[Bug 1877847] Re: causes freezeups with zsh related to .histfile.LOCK

2020-05-11 Thread Rai
Hi. I don't like having folders like Desktop, Pictures, Videos, etc. in
my home, so I have overrides in ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs:

XDG_DESKTOP_DIR="$HOME"
XDG_DOWNLOAD_DIR="$HOME/downloads"
XDG_TEMPLATES_DIR="$HOME"
XDG_PUBLICSHARE_DIR="$HOME"
XDG_DOCUMENTS_DIR="$HOME"
XDG_MUSIC_DIR="$HOME"
XDG_PICTURES_DIR="$HOME"
XDG_VIDEOS_DIR="$HOME"

So basically my desktop dir is the same as my home dir
(/home/agentydragon), so it makes sense that desktop icons would be
interested in .histfile.LOCK appearing in there.

[Bug 1877847] [NEW] causes freezeups with zsh related to .histfile.LOCK

2020-05-10 Thread Rai
Public bug reported:

This problem only happens to me when I select the Ubuntu WM, not under
Cinnamon. I see it in gnome-terminal.

After I enter a command, like "ls" or "cd" into gnome-terminal and press
Enter, the desktop icons blink out for a split-second, and while they
do, the command does not finish.

This makes it annoying for me to work in the command-line, since I'm
used to most programs responding immediately.

>From my experience, it looks like when a program is already running,
like Vim, and I ask it to do a disk operation, this "blinking out" and
"freezing" does not happen.

I'm attaching a video of this happening.

I've noticed this line in journalctl -b:

[Bug 892692] [NEW] sound input volume sets to 100%

2011-11-19 Thread Saaz Rai
Public bug reported:

Input volume automatically sets to 100% after every reboot. It has to be
set to unamplified manually to be able to record decently. I don't
recall this issue in 11.04.

[Bug 192629] Re: "Cannot move file to trash, do you want to delete immediately?" on NTFS / VFAT partitions

2011-04-27 Thread ha el rai
You must add uid=1000 and gid=1000 to resolve this problem.

Change the FSTAB file like shown below.

/dev/sdb1 /media/SONGS vfat defaults,users,umask=000,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 1
/dev/sdb5 /media/BACKUP vfat defaults,users,umask=000,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 1
/dev/sdb3 /media/FILES40NEW vfat defaults,users,umask=000,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 1

Save the file and restart the computer. Create a folder called
.Trash-1000 in the root of these partitions. Now, when you delete a file
from these VFAT partitions, the files will move to Trash directly.
