[Bug 994527] [NEW] Gimp Toolbox and Layers, etc. docks obscured by Unity Launcher and Panel
Public bug reported: When Gimp is run after a fresh install on 12.04 Precise Pangolin, the Toolbox and the Layers, etc. Docks are located in the top-left and top- right corners of the screens such that they are partially obscured by the Unity Launcher and Top Panel. This results in the Toolbox, in particular, being unusable, because some of the buttons are inaccessible. It is not possible to move the docks away from these positions. I was able to work around this problem by changing the "Window Management Hints" in "Preferences/Window Management" from "Utility" to "Normal". After closing and reloading the Gimp, this places the docks in normal windows that are clear of the Launcher and Top Panel and able to be relocated. However, this will not be obvious to a new user. [Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets
To All, As an experiment, I have adjusted the positions of the panel applets to leave some space between them and then added separators. After a few days, I have not seen any visual corruption. However, as this is an intermittent problem, I can't be sure that these changes have actually made any difference. If anyone else would like to try this, it might be useful to see if this could be an easy work-around. [Bug 164120] Re: file manager hangs when mounted nfs drive is no longer accessible
If it's any help, I think this bug actually arises from a change in kernel behavior introduced after version 2.6.22 and fixed in kernels from 2.6.33. I added the 3 second delay to 2 machines and they have not seen the problem for about a week - until this morning. I now have the time entry corrupted on one of these machines. [Bug 282315] Re: Gnome-sudoku timings all wrong
Actually, it appears that a patch has been submitted for this problem (see https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=556932#c10). I don't know how long it will take for this to filter through to Ubuntu. Maybe it will be fixed in Lucid. [Bug 282315] Re: Gnome-sudoku timings all wrong
I have also found that Sudoku in Karmic always reports game times of about 58 seconds. After having a bit of a look around the source, it seems that the problem relates to the autosave function. Autosave is triggered ever 60 seconds (or the time set by gconf /apps/gnome- sudoku/auto_save_interval). On each autosave, the module saver.py triggers a "timer.finish_timing" event. This stops the timer and means that the final reported game time will be incorrect. I found that by setting the autosave interval to a large number (I used 6), autosave is effectively disabled and the timer works correctly. I also tried setting this to zero, but this just causes the program to default to 60 seconds. I'm not sure if there are any serious consequences of disabling the autosave feature. I guess it just means that the game state could be lost if the session is ended unexpectedly. [Bug 164120] Re: nautilus hangs when mounted nfs drive is no longer accessible
Actually, I think this bug is related to problem with mount.nfs trying to mount an export on a non-existent server. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nfs-utils/+bug/234480. This problem has appeared in Ubuntu Hardy but not in Gutsy. By the way, I don't see why a design flaw couldn't be a bug. (I think Microsoft would call a design flaw a "feature") :-) -- nautilus hangs when mounted nfs drive is no longer accessible https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/164120 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 164120] Re: nautilus hangs when mounted nfs drive is no longer accessible
I am seeing this problem with the updated nfs-common package in Hardy. As shown below, I get about a 38 second hang when attempting to mount an export from an off-line server. The same thing on Gutsy produces a "No route to host" message and returns in about 3 seconds.
