[Bug 1877401] Re: The Italian translation is not complete

2020-05-07 Thread Milo Casagrande
Hi,

to be honest I'm not sure why this has untranslated strings.
Upstream is complete, and this one has been correctly imported in Launchpad:

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince

and has no untranslated strings.

[Bug 857136] [NEW] Change password dialog not fully translated

2011-09-23 Thread Milo Casagrande
Public bug reported:

Hi,

while using Oneiric Beta, I tried to change the default keyring password
using seahorse (Passwords and Keys application in the Dash).

The dialog that comes up if you right-click on the default keyring and
choose to change the password, looks like is coming from gnome-keyring,
since that strings there are in the gnome-keyring template. Not all of
those strings are translated, albeit them being already translated since
a while and also shipped with Ubuntu.

Seahorse is at versione 3.1.92, gnome-keyring at version 3.1.92.

I attach a screenshot of the problem.
Thank you for your attention.

[Bug 785740] Re: xchat-gnome crashed with SIGABRT in __kernel_vsyscall()

2011-06-01 Thread Milo Casagrande
Hi,

just to add a comment about this issue: some years ago we experienced a
similar problem with the Italian translation of xchat-gnome, and the
problem was really related to the translation. If I'm not wrong, there
could be problems with the strings in xchat-gnome that look like this
one:

msgid -%C10-%C11-%O$t$1 deleted from notify list.

It is easy to add something or to format the string in a way that can
crash the application.

Just to let you guys know, in case it might help you.

Ciao.

[Bug 660648] [NEW] Non translated elements in the interface

2010-10-14 Thread Milo Casagrande
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

After a fresh 10.10 install with all the languages-pack in place, Rhythmbox
still has some strings that don't show up as translated.
In particular there are:
- Get Link to Music Store (in the View menu)

I checked the MO file of the U1 Rythmbox plugin and the strings are
there and translated, looks like this could be a translation domain

other languages).

Re: [Bug 553576] Re: gdm is not translated in italian after installed system without internet connection

2010-04-02 Thread Milo Casagrande
2010/4/1 marco.pallotta marco.pallo...@gmail.com:
I know that the problem is that, without an internet connection, the system
hadn't yet downloaded the language-packs needed to have a fully Italian
installation, but a typical user thinks to install an italian system and, to
log-in, he has to translate from english (ok, to log-in he can perceive the
steps to enter into the system as the fields he has to fill and buttons that
he has to press  are not many).
I think this is an evident usability bug.

Personally, I don't agree with the usability point of view.

It is a chicken-egg kind of problem: if you didn't download the
Italian langpack during installation, how can you install it without
logging into your session, and if you still don't have your Internet
connection?

Or we provide only the English interface during the installation, or
we provide all the languages in the CD. Both are very unlikely, so
having the installation in your language and downloading the langpack
during the installation, is a good compromise. A good compromise even
if you don't have the Internet connection, 'cause after you log in,
you should be prompted to download the missing language support (and
if you are not, then that is a totally different separate problem from
this).

But if you still don't have an active Internet connection, there is no
easy solution to that.

All of these, IMHO.

[Bug 553576] Re: gdm is not translated in italian after installed system without internet connection

2010-04-01 Thread Milo Casagrande
Hi,

thanks for reporting this bug trying to make Ubuntu better.

The Italian translation of gdm is complete (both in GNOME and Ubuntu).
If you don't have an active Internet connection during the install
phase, you are not likely going to download the language-packs needed to
have a fully Italian localized desktop: the default Ubuntu CD does not
contain all the translations, and Italian is one of those language with
partial support in the live CD session.

I'm marking this as invalid, but if after installing the Italian support
and restarting your session you still have untranslated parts, feel free
to repoen this bug or opening another one.

[Bug 536902] [NEW] Wrong folder used for saving received files

2010-03-10 Thread Milo Casagrande
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

When I receive a file with Empathy, and I have to choose where to save
the file, the default directory that appears in the save dialog is
always File system (the root directory). This behavior could be
misleading to normal users or to users that are not paying attention
where exactly the file will be saved.

The same problem is present when I want to send a file to a user. If I
choose Contact - Send file, the default directory to select a file
from, is always the root one.

IMHO, sane defaults could be:
- $HOME/Downloads (the default XDG directory for downloads) for receiving files
- $HOME for sending files

[Bug 523121] Re: Menu entries should show the application name *before* the description

2010-02-21 Thread Milo Casagrande
The passage from the old way (Name - GenericName) of translating the
.desktop menu entries to the new one (X-GNOME-Fullname) has been done
due to the modifications of the freedesktop specifications, and also
because in Italian, using the Name before the description, would have
been grammatically incorrect.

