[Bug 857136] [NEW] Change password dialog not fully translated
Public bug reported: Hi, while using Oneiric Beta, I tried to change the default keyring password using seahorse (Passwords and Keys application in the Dash). The dialog that comes up if you right-click on the default keyring and choose to change the password, looks like is coming from gnome-keyring, since that strings there are in the gnome-keyring template. Not all of those strings are translated, albeit them being already translated since a while and also shipped with Ubuntu. Seahorse is at versione 3.1.92, gnome-keyring at version 3.1.92. Hi, just to add a comment about this issue: some years ago we experienced a similar problem with the Italian translation of xchat-gnome, and the problem was really related to the translation. If I'm not wrong, there could be problems with the strings in xchat-gnome that look like this one: msgid -%C10-%C11-%O$t$1 deleted from notify list. It is easy to add something or to format the string in a way that can crash the application. Just to let you guys know, in case it might help you. Re: [Bug 553576] Re: gdm is not translated in italian after installed system without internet connection
2010/4/1 marco.pallotta marco.pallo...@gmail.com: I know that the problem is that, without an internet connection, the system hadn't yet downloaded the language-packs needed to have a fully Italian installation, but a typical user thinks to install an italian system and, to log-in, he has to translate from english (ok, to log-in he can perceive the steps to enter into the system as the fields he has to fill and buttons that he has to press are not many). I think this is an evident usability bug. Personally, I don't agree with the usability point of view. It is a chicken-egg kind of problem: if you didn't download the Italian langpack during installation, how can you install it without logging into your session, and if you still don't have your Internet connection? Or we provide only the English interface during the installation, or we provide all the languages in the CD. Both are very unlikely, so having the installation in your language and downloading the langpack during the installation, is a good compromise. A good compromise even if you don't have the Internet connection, 'cause after you log in, you should be prompted to download the missing language support (and if you are not, then that is a totally different separate problem from this). But if you still don't have an active Internet connection, there is no easy solution to that. [Bug 553576] Re: gdm is not translated in italian after installed system without internet connection
Hi, thanks for reporting this bug trying to make Ubuntu better. The Italian translation of gdm is complete (both in GNOME and Ubuntu). If you don't have an active Internet connection during the install phase, you are not likely going to download the language-packs needed to have a fully Italian localized desktop: the default Ubuntu CD does not contain all the translations, and Italian is one of those language with partial support in the live CD session. [Bug 523121] Re: Menu entries should show the application name *before* the description
The passage from the old way (Name - GenericName) of translating the .desktop menu entries to the new one (X-GNOME-Fullname) has been done due to the modifications of the freedesktop specifications, and also because in Italian, using the Name before the description, would have been grammatically incorrect. With the future passage to gnome-shell, this will not be the case anymore, since looks like there will only be the Name visible. If you really want to see the name of the application in the menu, you need to ask each application to change their .desktop file accordingly, or to ask for a global gconf key where you can decide what to show in the menus (be it Name, GenericName, FullName). What you see with Rhythmbox and gwget are definitely wrong translations. Rythmbox has been fixed too late in the cycle to be included with the default Ubuntu language-pack (will probably be with the next one), gwget was not fixed at all. An example where the pattern Name - GenerciName will not work is with Totem: you will never find the name of the application. [Bug 410658] Re: Merge/Remove .pc/ files into the main translation
The problem is that those files get stuck in the translations import queue, 'cause they don't have a POT template files. But even if they had one they will probably get stuck since the source path is not know to Launchapd. If those files are there only as a backup thing, we can block them from being imported into Rosetta (I'm talking about only .po files), and they won't be imported anymore. If a completely new translation is added and patched, it will show up since it will be new to Rosetta, though. That's why it should be better to remove that directory from the translations traballs. This problem happens when you: - disable all the md5 related plugins in Edit - Plugins - perform a integrity check with all plugins disabled - enable only the plugin md5sum - re-perform a integrity check - brasero crashes with a Segmentation fault (core dumped) Almost the same thing happens if I enable only the md5sum-file plugin. [Bug 160782] Eject option not present for removable devices
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager When you plug-in a removable device (a USB pen) and unsafely remove it, the warning message says: To avoid serious data loss, disable removable drives with the Eject option in the drive icon's... The problem is that there's no Eject option for removable devices in the context menu, but there's the Unmount volume option, Eject is for CDs/DVDs. This results in a wrong message for user trying to unplug their devices. ** Affects: gnome-volume-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Eject option not present for removable devices https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/160782 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-volume-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 89964] Re: xchat-gnome not working
It was an error on a translated string, this bug affects upstream too and it's 487503 in GNOME's Bugzilla. The string has been corrected today in Launchpad (it was #453) and with a new langpack everything should work fine, tonight I'm going to pass a patch upstream too. Thanks to Luca Falavigna who tracked the problem! [Bug 89964] Re: xchat-gnome not working
It's strange... xchat-gnome Italian translation has been completed upstream a couple of months ago... and even on Launchpad it's complete. -- xchat-gnome not working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/89964 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
