Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or

issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May
you please test with that version and comment back if you're still
having or not the issue? Please have a look at

[Bug 570511] [NEW] dual screen window assignment issue with launcher

2010-04-26 Thread Markus Schulz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Description:Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Release:10.04
gnome-panel:
  Installed: 1:2.30.0-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1:2.30.0-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 1:2.30.0-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://mirrors.xmission.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I have two screen with NVIDIA drivers 195.36.15 configured for
TwinView. This is just like one large desktop, but I have a total of
four panels (2 on each screen, top and bottom). I can move windows from
one screen to the other or put them in the middle. I have launchers for
Firefox on both screens. In the past (like =9.10) I was able to click
on the right launcher icon and Firefox opened on the right screen and
vis versa. But since I upgraded to 10.04 to 95% of the time Firefox
opens up only on the right side if I click on the left panel launcher
icon. I also have a Terminal and Thunderbird launcher that is working
like expected. I'm not sure if this is gnome-panel related, but I have
to start some where...

[Bug 570511] Re: dual screen window assignment issue with launcher

2010-04-26 Thread Markus Schulz
I just found that if I switch firefox to unmaximize and close the window
on the left screen the launcher works again. But I think in the past I
didn't had to do that, however I'm not 100% sure if I not coincidently
always did it like that.

As a workaround I found that if I use Devils Pie (gdevilspie in my
case) I can automaticly unmaximize firefox.

nonfree/+bug/410407/comments/153

Edwards fix for Linux noobs (like me...)

1. Starta a Terminal window.
2. Type: cd /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/i386/linux/
3. Type: sudo mv npviewer.bin npviewer.bin.real
4. Type: sudo pico npviewer.bin
5. Add these two lines of text to the file, i.e. Pico:
#!/bin/sh
GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=true /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/i386/linux/npviewer.bin.real $*
6. Press Ctrl+x to exit and save.
7. Type: sudo chmod 755 npviewer.bin

Done! Now enjoy the full splendor of flash-clicking!

[Bug 456523] Re: Distribution Upgrade to karmic freezes on gtk-doc-tools

2009-10-24 Thread Markus Schulz
Something in my profile was bad... gnome was not longer starting the
desktop... computer froze with black screen and round waiting mouse icon
not longer spinning... thanks to don't zap settings I can not longer
ctrl alt backspace the the system... the only way to recover was to boot
to recovery console (thanks to upstart this is also not working line in
the pase... always kicks me out because of mountall error???) and delete
the whole content of my home directory... this upgrade was a disaster!
Anyway... here are the files.
