I have this in 12.10. When I try to erase the USB with Startup Disk Creator, the two threads start using 100% CPU each and balloon to tens of gigabytes of memory in a matter of minutes. I can reproduce 100% of the time and crossfade doesn't help. Playback sometimes continues after a while (3-4 minutes in the most recent case I saw) and the song jumps to a position close to where it would have been if it had been playing from the beginning.
