[Bug 297356] Re: tools not working in GIMP (8.10)
As per Murphy's (or whoever) Law, after filing the bug I've found the solution/work-around. I went into the Gimp preferences and added ~/.fonts to the fontpath. After that Gimp seemed to function normally, though I haven't tested everything. The question remains, however, as to why it wouldn't work with what I take is a default install. -- tools not working in GIMP (8.10) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/297356 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gimp in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 297356] [NEW] tools not working in GIMP (8.10)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gimp I am unable to use any of the tools in the Gimp 2.6 toolbox. Clicking on the tool and then trying to use it produces nothing. [Bug 130224] Re: gtkfilechooser save/save as dialog misplaces focus
The situation as I see it now is that if (say, in Bluefish) I want to save a file as 'filename.htm' I choose 'save as' and the original 'filename' is highlighted so that I can type over it if I want (though I'm not sure why it assumes I always want to keep the same htm 'extension'). That much works fine. But if I click on another file and type anything, the name field goes blank and further typing opens a small text field further down the window. It's not clear what (if anything) this does. Similarly, the name field goes blank if I click on another directory. Surely all we need is that the original filename is highlighted and active, and remains highlighted and active until we type over it, or press 'save'. OK. But is this because 0.5.4-6 is incompatible with evince (i.e. evince doesn't work with it) or is it just that something in the packaging system is checking for 0.5.4-0ubuntu8 specifically? [Bug 26439] Editors crash scrolling file with long lines
Public bug reported: I have experienced this problem with Gedit (standard Ubuntu 5.10 installation) and with Bluefish 1.04 (compiled on my dual opteron), so it might be a gtk problem. A file with long lines - e.g.:- http://www.psr.keele.ac.uk/area/uk/ge59/maj.htm will cause the editors to crash if you try to scroll down the document by dragging the scroll bar down with the mouse. While Gedit gives:- The program 'gedit' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadLength (poly request too large or internal Xlib length erro'. (Details: serial 30590 error_code 16 request_code 1 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) [Bug 45611] Re: window selection problems
What I meant by 'doesn't seem to' is that it doesn't work, but I was allowing the possibility that I was doing something wrong. I think the rest should be clear. There are two problems: 1) changing the preference option to having the window made current when the mouse moves over it doesn't have any effect. The steps you take are mentioned above. 2) when the option mentioned in (1) is *not* supposed to be in effect - i.e. when you are using click to raise the window, clicking in a window sometimes has no effect. By saying 'sometimes' I mean that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and I can't find any clear way of reproducing it consistently - other than just using the system. It happens frequently enough to be distracting (every few window changes, where 'few' means somewhere between, say, 4 and 10 though I don't have a record, and I'm currently using 5.10 because it's much more stable in other respects). -- window selection problems https://launchpad.net/bugs/45611 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 45611] window selection problems
Public bug reported: I have Dapper with latest updates on dual opteron and 2.6.15-23-amd64-generic kernel. The option in the system/preferences/windows for selecting windows when mouse moves over them doesn't seem to work. Also, when this preference is not enabled (i.e. when I assume I'm using click-to-raise) clicking in a window sometimes has no effect.
