The following warning is thrown:

Affects all video formats on sftp. Thumbnails are shown for local files and
thumbnails are shown for images on sftp.
All necessary codecs are installed on both machines. And they're both running

[Bug 766876] [NEW] Usability issue in gnome-power-statistics

2011-04-20 Thread Sandeep
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

The gnome-power-statistics window has 3 select options on the left - Ac
Adapter, Laptop Battery, Processor.

Laptop Battery selection has 3 tabs on the right side of the window -
Detail, History, Statistics

If you click on Ac Adapter and then click on Laptop Battery, you are taken
to the Detail tab.
If you click on Processor and then Laptop Battery, you are taken to the
Statistics tab.

This is a usability issue.

Secondly, the icons for Processor is very unintuitive - looks like

[Bug 566134] Re: brightness-applet behaviour is good

2011-02-20 Thread sandeep
Similar to the original poster's problem, I am unable to change the
brightness by dragging the slider or pressing the + and - keys. When
doing so, the applet simply closes. However, I am able to change the
brightness by scrolling up and down with my mouse/touchpad and arrow
keys.

Well, my Fn brightness keys work correctly, so this isn't an issue for
me.

The main problem is that it is quite slow and jerky when using the
applet to change the brightness. The changes used to be smooth and quick
in earlier Ubuntu versions (until Lucid I think). I am using Ubuntu
10.10 64 bit.

[Bug 528543] Re: Optimize battery lifespan option

2010-03-10 Thread Sandeep
@lavinog - I agree on your assertion that it is counterintuitive to keep
a battery at low capacity for a portable device. Which is why I think
having profiles is a good alternative.

By default, let it operate as it is doing now - charge always. However,
a lot of people use their laptops as desktop replacements and it makes
sense for them to choose a optimize battery lifespan - battery will not
be fully charged option.

As I have read on many sites, even charging batteries only when they
fall below 90% is far better than continuous charging. A 90% charge is
still a very acceptable number for portable devices.

Profile-based battery charging gives one the flexibility to tune your
system to maximize battery lifespan.

[Bug 528543] [NEW] Optimize battery lifespan option

2010-02-26 Thread Sandeep
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

This is an enhancement request.

Based on lenovo power manager, the options are

*Always fully charged *: Select this setting to always be charging your
battery on AC mode. I don't recommend this - this is the setting in
Linux.

*Optimize for battery lifespan (automatically change for me)*: I still
do not understand this setting. Right now, it seems to not charge the
battery unless it gets under 96% charge, and then it charges to full.
Its language implies that it changes that charge level based off of a
good compromise between battery life and charge.

*Custom*: I recommend this. Following the Battery Guide, I set my
battery to Start charging when below 20% and to Stop charging at 40%.

This is extremely useful and essential to prolong battery life:

[Bug 309776] Re: jaunty xorg 100% cpu usage

2009-08-19 Thread Sandeep
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 307306 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/307306

Hi All,
I was facing the same issue with my Laptop Compaq - AMD-Athlon-X2 -QL-64,
Nvidia 8200, 3GRam. I am running Ubuntu using Wubi.
top used to give Xorg as 100% of one of the cores if you move a window it
simply shot up, and the other windows used to appear with a curtain effect!!.
Anyhoos, was able to solve it as below

I guess the problem was with the NVidia Drivers download the latest
NVIDIA drivers from the Nvidia
site(http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/linux_display_amd64_185.18.31_uk.html
.. please choose your video card details etc). restart using safe mode
and select the root display and run the command sh NVIDIA... should be
working fine after this. and yes do not forget to update the system
using the update manager...

Hope it helps
-
