In /apps/gedit-2/preferences/encodings/auto_detected key I have 2 items: UTF-8 WINDOWS-1250 when I double-clicked it, gedit incorrectly detects it as ASCII or so, but when I renamed it to "_TODO2", it starts to detect UTF-8 correctly. Then I tried to place WINDOWS-1250 at the top of the list and then it starts to work correctly with double-clicking windows-1250-encoded files. But at the same time gedit's stops to recognize UTF-8 files!! I tried to move WINDOWS-1250 item after UTF-8 one, so UTF-8 would have higher "priority", but still no succes: my auto_detected list is: UTF-8 WINDOWS-1250 CURRENT ISO-8859-15 UTF-16 and it surprisingly cannot detect utf-8-encoded files. [Bug 112183] Re: totem-mozilla cannot play embeded video, although mozilla-mplayer does
leon's url does not work for me, nor in Hardy with totem-mozilla, nor in Gutsy with mozilla-mplayer. It seems that stream server is down for me. I tried it today and yesterday too. Thats strange because it works for Pedro. Anyway, the original link http://www.nova.cz/tvarchiv/?238d=21.11.2006&238m=p&238p=112&238v=43116 works in Gutsy with with mozilla-mplayer but still does not play in Hardy with totem-mozilla. -- totem-mozilla cannot play embeded video, although mozilla-mplayer does https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/112183 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for totem in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 89901] Re: [services-admin] Services' description not quite informative
The service settings dialog is most confusing part of default Ubuntu desktop IMHO. Users really needs to know what happens if they disable e.g. hotkey-setup or enable alsa-utils. Users should get answer to question "When I want to use my disks safe and on maximum performance, should I have hdparm service enabled or disabled?" right from this dialog. Description of services enabled by default should have included information "If you disable this service, features like . would not be accessible." and optionally "Never disable this service if you really do not know what you are doing." or "This service is essential to applications like " Description of services disabled by default should have included information like "In cases you want to play with do enable this service.." and optionally "You don't need this service in most cases." The one line information could be not enough, so multi-line description should be considered. Actually it is hard to find any information e.g. what happens when I enable alsa-utils: Description unavailable. Help does not helped. Even if you try google out what is it for, you wouldn't be probably satisfied. Forum threads like http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=89491 also don't give the answer. May be this bug report should be converted to new blueprint? It would be nice to have it in Hardy LTS. -- [services-admin] Services' description not quite informative https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/89901 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
