[Bug 49579] Re: screen doesn't lock when some menu is open
It is still present in Ubuntu 16.04. All as described here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screensaver/+bug/1124282 "If the Windows window is on focus and i am inactive, then my screen is locked after a certain amount of time and should normally ask for my password. But it only does so if a change the focus to a window other than my virtual machine." but it will be locked after a certain amount of time then and only then you click on some area of the host (it's not enough just to move the cursor outside of vm). Otherwise, you will be able to work inside the vm. Moreover, in this case (in conjuction with VirtualBox 5.1.28 r117968) it is possible to bypass the lock screen and unlock the host without needing to enter a password. All you need is just double click inside the vm window (lock screen will blink and disappear). After that you will be able to interact with the host. Steps to reproduce: 1. System Settings > Brightness and Lock. 2. Set "Turn screen off when inactive for" to 1 minute. 3. Turn on "Lock", set "Lock screen after" to "Screen turns off", check "Require my password when waking from suspend" checkbox. 3. Focus to the virtual machine window. 4. Wait 61 seconds. 5. Double click inside the vm. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/49579 Title: screen doesn't lock when some menu is open To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-screensaver/+bug/49579/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1242467] Re: Support docsets
I've prepared a pull request: https://github.com/GNOME/devhelp/pull/2 Unfortunately, it's not so easy to build the devhelp with docset support yet. The docset functionality is located in another shared library because: - I started writing it before I found the DevHelp application - It could be implemented with only a couple of external dependencies - I want to reuse it in some (future) console applications Currently I just build a debian package libdocset0 from github sources (https://github.com/roman-kashitsyn/libdocset) and install it directly with dpkg. You should place (or simlink) docset bundles in a books directory (I use ~/.local/share/devhelp/books) in order DevHelp to see them. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to devhelp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242467 Title: Support docsets To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/devhelp/+bug/1242467/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1242467] Re: Support docsets
I've spent some time profiling and it looks like the issue cause is not the docsets model construction but the tree widget rendering (I can't say for sure without debug symbols). So I suppose I'll limit the tree construction to specific token types (like Guide or Package). Constructing and rendering the whole token tree is too time consuming.
I've implemented some very basic docset support on my local machine. The main problem I've encountered is a significant startup slowdown when there are huge docsets in the books directory. For example, the Java_SE7 docset has about 50,000 tokens which are loaded into memory by the DevHelp on startup. The startup time with Java docset enabled is about 15 seconds on my laptop with a Core i7 CPU and an SSD disk. The search is still quite fast. As I can see, it's not so easy to avoid this problem at the moment. Zeal, for example, uses the sqlite database directly to not load all the symbols into memory. I still can improve my first draft a little bit and prepare a pull request in a few days. But a more efficient approach is obviously required.
I've contacted the Kapeli developer and he thinks it will be great to support docsets in DevHelp or to have a docset->devhelp2 converter. However, it's not allowed to silently download docsets from the Kapeli web site. We can either instruct user to download and install the docsets himself in a user manual or to provide a link to Kapeli web site inside the DevHelp application.
I like that idea very much. Actually, I discovered DevHelp accidentally when I was trying to build a GNOME-specific Zeal analogue (since Zeal code base is really hard to work with, and the application is quite unstable). I've even started development of a portable C-library to work with docsets. So I think I can help with the feature development since I really interested in it and the DevHelp code base looks very mature. However, I think we should contact Kapeli regarding this feature http://kapeli.com/docset_links "These docsets are available for personal use only, to be used with Dash or Zeal. [Bug 1157621] [NEW] access() calls included for debugging hang nautilus on webdav fuse mount
Public bug reported: Nautilus issues access() calls with the filenames that can't possibly exist: [pid 14422] access("MARK: nautilus nautilus_directory_emit_change_signals: start ", F_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) [pid 14422] access("MARK: nautilus nautilus_directory_emit_files_changed: start ", F_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) [pid 14422] access("MARK: nautilus nautilus_directory_emit_files_changed: end ", F_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) [pid 14422] access("MARK: nautilus nautilus_directory_emit_change_signals: end ", F_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) This was created in 2006, http://people.gnome.org/~federico/news-2006-03.html#09 to aid debugging, however as access() is used for testing whether the object exists/can be read/written by the process, these calls actually hit the underlying filesystem. While local filesystems are pretty quick to answer with ENOENT, the remote filesystems, such as WebDAV over FUSE (with davfs2) will need to check with the server for these files every time. davfs2 caches the results, however if the remote filesystem was modified by copying a file there, nautilus will hang until davfs2 finishes uploading the file and is able to answer that access() call in case it was issued with the current working dir set to a directory on davfs mount. I think this method to gather performance information should be replaced with something that does not use access() so that filesystem is not touched at all.
