[Bug 528251] Re: MySpace accounts in empathy listed as New (null) account

2010-03-26 Thread Scott Shields
I just tested this last night. Seems that Empathy now changes "New
account" to your screen name/login id/etc. upon account
setup completion. During the MySpace account setup, it did say "New
myspace account". Looks like the bug is fixed.

[Bug 531182] [NEW] A 1px vertical gray line displays on the left side of my screen after creating a new file or folder on the desktop

2010-03-03 Thread Scott Shields
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

After creating a file or folder on the desktop via the right-click menu,
a vertical gray line appears on the left-most side of my screen. This
will remain there until logout.

Debugging Steps:
 1. ~/Desktop is empty = No line
 2. Right-click, Create Folder or Create Document > New file = Line
 3. Logout, login = No line
 4. ~/Desktop is not empty, right-click, Create Folder or Create Document > New
file = Line
 3. Logout, login = No line
 4. Open up "new file" in gedit and save to the desktop as "new file 2" = No
line
 5. Right-click on the desktop and select Clean Up By Name = No line

Conclusion: Something bad happens when using the context menu and
creating new files.

[Bug 528651] [NEW] Empathy does not import Facebook Chat's Other Friends list into a group

2010-02-26 Thread Scott Shields
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

When adding a Facebook Chat account, any friends who are not in a custom
list (Other Friends) do not get placed into a chat group in Empathy.
This is inconstant, since all of the other protocols (that I have used
anyways) place friends into groups. This also prevents you from being
able to minimize non-sorted friends.

What I expected: Facebook Chat's "Other Friends" list to be placed in an
Empathy group named "Other Friends".
What happened instead: Other Friends are not placed in a group.

[Bug 528637] [NEW] 1 px black line in the notification area

2010-02-26 Thread Scott Shields
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

There is a 1px black line in the notification area. I don't believe it
was originally there when I installed Ubuntu 10.04 Alpha 3. Probably has
something to do with the Network Manager icon, since when I have other
programs running that use the notification area (ex. Tomboy Notes), it
always displays to the left of the Network Manager icon.

My resolution is 1920x1200. See attached screenshot.

[Bug 528251] [NEW] MySpace accounts in empathy listed as New (null) account

2010-02-25 Thread Scott Shields
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

Similar to a previous bug report,
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/436519.

After a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04 Alpha 3, I figured I'd give
empathy another shot. I used the new account wizard (since I had no
accounts previously created) to set up my IM accounts. After that I
noticed in the Accounts window that my MySpace account showed up as "New
(null) account". Expected it to be "New myspace account".

[Bug 436357] Re: New Download Directory Should Be Renamed to Downloads

2009-09-24 Thread Scott Shields
Suggested by SNuxoll

** Description changed:

To keep it consistent with the other default directories, the new
"Download" directory should be renamed to "Downloads". We have
Documents, Pictures, and Videos. Download (non-plural) seems very out of
place and is just noticeable enough to be annoying. This could be
  considered a "Paper Cut".

This also will prevent duplicate directories since many programs,
especially Firefox, default to "Downloads" when saving a file.

- The questions we need answered are: Who or what created this directory?
+ The questions we need answered are, who or what created this directory?
Is it there just to be there or did a package/application create it? If
it's the latter, please change the "Affects" package accordingly.
+

[Bug 355379] [NEW] Clock applet doesn't display the calendar over a focused window

2009-04-04 Thread Scott Shields
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

When I have Firefox or another window focused and then click on the
date/time on gnome-panel, the calendar appears but is hidden behind the
focused window. Clicking anywhere on the active window or moving the
cursor where the "location list" should be makes the calender appear.
Note that this only seems to happen when the location list is open.

Steps to reproduce:
  1. Make sure you have a few locations added and have the list expanded.
  2. Open Firefox or another window and have it in the upper left-hand corner
of your screen.
  3. Make sure Firefox or your other window has focus and click on the
date/time applet. Nothing should appear.
  4. Click anywhere on your focused window or move your cursor to where "the
location list" should be.
  5. The calender should appear on top.
