[Bug 1913222] Re: Shortcut selector should always be on the top of all windows

2021-01-25 Thread Rulon Oboev
It does say that, but still, I think forcing focus on that window is a
good thing, because one can switch windows unintentionally. E.g. having
accidentally clicked on underlying window, or if some other window pops
up.

Anyway, here's the upstream issue:

[Bug 1913222] [NEW] Shortcut selector should always be on the top of all windows

2021-01-25 Thread Rulon Oboev
Public bug reported:

Reproduction steps:

- Open gnome-control-center
- Go to "Keyboard shortcuts"
- Try to change any shortcut (but don't actually change it, just wait until the
"shortcut selector" window opens)
- Switch to another window (alt+tab)

What happens:
I can switch to another window, but keyboard doesn't work (because shortcut
selector is still waiting for my input in background)

What I expected to happen:
I expected a shortcut selector to prevent me from switching windows (aka modal
window).

System info:

Ubuntu 20.10

  Installed: 1:3.38.1-1ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1:3.38.1-1ubuntu1

[Bug 1913218] [NEW] Obscure shortcut selector behaviour

2021-01-25 Thread Rulon Oboev
Public bug reported:

I'm trying to set a shortcut for keyboard layout switching, but it's
impossible to use some keyboard buttons. Also, pressing some
combinations leads to unexpected results.

For example:

- Shift+Ctrl - impossible to set
- Shift+Alt - impossible to set
- Ctrl+Alt - impossible to set
- Shift+Ctrl+Alt - impossible to set
- Shift+Alt+Space - this combination is being detected as "Shift+Space"
- Cmd (Win) + any two or three keys is impossible to set (works with 4 keys
though).

Since Shift+Ctrl and Shift+Alt are very popular shortcuts (due to being
default in Windows for ages), not being able to use them in Ubuntu is a
pain.

Reproduction steps:

- Open gnome-control-center
- Go to "Keyboard shortcuts"
- Try to change any shortcut to one from my list

[Bug 1884660] [NEW] Changing wireless power saving settings disables wifi/bluetooth

2020-06-22 Thread Rulon Oboev
Public bug reported:

What happens:

Changing "Wi-Fi can be turned off to save power" to OFF disables Wi-Fi.
So there's impossible to have Wi-Fi enabled and Wi-Fi power saving
disabled (see screencast).

Same thing with bluetooth. Checkboxes (swithes) disable and enable each
other in completely unpredictable way.

What is expected to happen:

It should be possible to have wireless enabled and power saving
disabled.

[Bug 1883154] [NEW] Nautilus should focus newly created file's name

2020-06-11 Thread Rulon Oboev
Public bug reported:

- What is expected:

After you create a file from context menu (right-click -> New Document
-> New XXX file), its name should be focused and ready to be edited - so
that it's possible to rename it right away.

- What is actually happening:

After you create a file, you have to manually invoke its context menu
and select "Rename".

- Why?

This feature (one click create-and-rename folders and files) exists in
most OS-es (including older Ubuntu versions) and file managers
(including console ones). This is basic functionality that you would
expect from a file manager.
