[Bug 270976] Re: [SRU] gst-plugins-bad0.10 needs rebuilding with mjpegtools to enable burning video with Brasero

2009-06-14 Thread Noam Raphael
I added the PPA and installed the packages from it.

Running gst-inspect0.10 | grep mpeg2 prints a line ffmpeg:
ffenc_mpeg2video: FFMPEG MPEG-2 video encoder

But I still get the annoying plugins message and brasero will not burn
a dvd... :(

Do you have any idea what should be done?

[Bug 154096] Re: Print options shouldn't be saved across different sessions

2008-12-30 Thread Noam Raphael
552426 is the bug which says exactly that print settings should be
forgotten. 349102 is a mix of people asking that evince will remember
their page size and people asking that it use the default settings.

** Changed in: evince

[Bug 154096] Re: Print options shouldn't be saved across different sessions

2008-08-20 Thread Noam Raphael
Thanks to Sebastien's instructions on how to get the source and play with it, I
managed to fix the bug.
It required only 25 additional characters in the source!

It turns out that the code to load and save the print settings to a file
is surrounded by #if directives, which check for a large enough
version of GTK (in version 2.11.0, a feature to save and load the print
settings was added to GTK). I changed #if GTK_CHECK_VERSION (2, 11, 0)
into #if 0 GTK_CHECK_VERSION (2, 11, 0) in five places, and it
works perfectly now.

I guess that at the end the code should be removed altogether, but
currently it works very nicely.

I attached the diff.

Have a good day,
Noam

[Bug 154096] Re: Print options shouldn't be saved across different sessions

2008-08-19 Thread Noam Raphael
I right now encountered this bug again, and I add my request to fix this
bug. What happened to Andrew happened also to me: On a previous session
I printed first the odd pages and then the even pages. Some time later,
I tried to print a one-page document and it took me some while and
frustration to realize that it didn't print because the even pages
option was selected on a different tab and the document had no even
pages.

Why not fix this bug? How hard should it be *not* to save options?

The solution is so simple: Options should be saved for a specific evince
process, but not saved between them. If someone wants to change a
default, he can go to print settings and change it there.

No, I was accidentally commenting on the wrong bug... The rename bug
is https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/234167 . I wanted to ask if you can
link it to the previous report.
By the way, did you get the new report I sent (
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/234248 ) ? Is it ok?

Thanks,

Hello,

It's OK if you don't find the original bug report, but it will be
helpful if you manage to -- it will at least allow me to check that
it's indeed the bug that I have encountered.

[Bug 234160] [NEW] Copy over sftp stops after one file and closes nautilus

2008-05-22 Thread Noam Raphael
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Hello,

I:
* select two files on another computer (the address is
ssh://othercomputer.local), one of them big (~300MB) and the other small
* copy them (ctrl+c)
* open a new nautilus window (using the menu)
* switch to the /tmp directory
* paste (ctrl+v)

Then, a window saying that two files are being copied is displayed.
After the first file is copied, the progress window is closed together
with the two nautilus windows. A new nautilus window is displayed,
showing my home directory. If I switch to the /tmp directory, I discover
that only the big file was copied.

Good luck with the bug, and thanks,
Noam

[Bug 234167] [NEW] Nautilus quits file name editing after creating a new file/directory in the /tmp directory

2008-05-22 Thread Noam Raphael
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Hello,

I:
* switch to the /tmp directory
* right-click the files view, and choose new folder, or new file.
* a new file/folder appears, selected for name editing, but after about a
second the name editing stops, and the file/folder gets the regular selection.
This is very confusing - I start to type, and then discover that my typing
searches for a file instead of renames the directory.

This happens only in the /tmp directory, and only in icon view, not in
list view.

Thanks, and have a good day,
Noam

Re: [Bug 209374] Re: gnome-sound-recorder voice encoder should be mono

2008-03-31 Thread Noam Raphael
I agree it's more a wish than a bug. I clicked Report a bug in the
application and there was no place to change the classification into a
wish.

Even though it's not technically a bug, I think it gets close to a
bug. It's a small (design) mistake, probably pretty easy to fix, which
makes the program significantly less useful for recording speech.

[Bug 209374] [NEW] gnome-sound-recorder voice encoder should be mono

2008-03-30 Thread Noam Raphael
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-media

Hello,

I now used gnome-sound-recorder to record a lesson, using the Voice,
Lossy (Speex audio) encoding. The resulting file size for about 1 hour
is about 20MB. It turns out that the file is encoded in stereo. I think
that 99.9% of people recording speech are not interested in stereo, and
most chances are that they use a mono microphone. I think that 10MB/hour
would be much nicer than 20MB/hour.

By the way, I think that 5MB/hour would be even nicer, if it sounds Ok.
If it is understandable but sounds significantly worse, I would add
another option - Why not have voice, lossy, high quality and voice,
lossy, low quality?

Thanks,
Noam

Hmmm, for me the dialog does not seem to change to right-to-left ordering

Do you have more information on how to duplicate the problem?

Perhaps a hebrew language pack should be installed if
LANGUAGE=he_IL.UTF-8 has no effect?

You can try to run the program with LANGUAGE=he_IL.UTF-8. It may even
show the bug without the Hebrew translation installed, because the
problem is with right-to-left ordering.
