08-23 Thread Luke Scharf
Public bug reported:

When accessing e-mail via imapx off of a Google Domains gmail account,
the message-read counts in the folder diverge from reality, and also
from the messages shown in the message pain over the course of a day.

To workaround, I do the following:
1. Close evolution (and check to make sure it's done with ps auxww | grep -i
evolution)
2. rm
~/.local/share/evolution/mail/imapx/lukesch...@clusterbee.net@imap.gmail.com/.ev-store-summary

~/.local/share/evolution/mail/imapx/lukesch...@clusterbee.net@imap.gmail.com/folders.db

3. Restart evolution and check mail in all folders

Evolution's tight integration with Ubuntu unity is discouraging me from
changing to Thunderbird -- but this bug is driving me crazy. Surely
other people are experiencing it, as well.
