[Bug 1190752] [NEW] Totem crashes on several lirc commands when NOT in fullscreen

2013-06-13 Thread Roman Polach
Public bug reported:

Totem crashes with message
  Totem:ERROR:totem-fullscreen.c:310:totem_fullscreen_show_popups: assertion
failed: (fs->priv->is_fullscreen != FALSE)
when it receives one of these lirc commands
  volume_up/volume_down/mute/fullscreen/up/down/left/right
while it is NOT in fullscreen mode.

Note: It does NOT crash (and it works fine) while it receives these
commands in fullscreen mode.

totem 3.6.3-0ubuntu6 (raring)
inputlirc 19-1 (raring-universe)

reproducible: always

[Bug 93849] Re: Feature request: Adaptive Multi-Rate Codec Support

2010-01-01 Thread Roman Polach
Note: mixing these licences on user's system is NOT "license violation",
because it is not distribution of these pieces.. It is completely legal to mix
on your own machine software with different licenses, even non-free

at least for ALL free software perfectly legal)

[Bug 494100] [NEW] empathy cannot send/receive Jabber custom smileys

2009-12-08 Thread Roman Polach
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

Pidgin has feature called "custom smileys" (it works at least for jabber).
The purpose is to see the same smiley images in received message as sender
(by sending real smiley image along with text "shortcut").

Unfortunately, empathy (in Ubuntu 9.10) does not support this feature yet,
so this is the feature request for that.

[Bug 289939] Re: Gedit encoding autodetection fails on all cp1250 files

2009-03-21 Thread Roman Polach
Very strange, when I RENAME the file on which gedit's autodetection of UTF-8
failed,
it starts to work correctly.

I have file named "_TODO". It is utf-8-encoded plain file.
In /apps/gedit-2/preferences/encodings/auto_detected key I have 2 items:
UTF-8
WINDOWS-1250

when I double-clicked it, gedit incorrectly detects it as ASCII or so,

but when I renamed it to "_TODO2", it starts to detect UTF-8 correctly.

When I rename it back to "_TODO", it stops working again. Strange.

Does gedit remember somehow encoding of previously opened files??

[Bug 289939] Re: Gedit encoding autodetection fails on all cp1250 files

2009-03-21 Thread Roman Polach
I have looked at it this bug and tried to change that gconf key.

Originally /apps/gedit-2/preferences/encodings/auto_detected key had this
content:
UTF-8
CURRENT
ISO-8859-15
UTF-16

I have add
WINDOWS-1250
to the end of the list but gedit still does not recognize the correct encoding
when I doubleclick windows-1250-encoded file in Nautilus.
Then I tried to place WINDOWS-1250 at the top of the list and then it starts to
work correctly with double-clicking windows-1250-encoded files. But at the same
time gedit's stops to recognize UTF-8 files!!
I tried to move WINDOWS-1250 item after UTF-8 one, so UTF-8 would have higher
"priority", but still no succes:

my auto_detected list is:
UTF-8
WINDOWS-1250
CURRENT
ISO-8859-15
UTF-16

and it surprisingly cannot detect utf-8-encoded files. (But now it detects
windows-1250-encoded files ok).
When I deleted all other items but UTF-8 and WINDOWS-1250, still no change...

[Bug 164591] Re: gimp windows steal focus on start

2008-12-04 Thread Roman Polach
Seems that it is related more to compiz than gimp,
because it cannot be reproduced with metacity.

So for Gimp this should stay invalid, but it should be valid for
compiz..

** Also affects: compiz
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Changed in: gimp (Ubuntu)
   Status: Invalid => New

** Summary changed:

- gimp windows steal focus on start
+ gimp windows steal focus on start with compiz

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: gimp

- In gutsy, gimp windows steal focus on start.
+ In Intrepid, gimp windows steal focus on start.
Most of gnome applications behave correctly: when they
start a bit longer and user switch to other window/application,
then newly launched applications open on background.
But this is not the case of this application.

- Note: This happen both using compiz or metacity
+ This happen only using compiz (not happen with metacity)
+ (in Gutsy I saw it also with metacity, but this fact is probably irrelevant
now)

[Bug 184745] Re: Hinted encoding autodetection to solve autodetection fails

2008-10-27 Thread Roman Polach
Well, if you try to see this report as problem "whenever I open a
cp1250-encoded textfile by double-click, gedit opens it with wrong encoding"
it does not seem like "complicate wishlist" but more like a way that annoying
bug could be solved somehow.

If it wouldn't be solved this way, I hope autodetection will be
corrected another way... see e.g. Gaupol has autodetection that works
well with cp1250...

[Bug 148606] Re: Static network settings while in livecd do not take effect without complete restart of network setting tool and re-assertion of the device checkbox

2008-10-08 Thread Roman Polach
I think this bug is not about static IP (i.e. not dhcp) in network manager
but about static(manual, non-roaming) network configuration, this means
-without- network manager.

