[Bug 1764379] [NEW] [time-admin] Unlock-button is not working
Public bug reported: I just moved and I wanted to update the current time displayed in the system. I thus typed “time-admin”. A window opens, but most of its buttons are locked, except [Help], [Unlock], and [Close]. I thus clicked on [Unlock], but nothing happens. I guess that a window asking for my password was supposed to pop up. As a consequence, I can’t change my system clock. This is frustrating, as my system clock is 5 hour late and I need to adapt to my new time here. Here is what I got from the terminal: $ time-admin Gtk-Message: GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is discouraged. ** (time-admin:11965): WARNING **: Error acquiring permission: Failed to acquire permission for action-id org.freedesktop.systemtoolsbackends.set ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 17.10 Package: gnome-system-tools 3.0.0-6ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.13.0-38.43-generic 4.13.16 Uname: Linux 4.13.0-38-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.7-0ubuntu3.8 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: LXDE Date: Mon Apr 16 07:35:51 2018 InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-12-05 (496 days ago) InstallationMedia: Lubuntu 16.10 "Yakkety Yak" - Release amd64 (20161012.1) SourcePackage: gnome-system-tools UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to artful on 2018-01-17 (88 days ago) ** Affects: gnome-system-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug artful ** Attachment added: "Screenshot" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1764379/+attachment/5117905/+files/capture.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-system-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1764379 Title: [time-admin] Unlock-button is not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-system-tools/+bug/1764379/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1219121] [NEW] Totem’s interface unable to launch.
Public bug reported: Hi, I know I should stop using a system as slow as Ubuntu in my computer, but I still do. The problem is that when you try to launch Totem from Nautilus by double clicking on a file and that no window is opened in the next minute, you’re no longer sure whether or not the system noted that you double-clicked and thus you retry double-clicking. Then after a while two Totem windows launch… but no one of them responding, whatever the time you wait for them. After killing them all, restarting one and patiently waiting the full time for a Totem window to be fully ready, it worked again. I’m sorry for the pitch of this bug-report, but I strongly have the feeling that no one cares about (no so) old computers and assumed that every launch of a program will be atomic (in the distributed sense: the execution of the program will be atomic from the moment it starts to the moment everything has been loaded)… but that’s clearly not the case, especially running Ubuntu on a laptop aging more than 3 years. And thus (I guess), parallel executions of the same program break some assumptions of the code. I know I should remove Ubuntu from my laptop to switch to something more serious, but while I don’t I get similar errors from various programs. I think this particular is the first time I report for Totem, however. Hoping that Apport’s collected information may be useful, Yours sincerely, Martin. P.S.: I’m really sorry for the general mood of this message, but I used to think Ubuntu and all its softwares were the best programs ever… and I got disillusioned as soon as my laptop wasn’t the cutting edge one. ☹ ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10 Package: totem 3.4.3-0ubuntu5 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.5.0-40.62-generic 3.5.7.20 Uname: Linux 3.5.0-40-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.6.1-0ubuntu12 Architecture: amd64 CheckboxSubmission: 01a18e0a74cbde3d34a62f62830ed079 CheckboxSystem: f134069bba098730d27f59b402920826 Date: Sat Aug 31 01:49:16 2013 InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-01-31 (577 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Release amd64 (20111012) MarkForUpload: True SourcePackage: totem UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to quantal on 2012-09-30 (334 days ago) ** Affects: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug quantal running-unity ** Summary changed: - Totem is unable to open a window in less than a minute. + Totem’s interface unable to launch. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to totem in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1219121 Title: Totem’s interface unable to launch. [Bug 1201190] [NEW] Totem interface not launching.
Public bug reported: Hi, This bug happens relatively frequently: sometimes, when I double-click on a music file (I don’t think the type of file is relevant here) in Nautilus, Totem is not launching anything. After about ten seconds, I usually retry. This time, I retried two times: after the third try, three Totem windows opened… but none where responding (even after several minutes). Each window was completely empty (a grey filling, with only the title: no button or anything I usually see when launching Totem). Hoping it will help, Martin. [Bug 1085604] [NEW] Gedit taking 100% at launch, then crashing.
