[Bug 36413] Re: Drag-drop column ordering
16 years later and *still* no movement on this? Still an issue with Rhythmbox 3.4.4 in Ubuntu 22.04. I wouldn't even be worried if Genre *wasn't* stuck between Artist and Album, which was a strange choice. I did install Alternative Toolbar, and that allowed me to drag and drop in the order I liked, but it removed the status bar, which is too useful to be without, as it shows the total duration. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/36413 Title: Drag-drop column ordering To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/rhythmbox/+bug/36413/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1698351] Re: Search in Nautilus Files does not allow sorting of results
Yep, this needs fixing. I upgraded from 16.04 to 20.04 LTS and while there have been some great improvements, what's changed in, and been removed from, Nautilus has been a huge disappointment. Search results are displayed in some crazed, random manner, and cannot be tailored, so when there are a lot of results, it's basically unusable. Because I use search so often, and in folders with lots of files, looks like I Have no choice but to use Nemo until this is resolved. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1698351 Title: Search in Nautilus Files does not allow sorting of results To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nautilus/+bug/1698351/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1767431] Re: restore type-ahead find, again
Hi. I finally upgraded to 18.04 and Nautilus without type-ahead find is extremely limiting when it comes to file/folder navigation. I can't even fathom why it would be dropped. But if search is now the default action for when one starts typing, there should be a way to disable that, or enable type-ahead find, if not in an easily-found, user-friendly way, then at least as an option in Preferences. I know there is a patched version available, but I'd rather not have upgrade headaches which can arise from having patched versions of major system apps, so am just adding my voice to the countless others on the web begging for action on this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1767431 Title: restore type-ahead find, again To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1767431/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 887821] Re: "Show copy dialog" right click launcher entry doesn't work (on nautilus copy)
Happens to me on a fresh install of 16.04.1. The progress dialogue was there until I hit Show Desktop - no keyboard shortcuts bring it back - right-click launcher in Unity panel and "Show Copy Dialogue" does absolutely nothing - I do not have an arrow-in-folder app-indicator on the top panel - nothing listed here or and web pages I've looked at. The only way I know it is still copying is that in the Unity launcher there is a small progress-bar across it, and if I bring up Properties for the target folder I can briefly see the number of files increase. I really hoped this would have been fixed by now - this problem has plagued my brother since 12.04, and is one of the main reasons I ended up going KDE. But I figured I'd give Unity another shot on my new PC with a fresh install, and I'd really like to stick with it (but having no visible file operation progress basically kills it for me). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/887821 Title: "Show copy dialog" right click launcher entry doesn't work (on nautilus copy) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/887821/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1266964] [NEW] Rhythmbox 3.0 Can't Edit Recently Added Playlist (No Context Menu)
Public bug reported: Hi. In Ubuntu 13.10 I upgraded RB to version 3.0 via the fossfreedom PPA. Previously, when I right-clicked the Recently Added auto- playlist, a context menu would appear, from which I could choose Edit, with which I could then adjust the time period that the playlist monitored for new music. Now I can't do that, as no context menu appears at all when right-clicking the playlist. Actually there is no context menu for clicking any playlist, and even when hiding all the playlists and right-clicking the blank area beneath the Playlists heading (which before would give me options like creating a new playlist). I've looked for ways around this, but no go, so assume it's a bug I needed to report. [Bug 1164016] Re: restore type-ahead find
The removal of type-ahead find has been driving me nuts since its implementation, so I cast my vote that users be given the option to turn off automatic searching. It staggers me that rather than give us more options to customise our file manager to be as we like it, they're slowly being stripped away. And I have to say, I've been using Ubuntu since 2006, and I'm still waiting for a tool that lets me configure Nautilus without wading through gconf/dconf (though that would likely be next to useless with all the backwards steps Nautilus is taking with every release). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1164016 Title: restore type-ahead find To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nautilus/+bug/1164016/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Hi again. Solution #23 in comment #33 worked for me, so many thanks! For those who want to try it, here are the steps: gksu gedit /etc/pam.d/lightdm Under the first line #%PAM-1.0 paste the following: session required pam_loginuid.so session required pam_systemd.so ... then log out and back in again. If need be, run dpkg-reconfigure gdm and select lightdm (that was already selected in my case, so I don't know if OKing it actually made any difference). Hi. I can confirm after upgrading to 13.10, there isn't much that my system says I'm authorised to do! Can't use Software Updater unless I invoke it with sudo from the terminal... I'm apparently not authorised to access any of my removable drives, or even the other partitions on my internal drive... I am not even allowed to play a DVD! Not being able to choose a screensaver is something I've never come across in my 18 years on the PC, hehe. [Bug 676793] Re: Need to Double-Click ISO Images TWICE Before Brasero Opens to Burn to Disc
Hi. Sorry, but there hasn't been anything to report, except that it has persisted after my upgrade to 11.04. What's more, I currently have my brother's PC here, and after upgrading from 9.10 through to 11.04, I can tell you now his system does exactly the same! And I can verify it wasn't doing this before, not just because he never reported such behaviour, but because I had burned Ubuntu Alternate discs for the upgrades from there myself. Now it's like my system: more often than not, it will fail to open the burning dialogue, even though in the taskbar I am told it is opening said app. One last thing I can report is that it has taken as many as 4 double-clicks to get it going, each time a status button appearing telling me it will open. And in case you're wondering, right-clicking and choosing the option manually from the context menu is no better. Still quite annoying! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to brasero in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/676793 Title: Need to Double-Click ISO Images TWICE Before Brasero Opens to Burn to Disc To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/676793/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 676793] [NEW] Need to Double-Click ISO Images TWICE Before Brasero Opens to Burn to Disc
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: brasero Ubuntu 10.10 using Brasero 2.32.0-0ubuntu2 Before upgrade to 10.10, ISO images only needed to be double-clicked once for Brasero's Burn to Disc to appear. After upgrade to 10.10, double-clicking an ISO image results in the cursor showing busy, and in the taskbar a button appears saying it is Opening..., but after quite a few seconds of this, nothing appears after the taskbar button vanishes. Double-clicking the ISO a second time finally achieves the desired outcome. Additional info: The only other thing I can think of to mention, though I doubt it has anything to do with this, is that after the upgrade Brasero kept (apparently) creating image checksums (though I couldn't find any evidence it was doing more than wasting time). I went into Edit Plugins and disabled both the File Checksums and Image Checksums plugins. I'm not actually sure if the behaviour above was from the start (after the upgrade) or after disabling the plugins (since I only burned an image or two before looking for how to disable the annoying checksum creation). ** Affects: brasero (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Need to Double-Click ISO Images TWICE Before Brasero Opens to Burn to Disc https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/676793 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to brasero in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
