[Bug 38477] Re: "Set Status" filter just doesn't work

2008-05-16 Thread Richard Hirner
Please re-open and take a stand at upstream. For reasons, see the
upstream bug.

It quite can't be expected from a non-hacker to understand why mark &
then move works while moving & then marking doesn't. Even if this
behaviour which does not accord to the Gnome User Interface Guidlines
cannot be avoided, a warning message and the hint that the user should
reverse the command order would be necessary.

I met several non-hacking people using Evolution and they all had this
problem and considered this as a bug.

[Bug 235460] [NEW] Filters/rules: "Move" doesn't work as expected

2008-05-28 Thread Richard Hirner
Public bug reported:

The "move" function of the filters/rules doesn't work as anyone would
expect, but copies the message and deletes the original one BUT
subsequent actions like marking the message as read operate on the
orginal, deleted message. The result is that these actions:

1. Move message to folder XXX
2. Mark message as read

don't work as expected. Additionally, the user is not informed about
what "move" really does so there's no way to find out why these rules
don't work except searching Bugzilla etc.

Expected result:
1. "Move message to folder XXX" moves the original message to folder XXX
2. "Mark message as read" marks the moved original message as read

Actual result:
1. "Move message to folder XXX" copies the original message to folder XXX and
deletes the original one
2. "Mark message as read" marks the deleted original message as read

Please see also bug 38477 and related upstream.

[Bug 131739] Re: Cannot place Home Folder icon on Desktop - "you cannot copy a folder into itself"

2007-09-27 Thread Richard Hirner
Sebastien, this may be a workaround. But this is surely not user-
friendly and I don't know why I have to search in Launchpad in
preparation to report a bug in order to be able to create a desktop
icon?

If changing a gconf option is the right way, then Ubuntu should change
this setting when I drag the Home icon to the desktop.

Please re-open this bug.

[Bug 146290] gimp "open from url" doesn't work

2007-09-28 Thread Richard Hirner

* Start GIMP 2.4 RC2

[Bug 146290] Re: gimp "open from url" doesn't work

2007-10-22 Thread Richard Hirner
I don't think this is low-priority because a majority of GIMP users try
to edit and therefore load images from the Web. Many do drag&drop
directly from Firefox into GIMP which is also not possible.

Request for increasing priority to *at least* normal, if not major
because opening images from the Web directly is required for good
workflow and the fix would be very simple (install gimp-gnomevfs by
default).

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gimp

Ubuntu 7.10 Beta

* Start GIMP 2.4 RC2

Request for increasing priority to *at least* normal, if not major
because opening images from the Web directly is required for good
workflow and the fix would be very simple (install gimp-gnomevfs by
default).

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gimp

Ubuntu 7.10 Beta

* Start GIMP 2.4 RC2
* File / Open Location ...
* Enter URL, click OK => error message "Could not open '...url...' for reading:
No such file or directory"

This works in my self-compiled GIMP so I think gnome-vfs isn't compiled
into the packaged gimp or something like that

[Bug 146290] Re: gimp "open from url" doesn't work

Why is this an extra package? I think libcurl/gnomevfs is so basic that
it should be integrated in the "gimp" package.

Request for increasing priority to *at least* normal, if not major
because opening images from the Web directly is required for good
workflow and the fix would be very simple (install gimp-gnomevfs by
default).