"Non-roaming" configuration of networking still needs /etc/init.d/networking
restart
for me in Intrepid beta liveCD.
So if I am not wrong please remove "fix released" flag.

2008-08-10 Thread Roman Polach
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

While default "Menu bar" gnome panel applet is very responsive to clicking,
the same is not true for "Main menu" applet.

Seems like "Menu bar" has always cached menu items and it displays menu
immediately.
But in "Main menu" at least first click after login takes a while (or a long

Subsequent clicks are handled much more quickly.

Well the upstream bug is something different: it is about not remembering

there would be correctly checked items exactly as I have set them,

[Bug 206938] Re: Login Window Preferencs dialog takes a long time to load

2008-04-28 Thread Roman Polach
I have the same problem on my desktop machine.

Sebastien, marking this bug Invalid without finding the number of the original
bug is not
very valuable for people want to cooperate to solve this problem.
And IMHO simply Invalid has other meaning than Invalid/duplicate. The first has
meaning
"this is not a bug" or something similar.

I have found only https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/205126
so this bug can be marked as dupe of 205126?

[Bug 222077] [NEW] GConf Editor menu item should be moved into System->Preferences

2008-04-25 Thread Roman Polach
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gconf-editor

When a tool for editing some system settings is installed,
its menu item usually appears to menu System->Preferences or
System->Administration,
for example: compizconfig-settings-manager or firestarter.
But there is one exception: gconf-editor is in Application->System Tools.
I see no reason to have some "system settings tools" be outside System menu,
so IMHO GConf Editor should be moved into System->Preferences.

[Bug 220352] Re: brasero does not save user settings

I tried it with Hardy + lastest updates (brasero 0.7.1-3~ubuntu1)
the problem still exists and it is even worse. Settings of plugins on/off
are forgotten immediately after closing setting dialog, so now
it is impossible to burn data dvd without waiting half an hour to
completing checksum - all plugins are always on.
I think this should be really fixed for Hardy release.

[Bug 206719] [NEW] czech localization of synaptic menu item title is too long

2008-03-25 Thread Roman Polach
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

The czech localization of synaptic menu item title is too long:
"Synaptic - GUI pro APT, manažer instalačních balíčků"
(translated: "Synaptic - GUI for APT, manager of instalation packages")
compared to other menu items in the same menu (see screenshot)

Text "GUI pro APT" should be removed in any case. It says nothing to average
user
and advanced users knows that synaptic is an apt gui very well.

To be consistent with other items, the title should be probably only
"Manažer instalačních balíčků" or "Manažer balíčků Synaptic" or "Manažer
balíčků".
IMHO last one would be most appropriate. There is also "Text Editor" menu item
instead of "Gedit - The Gnome Text Editor".

[Bug 195887] Re: Automatic subtitle loading should also load e.g. aaa_cz.srt for aaa.avi

Yes of course, but I think the issue is not dependent on file content.
If one renames file 9-11_blueprint_for_truth_cz.srt to

[Bug 195887] [NEW] Automatic subtitle loading should also load e.g. aaa_cz.srt for aaa.avi

2008-02-26 Thread Roman Polach
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

Hardy alpha 4:
Totem(gstreamer) does not automatically load the subtitle file
with an video file, if the names are not exactly same.
I have for example aaa.avi video file and aaa_cz.srt subtitles file
in the same directory. When opening the file in GUI, the subtitles
are not displayed.
In mplayer this subtitle is successfully loaded automatically with
the video file when option 'sub-fuzziness=1' is set.
(It loads any subtitle file with name starting "aaa" when loading aaa.avi.)
It would be nice to have this feature in Totem too.

[Bug 89901] Re: [services-admin] Services' description not quite informative

2008-01-09 Thread Roman Polach
The service settings dialog is most confusing part of default Ubuntu desktop
IMHO.
Users really needs to know what happens if they disable e.g. hotkey-setup or
enable alsa-utils.
Users should get answer to question "When I want to use my disks safe and on
maximum performance,
should I have hdparm service enabled or disabled?" right from this dialog.

Description of services enabled by default should have included information
"If you disable this service, features like . would not be accessible."
and optionally "Never disable this service if you really do not know what you
are doing."
or "This service is essential to applications like "

Description of services disabled by default should have included information
like
"In cases you want to play with do enable this service.." and
optionally
"You don't need this service in most cases."

The one line information could be not enough, so multi-line description
should be considered.

Actually it is hard to find any information e.g. what happens when I enable
alsa-utils:
Description unavailable. Help does not helped. Even if you try google out what
is it for, you
wouldn't be probably satisfied. Forum threads like
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=89491
also don't give the answer.

May be this bug report should be converted to new blueprint?
It would be nice to have it in Hardy LTS.

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

Although bug #117154 is marked as fixed, the problem still exists for other mp3

Example included here.

Description of problem:
Totem/gstreamer displays ID3 tags info when playing MP3 files...
But it does not autodetect correct character set of those ID3 tags nor it
have any support to let user choose character set in Options dialog.
