[Bug 109192] Re: Lacks sync option for iPod

2007-10-24 Thread Martin Jürgens
> (at least this is true on my new nano that I just started using)

it updates the db nicely.

the latest gen of the ipod now required the database being encrypted by
a SHA1 hash, see http://ipodminusitunes.blogspot.com/2007/09/apple-cuts-
us-off.html . this is hitting all media players (amarok, banshee)
excepting of iTunes.

they reverse-engineered it, but it may take some time for alternative
applications adopting it. my suggestion is to buy an alternative device,
the sandisk sansa e280 sounds nice to me.

2007-08-03 Thread Martin Jürgens
Plus, when using the drive on different Ubuntu installations with
different Ubuntu installations, the user only can clean his trash and
not the one from the other user.

I believe that the best and easiest solution would be to directly delete
files on the usb storage device with the message that appears when
deleting the .Trash-$USER folder on the drive. But maybe we should
better discuss upstream with the GNOME developers.

Sorry, I do not have an idea. The mails that I had problems with are
being displayed correctly using the patch, I do not have an idea how to
fix your problem. I will reopen this bug.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: evolution

- In Evolution, an Arabic encoding is not being included. Thus, it is not
- possible to read Arabic e-mails which were written with a client that
- does not use UTF-8.
+ In Evolution, it is not possible to view some mails, for example
+
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/7982849/%28www.%20Z%20E%20E%20M%20A%20L%20L%20.com%29%20E%20C%20O%20C%20%20CU%20%20CCE.msg
+ which have an Arabic encoding.
+
+
+ As part of this bug, the ISO-8859-6 encoding has been added to Evolution,
which enables Evolution to open Arabic mails, but not all.

Windows-1256 are not included, this is right.

For me, the mail attached only worked selecting Windows-1256 in Outlook.

In Evolution, it is also being displayed correctly using Arabic ISO
8859-6. This also applies to other Arabic mails.

Does this work for you? If this is not the case, an example mail would
be great.

[Bug 94522] Re: $PATH variable in Gnome wrong

2007-03-22 Thread Martin Jürgens
Hi!

I was at Jonathan's house yesterday and we tried around a little bit.
First, he upgraded to Feisty but that issue appeard.

So, as /home was on a seperate hard disk, we wiped / and installed
Feisty Herd 5.

After doing upgrades, the problem reappeard, but I can't tell you if it
happens with a fresh Herd 5. I think that we'll try to boot from that
live cd again and retry.

As I though it may be related to some configs in /home, I created a new
user and logged in as it. But the problem still appeared there, also.

Finally, we installed kdm and the issues disappeard..

I will attach the configs as soon as I have access to that machine.

I use Ubuntu Feisty and the de_DE.UTF-8 locale. Copying to gedit works
fine.

Also, when copying some test to Gaim, it creates some spaces in the chat

When I copy "hölla das ist ein tüst" (:-P) Gaim's chat window looks like
that:

"

[Bug 12393] Re: mount -t auto does not automatically load modules

2007-02-10 Thread Martin Jürgens
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 36249 ***

Works fine for me. Please try on a Edgy livecd. If it still occurs,
please try to execute "sudo modprobe floppy".

If you do not have any success, you should reopen bug 36249.

Just click on "gtk+1.2 (Ubuntu)" at the top of this page (in the
center).

Then you have a drop-down menu "Status", where you can select the status
of the bug.

[Bug 62300] Re: [Edgy] fonts are not displayed in GTK1 applications

2007-02-03 Thread Martin Jürgens
I rejected the bug as I reported it and as I solved it deleting some
configuration files, which I excepted not to be existent on normal
installations ( I used some gtk1 configuration tools, among these a gtk1
font changing tool).

You could have reopened the bug, but I do it for you now.

[Bug 83014] Re: gnome-control-center starts too slow

2007-02-03 Thread Martin Jürgens
Yeah, it uses CPU when starting.

g-c-c does not appear immediatly, instead, it takes around 9 seconds to
show up with a grey configuration list. After one more second the
configuration items appear then.

For me, there are 52 configuration items being shown, if that matters.

[Bug 82322] Re: Arabic encoding not included

2007-01-31 Thread Martin Jürgens
The desktop on which it appears is running Ubuntu 6.10.

I can not tell you if it appears in other applications since it is only
one contact who writes mails with that encoding (I think that it is the
Hotmail Web Interface). All other Arabic mails and applications work
fine.

In Outlook, it is possible to view the mail correctly by selecting
"Arabic Encoding", but in Evolution, I miss Arabic in View -> Message
encoding.

[Bug 66068] Re: New iPod nano recognized as via raid member

2007-01-09 Thread Martin Jürgens
Matthew, although I didn't test it in detail, I do not except my
packages to break Feisty upgrades.

The reasons are:

- I only added a patch to debian/patches and changed the Ubuntu revision
+1.

- My package is version 0.5.7.1-0ubuntu18, the current one in Feisty is
0.5.8.1-4ubuntu1, so the upgrade procedure should detect hal as "needs
upgrade".

- On a Feisty install having my hal packages for Edgy installed, a dist-
upgrade works fine.

So, as a christmas present, I prepared precompiled .debs which can be
found at http://gamesplace.info/opensource/ubuntu/hal/ipod-nano-fix/. In
the README, there's information provided how to install them.