Public bug reported: Hi, I’ve tried to open a document with Gedit. This document wasn’t probably meant to be done than way, but anyway, Gedit taked 100% CPU for some minutes. This bug report has been done while it was running. I’ve then killed it with signal 4 (SIGILL), and Apport launched, rapporting a bug, but without allowing me to describe the situation… There thus might be a duplicate of this bug somewhere, with a SIGILL signal instead. How to reproduce it: → Get this file : ftp://ftp.ims.uni-stuttgart.de/pub/corpora/french-par-linux-3.2-utf8.bin.gz → Open it with File-roller. → Double-click on the unique file in it, launching Gedit. Gedit then open a window, taking 100% CPU without responding (I couldn’t even close it!). I don’t know the format of this “par” file, but it seems Gedit does not like it ☺ Hoping it can help, Martin. [Bug 1017713] [NEW] Totem interface froze at the end of an m4a.
Public bug reported: Hi, I don't really know what did happens. Totem was reading “m4a” audio files, in a random loop mode. At the end of a song, the interface sudenly froze, the image not being updated (it displays the background) and the interface not responding. No sound were then being played. I've set this bug against Totem as it seems the cause of it, but Gnome-shell crashed at the same time: that may be another package that did that. After killing Totem and relaunching it, it works well. I do not know how to reproduce this bug. Hoping it can help… But as it is not frequent, I won't classify this bug with a high priority ;-) Martin. To reproduce this bug, I just have to preview any mails I’ve sent from Evolution using an account where I’ve set an image for the account and where there is an attachment. When I click on the graphical interface, it displays the mail (and it displays that there is an attachment) just before freezing, but it does not display the image I’ve set for this account at the right of the mail’s description. Probably something to do with this image? [Bug 890383] [NEW] Evolution freezes and does not answer when displaying a mail
Public bug reported: Hi! I was just using Evolution. It works well for some hours, but there it just crashes. When it crashes, I was switching directory from my inbox one to my “Sent” directory. Then it freezes. Even the graphical interface didn’t redraw place that where hidden by other windows! I thus used apport-bug in it, and this is the result. Then I used xkill on the window and restart Evolution. It seems that a problem occured as apport-bug launches another time by saying that Evolution just exits with signal 5. By looking in the informations of “ps -e”, it appears that the old one was still running and that the new I launches crashes. I’m thus attaching the other bug report from apport (the one stored in /var/crash). Once I’ve killed the first Evolution, I was then able to launche Evolution without problem. Hoping it will help. [Bug 884709] [NEW] Evolution is not able to display mails while downloading other mails.
Public bug reported: Hi! I’ve had this bug before the upgrade to Oneiric, so it is not a regression. If have a very bad access to the Internet there: the DNS fails most of the time, most packages are lost and the local server does not always resend lost packages. This is not the fault of Evolution of course. The fact is the with this connection I’m not able to read my mails while Evolution is downloading others. I guess it is a problem of mutex (two processes of Evolution that both tries to read the same file), but I’m not sure at all. When I ask Evolution to download mails, I’m no longer able to read others mails, including already downloaded ones. Each time I ask Evolution to read an old mail (by clicking on it) a new job appears underneath, but the old ones are not erased… This can be problematic as I have sometimes to kill all the job of Evolution to be at last able to read old mails. Sometimes it works well, but I guess it is because the connection get better (it is a wifi one and it is very fluctuant). When I disconnect the computer to the Internet, all jobs stopped and I can read old mails too. I have tested it in other buildings — when the Internet connection is much better — and the issue does not appears there. It seems it is just because my current connection is a very bad one. I hope the informations of Apport will be useful. If you need any further information, just ask. By the way, with the new version of Evolution, it seems that it is not possible to kill a job that easily (it just adds a message “cancelling…” for this job) and it is thus much more difficult to read my mails… I’m afraid it is not easily reproductible without simulating my Internet connection, but I can reproduce such a lag nearly as I want when I’m here. If you want me to send statistics of my connection or log of Evolution or something else, just ask! With thanks! Martin. [Bug 785660] [NEW] Nautilus was not responding for some minutes.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Hi! This is not a very important bug, but I thought it could be useful to report it. I was working usually (I was working with LaTeX and evince display the pdf at the same time: that may explain many of the Xsession errors) when I tried to open nautilus. It then took a long time for a new window to open. I’ve not wait that long and I’ve tried to open a new tab in an already opened nautilus window. It does nothing. When I’ve tried to rescale the nautilus window, it works, but the internal display wasn’t updated. When I tried to close it, Ubuntu said this window wasn’t responding, so I force its exit. Then nautilus was launching again automatically at all returns in a normal way. It’s not a critical bug at all, it’s just that it happens sometimes (but very rarely). I don’t know how to reproduce this bug, but the apport-collect information were taken while it wasn’t responding. I hope it will give some useful information. Indeed I’ve already seen Evolution do that, but only one time or two and as it never re-do it, I’ve never reported it. ** Attachment added: apport-bug informations. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/754553/+attachment/2056095/+files/apport.evolution ** Description changed: Binary package hint: evolution Hi, It’s been about a month that I’ve this problem. I haven’t found the exact way to reproduce it, but it appears relatively often. - It appears each time when I send a mail. + It appears nearly each time when I send a mail. The outbox, initialy empty, is then filled by the mail I’ve just compose, which is normal, but sometimes with other old mails. Then these mails are sent. Thus I’ve sent through Evolution some mails more than one time. At each time this happens, the old mails is sent with exactly the same properties as the old one: for instance the sent date writen in the “new old mail” is the same as the old one. (The sent date writen in the mail through the field “Date”, not the real sending date.) The containing text is of course the same. I’ve tested it without connection and it sometimes “works” too. [Bug 739500] Re: Evolution is not responding when displaying the Sent Mails directory.
