[Bug 318476] Re: Closing and opening laptop lid causes appearance to change
Can't access launchpad :( Followed the steps at DebuggingProgramCrash and Backtrace. Attached the GDB log. Also ran Valgrind, since I saw a Segmentation Fault error in gdb. Valgrind makes me re-start gnome-settings-daemon under its control. This begins AFTER gnome-settings-daemon has crashed. $ G_SLICE=always-malloc G_DEBUG=gc-friendly valgrind -v --tool=memcheck --leak-check=full --num-callers=40 --log-file=valgrind.log /usr/lib /gnome-settings-daemon/gnome-settings-daemon The program loaded, threw the error "** (gnome-settings-daemon:6492): CRITICAL **: gnome_rr_config_free: assertion `config != NULL` failed" Then returned my bash prompt to me and threw a gnome-screensaver error and finally fixed my window theme. I close and reopen my laptop screen and it goes back to the blueness. I've attached the gdb and valgrind logs. ** Attachment added: "gdb-gnome-settings-daemon.txt" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/21317067/gdb-gnome-settings-daemon.txt -- Closing and opening laptop lid causes appearance to change https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/318476 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 318476] [NEW] Closing and opening laptop lid causes appearance to change
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center When I close and reopen my laptop lid, the theme changes from 'human' to one of the blue ones. [Bug 318302] Re: Going to battery causes slowdown and cursor seizure
Also, interestingly, my trick only works if I pretend to switch to an account that I have not yet switched to. If I use accountb to fix this, then using that account again will not work until I reboot, presumably. -- Going to battery causes slowdown and cursor seizure https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/318302 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to meta-gnome2 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 318302] Re: Going to battery causes slowdown and cursor seizure
Sure. Here are before/after stats: Otherwise idle, just sitting here: CPUs at <5% each (x2) user, <1% sys, almost 2 GB memory, (89 MB free), 0 swap in use, load 0.03, 0.04, 0.09. No CUP hogs, xorg using 1.5% mem, nautilus, gnome-panel, gnome-terminal, and a few perls using 1% each. As soon as I unplug: CPUs spike, xorg steady at 30%, no memory change, load average spikes to 0.62, 0.19, 0.13 No change plugging back in. After my change-account/quit/log in hack, xorg back down to 4%ish -- Going to battery causes slowdown and cursor seizure https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/318302 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to meta-gnome2 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 318302] [NEW] Going to battery causes slowdown and cursor seizure
Public bug reported: On 9.04 alpha 3, clean install, on a Dell Inspiron 1420N, when booting on AC power all is OK, however once I unplug the computer, the cursor will begin to 'jitter' from side to side as I use the trackpad and the UI will become noticeably slower. If I 'switch user' to a different account, at the login prompt click options->quit, and unlock my screen with my password, this problem disappears.
