[Bug 1473943] [NEW] root directory inconsistencies in sftp mounts in file manager

2015-07-13 Thread Matthew Marks
Public bug reported:

I have a Debian server on 192.168.1.2, and would like to mount its file
system root using the File Manager. So I select "Connect to Server" and
enter

sftp://root@192.168.1.2 (plus any number of trailing slashes!)

The resulting network mount that appears in the Places column calls
itself "root on 192.168.1.2" (as does the navigation button at the top)
and the tool-tip says "sftp://192.168.1.2/root";. As might be expected,
I cannot navigate below /root (the root user's home directory) to the
root of the file system. (I would like to, but I haven't found a way of
specifying the Server Address to achieve this.)

But now the inconsistency. If I bring up a file open dialogue in
another application and click on the identically-named network mount in
the Places column, this time it *does* open the file system root, and
the navigation button is labelled "/ on 192.168.1.2".

I would expect the File Manager and open file dialogues to display the
same point in the remote hierarchy when the mount point is selected -
preferably what the open file dialogue does as it is impossible to get
to the remote server's file system root in the File Manager.

[Bug 997962] Re: rsvg-convert does not correctly convert graduated text

2012-05-11 Thread MarkS
Should have said. File was created in InkScape and displays and edits
correctly in there. Can't use InkScape's PNG export as multiple sizes
are required and this would quickly become very tedious so a scriptable
convert of all the graphics assets into the required sizes is required.

[Bug 221409] Re: Ubuntu Browse Multiple Files dialog does not recognize capital / uppercase JPG as image

2010-07-29 Thread Marks Petz
I used GIMP - which automatically gave an uppercase sic - JPEG - IF GIMP
gave a lower case sic - jpeg. It would save having to batch process or
change individually.

I wanted to upload an image using flash plugin in facebook. It works
fine with uppercase images from Windows 7. Just from Ubuntu, using
firefox do I have a problem. The flash does not see the files to select.
AS in when I browse to the folder I see only the lower case files to
select from.

[Bug 545972] [NEW] gdm upgrade loses customization of disable_user_list

2010-03-24 Thread MarkS
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

I choose not to use the user list in GDM as I consider it a security
issue. Fortunately it is relatively easy to do this with a gconf
command. The only problem is that whenever GDM is upgraded it resets the
setting to package default. GDM should honour user settings or should at
least ask in the same way the debconf does.

[Bug 502514] [NEW] [karmic] evolution does not display some emails

2010-01-02 Thread Jeremy Marks
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Ubuntu 9.10. Evolution 2.28 connecting via evolution-mapi 0.28.1 to
Exchange 2007. When previewing some email messages for a second time,
only headers are displayed, i.e. no text. Opening the email similarly
shows only headers. Accessing the same mailbox via a web interface shows
that the email text is intact. It is the same emails each time that show
only headers. Quitting and restarting evolution does not fix the
problem.

[Bug 402967] Re: jitter when clicking on gtksourceview component

2009-09-11 Thread Stuart Marks
I was able to duplicate simply by opening a multi-line text document and
double clicking to select various words/lines. It became easily
noticeable when following those steps.

Re: [Bug 191027] Re: "Failed to connect stream: Invalid argument"

2009-04-25 Thread MarkS

I probably should have stuck with windows or a Mac, because I'm just not
following this. I think this is the stream that I started when I noticed the
movie player wasn't playing any sort of content. I'm hoping it is just a
setting I have to adjust. I'm not terribly proficient yet with downloading or
more accurately, installing, new programs in Ubuntu.
Thanks,
Decidedly not geeky enough for Linux

I am unable to play any type of content in Totem,
and, the opening Melodie (when the computers starts) sounds awfully...
I'm using the latest alpha development version of Hardy...
Update1: I'm also having trouble within Rhythmbox, so I did an Hardware report
and then I uploaded it within the Hardware collection tool in Ubuntu, because I
think there is some pro
blem in ubuntu and the system isn't using my sound card
correctly.
Update2: The same error happens in the Sound control panel : System ->
Preferences -> Sound

[Bug 131295] Re: System Monitor system tab does not show all CPUs

2007-08-23 Thread MarkS
I don't have any header files installed on that machine. It's a straight
install of Ubuntu 7.04 Desktop x64.

Sebastien - could you add this BUFSIZ information from the standard
build? Or should I install some of the dev headers and try it?

[Bug 131295] Re: System Monitor system tab does not show all CPUs

2007-08-23 Thread MarkS
Attached a new cpuinfo file, the desktop machine was unavailable when I
generated the cpuinfo.txt so that came from an identical system running
Ubuntu 7.04 Server. The python run was performed on the desktop machine
that shows the problem.

Note, the problem exists only on the "System" tab, i.e. the left most
tab that shows the OS version, CPUs and system status. The graphs page
shows all 8 cores correctly so it looks like the underlying libraries
correctly enumerate things but the UI just doesn't have space to list
all the CPUs. I did notice in the output from the python run that it
sees them as 2 CPUs each with 4 cores which is is correct. So maybe a
better way of listing them would be to list the actual physical CPUs and
then have an expander to list the cores for a particular CPU?

Output from python in attached files.

Eight CPUs are shown in resources tab but the initial state is for the
last four to all have the same colour (red).

[Bug 131295] Re: System Monitor system tab does not show all CPUs

2007-08-09 Thread MarkS
Version is 2.18.1.1.

Obviously the colour issue on the resources tabs is easily fixed by the
user selecting their own colours so is quite trivial.

Screen shot attached.

[Bug 131295] System Monitor system tab does not show all CPUs

2007-08-09 Thread MarkS
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor

On Dell PowerEdge 1950, dual quad core Xeon only the first 5 CPUs are
listed on the gnome-system-monitor system tab. This list should if
possible auto-resize to accomodate any number of CPU cores.

Also the automatic colour selection for the CPU time graphs on the
resources tab uses the same red colour for the last four CPUs.
