[Bug 120258] Re: Laptop Battery Time Remaining Outrageously Inaccurate

2008-10-08 Thread Philipp
I can confirm this Bug on my ThinkPad T61, Ubuntu Hardy x86.

1. The power history seems to be wrong and shows a usage of about 9W (I
wish it was so). But powertop shows about 18W.

2. The remaining time is about 2.5 times bigger than the one shown by
the power manager. When about three real minutes go over, then the power
manger makes one minute out of it.

[Bug 362552] [NEW] Evolution does not synchronize in both ways to google calendar

2009-04-16 Thread Philipp Wyss
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Synchronization from Google calendar to Evolution is done correctly.
However, synchronization from Evolution to Google calendar is not done.
Synchronization should be done in both ways...?

Moreover, recurring events, such as birthdays are not synchronized at
all, neither from Google to Evolution nor from Evolution to Google
Calendar.

(Beside this: Sync with a Palm VX works perfectly).

[Bug 222532] Re: Option to connect to "secure webdav" network locations missing in nautilus

2009-03-02 Thread Philipp Kern
** Description changed:

Gnome file explorer -> "File" menu -> "Connect to Server"

You would have the "Secure Webdav" service type available in an option,
at least in Gutsy. Where's it gone ?

  Plus, I have a witness
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=4443027&postcount=128
and then, Sebastien Bacher mentions availability of secure webdav in hardy
(see bug 24731).
+
+ TEST CASE:
+ * In Gnome, click on Places on the top panel.
+ * Select "Connect to Server..." in the now visible menu.
+ * Check if "Secure WebDAV (HTTPS)" is listed in the "Service type" dropdown
box.

Well, gnome-screensaver inhibition (through gnome-screensaver-command -i)
works as expected, so the odds are more likely in kaffeine's field.

Hm, does inhibit (gnome-screensaver-command -i) also deactivate this
turn off feature? It's true that it only blanks the screen and not
lock it. Still it seems that the right hooks aren't called as it
works with vlc & co. just fine

[Bug 365770] Re: Screensaver starts while playing a Video with Kaffeine (missing build-dependency on libxtst-dev)

2009-06-13 Thread Philipp Kern

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: kaffeine

- My Screensaver starts, when I watch a movie with Kaffeine in Ubuntu 9.04
- 64bit. I tried in fullscreen and windowed mode. it doesn't matter. It's
- new in Jaunty. In Intrepid (on yesterday) the screensaver doesn't start.
+ TEST CASE:
+ Start Kaffeine in Ubuntu Jaunty. Watch a video or TV. See that the
screensaver kicks in. (Or not if this is fixed.)

- Kernel:
- Linux punica 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:58:03 UTC 2009
x86_64 GNU/Linux
+ Identified problem: libxtst-dev was not installed into the build chroot
+ due to a missing comma in the build-depends line.

+ Resolution for Karmic: Needs testing if it was fixed by the move to
+ version 1.0 for KDE4.

- kaffeine:
- Installiert: 0.8.7-1ubuntu5
- Kandidat: 0.8.7-1ubuntu5
- Versions-Tabelle:
- *** 0.8.7-1ubuntu5 0
- 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/universe Packages
- 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
+ Resolution for Jaunty: Fix build-dependency line. This is confirmed to
+ be a regression over Intrepid. The regression potential of the added
+ build-dependency is low.

[Bug 151514] Re: rhythmbox uses 100% CPU time when using crossfading

2008-05-25 Thread Philipp Kohlbecher
I might be having the same problem. While playback of mp3 and ogg files
works fine, enabling the crossfader (and restarting rhythmbox) increases
rhythmbox's CPU usage from single digits to about 20 or 30%. This is
more pronounced for certain audio files than for others--though I
haven't been able to discern a pattern yet. Also, starting other
applications or opening other windows sometimes causes audio playback to
stutter.

I am using hardy with rhythmbox 0.11.5-0ubuntu6.

[Bug 218894] [NEW] screensaver events cause gnome-power-manager to switch to full brightness by itself sporadically

2008-04-17 Thread Philipp Rustemeier
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Hi, I'm on a Thinkpad R60e, using Hardy, and gpm is version
2.22.1-1ubuntu4.

