[Bug 1474379] [NEW] Openjdk 7 and 8 don't automatically open jar files
Public bug reported: Hi I made a fresh install today and discovered a bug with java. If you have a .jar file (like josm or sweethome3d) and try to open it from nautilus it doesn't works : It opens file-roller and you can't choose anything else. I had openjdk 8 installed, but with a right click to "Open With", It wasn't proposed. I installed openjdk 7, same problem. I installed openjdk 6 : It worked : Openjdk 6 was proposed. I discovered (thanks to http://askubuntu.com/questions/183086/java-not- recognized-as-default-application) that Openjdk 7 and 8 dont create .desktop files in /usr/share/applications, as Openjdk 6 do (openjdk-6-java.desktop). Here is a part of the result of 'ls /usr/share/applications' command : [...] onboard-settings.desktop openjdk-6-java.desktop openjdk-6-policytool.desktop openjdk-7-policytool.desktop openjdk-8-policytool.desktop orca.desktop [...] I created openjdk-7-java.desktop and openjdk-8-java.desktop and openjdk-default-java.desktop files with openjdk-6-java.desktop as a model (and keeping openjdk 6 icon as 8 doesn't propose any), and used the following command to exec (just to know exactly What I did) : - /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-amd64/jre/bin/java -jar - /usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-amd64/jre/bin/java -jar - /usr/lib/jvm/java-8-openjdk-amd64/jre/bin/java -jar - /usr/bin/java -jar By default, openjdk 6 uses /usr/bin/java -jar. That meens that the Openjdk 6 launcher doesn't launch version 6 but the default version from update-alternatives. If you don't have version 6 installed, by default you can't launch .jar files. [Bug 1285345] [NEW] Visualizations don't work well with dual-screen
Public bug reported: Hi There is a bug when you're listening music with Totem and want visualizations in full screen if you're on a dual screen setup : - What happenned : Visualisation format is very large an not very high. It like if it added the two resolutions of the screens. But if you go full screen, it covers only one screen. So you have a band of color, with two black bands up and down (and probably on each side if your monitors are configured up/down). This is not full screen. - What I expected : I expected my full screen visualisation to fill all my screen (the one I made the visualisation full screened, the projector in my case), not having only a band - How to reproduce : Simple : In a mono-screen config, play an audio file with totem and visualisations activated. Make vusalisation full-screen. Then do the same thing with dual-screen. You understand immediately the problem (easy to see on the attached screenshot) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 Package: totem 3.8.2-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-17.31-generic 3.11.10.3 Uname: Linux 3.11.0-17-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu2.2 Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed Feb 26 21:22:49 2014 InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-01-12 (45 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.10 "Saucy Salamander" - Release amd64 (20131016.1) MarkForUpload: True ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=fr_FR PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: totem UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug saucy ** Attachment added: "Screen shot with fullscreen visualisation problem" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1285345/+attachment/3998280/+files/Dual%20screen%20visualisation%20problem.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to totem in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1285345 Title: Visualizations don't work well with dual-screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/1285345/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1268673] [NEW] Unity Dash should propose terminal app when taping cmd
Public bug reported: Hi This is not a pure bug, but an idea to made life of lot of people simpler. More of that I'm not sure this is more related to Gnome Terminal than Unity). But it's for me an "ergonomy" bug. I explain : In my job I have to use Windows terminal a lot. As I do with 'term' in unity, to open it I usually press "Windows / Super" Key and enter 'CMD'. Here is the "problem" : each time (very often) I come back on Ubuntu I try to search 'CMD' in the dash to open gnome-terminal. Of course : no result ! The idea is to have Gnome terminal (and probably other terminal app installed on the system) being found when searching cmd. This would avoid people like me to every time make the mistake, and newcomers to Ubuntu (student in Network/Telecoms/Programming...) would find what they search instantly what they search : better first impression of being "home" when first days on the system. [Bug 1037256] Re: Sorting items by names do not work properly
I created a new folder TEST on my desktop, with files named 2011 - 06.txt to 2012 - 03.txt, it ordered it well. I renamed them by deleting the "space" ("2011 - 06.txt" becoming "2011-06.txt") for each file, it works too. [Bug 1037256] [NEW] Sorting items by names do not work properly
Public bug reported: When I want nautilus to sort items by names, there seems to be an error when file names have " - " inside (see screenshot). I expected here to have 2011-04 to 2011-12 and then 2012-01 to 2012-07, but it sorted these to pack in the reverse order : 2012-01 to 2012-07 and 2011-04 to 2011-12 (a non natural order as 2011 is before 2012). These are years-monthes, and to resume, it sorts well the monthes, but not the years. To reproduce this bug, create a few files with the same names as in the screenshot and sort by name. The problem occurs too if I ask the reversed order.
