Well, looks like the power manager tweak didn't eliminate it after all. However, I'm now starting to suspect full-screen video as a contributing factor, as my most recent freeze happened only after I watched a full- screen video for the first time since the power-manager tweak, and I had had inklings that full-screen video might be involved even before that tweak. I'll try to run some more tests over the next few days... Yes, I'm pretty sure I was using Flash, but I haven't experienced any problems while watching videos, it's just that it seems like the hang only happens sometime after I had viewed a video in full-screen mode. I was experiencing this problem (screen freezes except mouse pointer, but can still Ctrl-Alt-F1 to a terminal) regularly until a few days ago when I went into power manager and set Put display to sleep when inactive for: to Never (for both AC and battery).