My problem is that occasionally, my laptop will just turn the screen up
to full brightness, most noticeably when I'm trying to play a movie or
doing anything after a short period of inactivity. I've looked around a
little, and I think I see the problem. This is gpm's log just after I
pressed a key after leaving the computer alone for half a minute.

Apparently this is where something goes wrong:
[gpm_backlight_brightness_evaluate_and_set] gpm-backlight.c:451 (22:56:22):
 3. idle change by 0,70, brightness 0,70

Disabling the screensaver doesn't help. Are there any workarounds until
this is fixed? It's rather annoying, because I don't like reading at
full brightness (and it's harder on the battery).

Thanks in advance!

2008-04-18 Thread Philipp Rustemeier
Also, since it's basically working like expected, the real problem seems
to be that GPM just restores to full brightness instead of the former
level. Should I change the bug description or something? Sorry, I'm new
to Launchpad.

Sorry, I forgot to attach the output of the PrintingBugInfo script.
Here it is (see attachment).

Surprisingly, printing works using either
- lp command
- lpr command
- using the xpdf viewer.

Rember that evince refuses from printing only with that kind of documents,
where the font properties are all marked as "not embedded".
All *other* documents were printed correctly by evince, so far.

[Bug 164057] Re: problem with keyboard layout swiching

2008-05-06 Thread Philipp Kohlbecher
I am experiencing exactly the same issue as Dagfinn Ilmari Mannsåker.

How can I see my XKB rules? What other information can I provide that
could be helpful?

One additional small observation: Under gutsy, switching worked by
pressing and holding the right Alt key (Alt Gr) and subsequently
pressing the left Alt key. Under hardy, this is reversed, i.e. I need to
press and hold the left Alt key, then press the right Alt key. I don't
know if this has anything to do with this bug.

[Bug 301553] [NEW] Systray icon not shown on 2nd screen in TwinView mode

2008-11-24 Thread Philipp Lies
Public bug reported:

I'm running a TwinView setup: 2 screens, 2 separate desktops, one on each
screen with its own task bar, menu, etc.
When I'm starting an application like skype, amarok or pidgin which reside as
sys tray icon only, the icon is shown on the screen 1 sys tray when started on
screen 1 but nowhere when started on screen 2.
The only sys tray icon shown on both screens is the volume control.
Since no one seems to know this problem (I posted it on ubuntuforums.org and
ubuntuusers.de) and it requires to kill those applications from the console, I
think this is a bug.

[Bug 253579] [NEW] terminal does not handle tab character in last column correctly

2008-07-31 Thread Philipp Kohlbecher
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

If a line has a tab character in the last column, gnome-terminal does
not display the tab.

To reproduce:
> python -c 'print "x"*79 + "\tABC"'

(Assuming that your terminal width is 80 characters.)

Expected behavior:
The terminal should display 79 "x"s and one tab character in the first line,
and the letters "ABC" in the continuation line.

Actual behavior:
The terminal displays 79 "x"s and the letter "A" in the first line, and the
letters "BC" in the continuation line. The tab character is lost.

I am using hardy (updated from a fresh install of gutsy) with
2.22.1-0ubuntu2.

*This may not be a bug in gnome-terminal* - xterm shows the same
behavior.

[Bug 274731] Re: weather radar picture doesn't show up

2008-09-26 Thread Philipp Dreimann
As I never see a picture I think it is reproducible.

The steps are:

1. Add the weather applet to you panel.
2. Go to the settings and activate the radar.
3. Choose any location you'd like to. ( I tried several including e.g. Budapest)
4. Open the detailed view and switch to the radar tab.

[Bug 156765] Re: GIMP 2.4's new print dialog is disabled

2008-01-12 Thread Philipp Sadleder
Today, gutsy-updates/main contains the following update to gimp:

gimp (2.4.0~rc2-3) unstable; urgency=low

  * The gimp package now includes its own Print plug-in, and should
automatically remove the old gimp-print package that was provided by
Gutenprint. If you still want to use the extended Gutenprint Print
plug-in, please install the gimp-gutenprint package.

 -- Ari Pollak <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Tue, 18 Sep 2007 08:25:34 -0400

Unfortunately, the plug-in is simply not installed, /usr/lib/gimp/2.0
/plug-ins/print should be included in the gimp binary package.
