[Bug 1892507] [NEW] MATE completely freezes when I click on the fcitx applet

2020-08-21 Thread Mattia
Public bug reported:

Most of the times I click on the applet on the top right to change
layout, MATE completely freezes (I can't click anything, but the clock
keeps going). Only thing I can do is either restart lightdm or reboot.
The workaround I use is using the keyboard shortcut to change layout.
That does not freeze anything.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1672424 ***

I don't think this is a duplicate. As I said here, pressing install does
absolutely nothing. In the other bug report - that I've read before
posting this one - Ubuntu Software throws an error. If you still think
this is a duplicate, thats fine; as long as it gets fixed soon.

[Bug 1044868] Re: Unsecure passwords reported as acceptable as well as strong ones

I thing checking the password in order to prevent the use of a
dictionary word is excessive (it's true the password is important, but
-in a desktop location- sometimes the security isn't a issue), but
looking for a limited set of words, like password in all language,
qwerty, and so on...

[Bug 1044868] Re: Unsecure passwords reported as acceptable as well as strong ones

2012-09-03 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
** Description changed:

- This happened in a livecd installation from the ubuntu 12.04 desktop
- i386 iso file.
+ When you set the password during the installation or also when you
+ change it via the gnome-control-center you can insert a weak password
+ (like 123456 or qwerty or abcdef or password itself) without any
+ alerts, or so on.

- During a installation on a VM I decided that the username should be
- usuario (user in spanish) and the password should be contraseña
- (password in spanish). The language of the installer was set to spanish.
-
- The bug is that the password contraseña was marked as acceptable
- (aceptable in spanish), witch is not.
-
- I suggest a password strength verification that includes the most used
- passwords (like 1234 or qwerty) or, at least, a dictionary that includes
- the word password in every language.
-
- I understand that the system must perceive the ñ character as a
- special symbol, but having declared a spanish keyboard it should not be
- treated as such. Nor with any other keymap and symbol that is non-
- english but present on them.
+ The suggestion is a password strength verification that includes the most
used passwords (like 1234 or qwerty) and a dictionary that includes the
word password in every language.
+ A special attention to language like Spanish where password is
contraseña, and where is the character ñ which can be recognize as a
special symbol.

Public bug reported:

Rhythmbox should prevent suspension when music is playing, if power-

my laptop and power-manager is found in /usr/lib/rhythmbox/plugins/ , I

[Bug 859254] [NEW] Date-shift when importing birthdays from MS Outlook file

2011-09-25 Thread Mattia Ghedin
Public bug reported:

Maybe the fault is in Nokia Ovi suite behaviour. Anyway, this may apply to
other situations.
Syncing from Nokia mobile phone address book to MS Outlook 2010 results in
Outlook creating recurring events for contacts' birthdays. Outlook stores them
as recurring events starting at 0:00 and ending at 0:00 of the birthdays
(duration=0:00). When exporting the MS Outlook address book as pst file and
importing to Evolution, the starting date is shifted in advance of 1 day.
Example:

Nokia phone
Jill - birthday: 26 september 1980

MS Outlook 2010
Recurring event (every year)
from 0:00 of 26 september 1980
to 0:00 of 26 september 1980

Evolution (after importing pst file)
Recurring event (every year)
from 0:00 of *25* september 1980
to 0:00 of 26 september 1980

Seems that Evolution replies ending time is before starting time when
trying to manually create an event with duration equal to 0:00h.

[Bug 688257] Re: Can't move messages between different imap accounts if timed out

2011-06-03 Thread Mattia Ghedin
Hi Pedro. Now I am on Natty Narwahl but I can't do the check because I
dismissed one of the two accounts. Anyway... When movin one message from
one folder to another one (same account) a copy also is saved in the
trash. I can't say if that behaviour depends on evolution or on the
mailbox provider (www.aruba.it, the biggest in Italy).

[Bug 688257] [NEW] Can't move messages between different imap accounts if timed out

2010-12-09 Thread Mattia Ghedin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Evolution 2.30.3 on Ubuntu Maverick

Problem when moving a message between imap folders of different accounts.
I have account 1 and account 2, both imap. Sometimes I need to move/copy
messages from e.g. inbox 1 to inbox 2.
That sometimes fails when Evolution has been idle for a while.
If I open (click on) inbox 1, than on inbox 2, everything looks fine.

Looks like connections are closed after some idle time, and can't be
resumed unless you click on a folder of the account not open (focused)
before. not an expert, but almost sure there is some timeout or missing
event (message copy/move/drag and drop) trigger.

[Bug 669435] [NEW] Cifs mount - issues loading and playng files from there

2010-11-01 Thread Mattia Ghedin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

In my LAN there's a network hard drive holding my music. The drive is
permanently mounted using /etc/fstab in a local directory. The mount is
assigned to my user? (uid option set to 1000).

Everything runs fine but loading files in a totem playlist is very slow:
Nautilus music folder album foder select all right click play in
(totem)
requires about 1 minute to load in playlist less than 20 files (quickly loaded
the first half, than slowly the remaining files).

Seems that also buffering is sub-optimal (some clicks similar to LP
noise).