Yes, I’ve experimenting and I haven’t seen any counter-example for a long: the problem appears as long as the mail I ask to display both have an attachment and it’s me that have send it, whatever the folder where the mails is. Then evolution just freeze, trying to display it. I’ve check with big and small attachments, with various file format (raw text, svg, gz, pdf, …) it always do the same thing. I add some apport-bug informations of the program when it freezes. ** Attachment added: apport-bug informations when Evolution freezes. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/739500/+attachment/2012913/+files/repport ** Summary changed: - Evolution is not responding when displaying the Sent Mails directory. + Evolution is not responding when displaying mails from me to myself with an attachment. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/739500 Title: Evolution is not responding when displaying mails from me to myself with an attachment. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 754553] [NEW] Evolution re-send old mails sometimes when sending new mails.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution Hi, It’s been about a month that I’ve this problem. I haven’t found the exact way to reproduce it, but it appears relatively often. It appears each time when I send a mail. (But then I’ve expenrienced no problem in erasing them… But they were still created in the outbox!) It’s a bit problematic for me to have this bug now. If you need some other information, you can of course ask. Thanks! Martin. [Bug 740067] Re: [Wishlist] Threading does not respect reverse date order
I think this is more a lacking option of the graphical displaying option of Evolution than a real bug. I’ve allowed myself to add the tag “WishList”. ** Summary changed: - Threading does not respect reverse date order + [Wishlist] Threading does not respect reverse date order ** Tags added: wishlist -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/740067 Title: [Wishlist] Threading does not respect reverse date order -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 739500] Re: Evolution is not responding when displaying the Sent Mails directory.
I’ve just check the port number. Yes, I think they are correct. (When I click on “check accepted protocol”, all servers answers.) It seems that the bug appears as soon as all mails in a folder belongs to me: draft, sent mails do not work. But the other folder works well. (But some of them are empty.) For the trash folder, it’s strange: There is only mails from me in it. When displaying some messages, it works, but when I display other it doesn’t. While experimenting, it seems that it freezes when the displayed message is from me and that it contains an attachment. I’ve tested to send me two mails: one with an attachment and the other without. The first one is display without any problem, but the second one make Evolution freeze. That’s strange because there is no problem when I display the mails from other people with an attachment… -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/739500 Title: Evolution is not responding when displaying the Sent Mails directory. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 739500] [NEW] Evolution is not responding when displaying the Sent Mails directory.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution Hi, It’s been some weeks now that each time I ask Evolution to display the ‘Sent Mail’ directory, it’s just not responding. I’ve tried it many times, it always do the same thing. It displays as the current job “message formating” (or something closed, I use the French version of it), but nothing moves in it. I’ve once let it works for nearly an hour, but it doesn’t help. I’ve tried with and without the Internet connection. I’ve relatively recently played with the ability to add an avatar for my mail. Maybe it has something to do with it? I don’t see any other helpful information, but if you need something, don’t hesitate. Thanks. Martin. [Bug 726562] Re: gnome-panel calendar gives false date for evolution
Hi, I’ve the same problem, but in my computer, the bug appears both weither there is a 29th of February or not. I’ve tried many dates, in February and other months in 2010, 2011 and 2012. It seems that whenever I click on a date, it’s the one before that is displayed by Evolution. (Including the beginning of the month.) Hoping it will be helpful.