With the future passage to gnome-shell, this will not be the case
anymore, since looks like there will only be the Name visible.

If you really want to see the name of the application in the menu, you
need to ask each application to change their .desktop file accordingly,
or to ask for a global gconf key where you can decide what to show in
the menus (be it Name, GenericName, FullName).

What you see with Rhythmbox and gwget are definitely wrong translations.
Rythmbox has been fixed too late in the cycle to be included with the
default Ubuntu language-pack (will probably be with the next one), gwget
was not fixed at all.

An example where the pattern Name - GenerciName will not work is with
Totem: you will never find the name of the application.

Marking as invalid.

[Bug 411390] [NEW] Translations: po-python.pot template is missing, existing .po files useless

When scanning the import queue in Launchpad Rosetta for issues that need
manual intervention, I found the following issue with the gimp package,
which prevents a smooth import into Launchpad Rosetta and causes the
Ubuntu Translation Coordinators to manually adjust or remove .po files.

In the po-python/ directory the po-python.pot template file is missing.

.pc files are older than the one in the normal po/ directory.

As discussed in the ubuntu-translations-list [1], this might be
confusing to translators, and we agreed on merging all translations in
one single template as most of the other packages do.

Seb mentioned this rule in the debian/rules file:

include /usr/share/gnome-pkg-tools/1/rules/patch-translations.mk

so the fix might be as simple as removing it.

[Bug 410674] [NEW] Translations: Remove po.saved/ directory in the translations tarball

2009-08-08 Thread Milo Casagrande
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-session

When scanning the import queue in Launchpad Rosetta for issues that need
manual intervention, I found the following issue with the mesa package
which prevents a smooth import into Launchpad Rosetta and causes the
Ubuntu Translation Coordinators to manually adjust or remove .po files.

There is a po.saved/ directory with po files in it. Looking at the those
files, looks like those they are outdated compared with the ones in po/.

Should that directory be removed?

[Bug 410658] Re: Merge/Remove .pc/ files into the main translation

2009-08-08 Thread Milo Casagrande
The problem is that those files get stuck in the translations import
queue, 'cause they don't have a POT template files. But even if they had
one they will probably get stuck since the source path is not know to
Launchapd.

If those files are there only as a backup thing, we can block them
from being imported into Rosetta (I'm talking about only .po files), and
they won't be imported anymore. If a completely new translation is added
and patched, it will show up since it will be new to Rosetta, though.
That's why it should be better to remove that directory from the
translations traballs.

Do you assure me it's not possible to remove that directory?

[Bug 362580] [NEW] Impossibile to sepcify event time

2009-04-16 Thread Milo Casagrande
Public bug reported:

It has been reported of a problem in Evolution 2.26 that prevents users
to save appointments using the it_IT locale.

This was due to a problem in the Italian localization of evolution-data-
server that used the %-H as a string formatter for %H.

For Ubuntu users a note and a workaround has been added to the Italian
release notes for the upcoming 9.04 version [1], as soon as GNOME git
migration ends this modification will be pushed upstream too and we will
manually import GNOME translation for e-d-s in Launchpad.

This bug has been reported upstream too with number 578224.

[Bug 198862] [NEW] brasero crashed with SIGSEGV in g_type_check_instance_cast()

2008-03-05 Thread Milo Casagrande
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 194721 ***

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

Using Ubuntu 8.04, brasero version is 0.7.1.

This problem happens when you:
- disable all the md5 related plugins in Edit - Plugins
- perform a integrity check with all plugins disabled
- enable only the plugin md5sum
- re-perform a integrity check
- brasero crashes with a Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Almost the same thing happens if I enable only the md5sum-file plugin.

[Bug 160782] Eject option not present for removable devices

2007-11-07 Thread Milo Casagrande
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager

When you plug-in a removable device (a USB pen) and unsafely remove it,
the warning message says:

To avoid serious data loss, disable removable drives with the Eject
option in the drive icon's...

The problem is that there's no Eject option for removable devices in
the context menu, but there's the Unmount volume option, Eject is
for CDs/DVDs.

This results in a wrong message for user trying to unplug their devices.

[Bug 89964] Re: xchat-gnome not working

2007-10-29 Thread Milo Casagrande
It was an error on a translated string, this bug affects upstream too
and it's 487503 in GNOME's Bugzilla.

The string has been corrected today in Launchpad (it was #453) and with
a new langpack everything should work fine, tonight I'm going to pass a
patch upstream too.

Thanks to Luca Falavigna who tracked the problem!

Cheers!
