[Bug 1181666] Re: gnome-shell randomly blocks mouse clicks from working in app windows

2020-02-27 Thread SimonWerner
I got this problem today and I get it maybe once or twice a month. I'm
running Ubuntu 19.10 with Gnome 3.34.2. Today the problem was occurring
with my laptop trackpad. It corrected itself when I turned on my
wireless Logitech mouse. I keep my GNOME extensions pretty minimal, I
only have GNOME Tweaks and Launch New Instance.

[Bug 1767918] Re: Login password from GDM is shown in plain text on the VT1 console

2018-09-14 Thread SimonWerner
I have tested this with the new version of Plymouth and the problem is
not there. I tested this by upgrading to the latest version Plymouth,
and rebooting. Then trying to reproduce the problem by rebooting again
and pressing CTRL-ALT-F1. My password was not shown in text mode.

However, I have tested this problem over the last few weeks (as I
created the upstream bug report,
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gdm/issues/408) and I have never been
able to reproduce it. My guess that I can't reproduce is hinted by this
comment: "Our systems do often boot quick enough that Plymouth doesn't
have time to activate, too." made in the upstream bug report. Maybe
previously my system booted quicker/slower and I saw the password issue
and now it boots slower/quicker and I can't reproduce it.

Anyway, with the new version of Plymouth it seems to not be any worse.
It would be good if someone else could test it too.

[Bug 285682] Re: Ubuntu 8.10 can't mount digital camera showing a window popup message: -60 could not lock the device message

2009-12-19 Thread SimonWerner
I can confirm that I still get this problem on 9.10. I have installed a
fresh system on new hardware (Acer Aspire 7530). But the camera is the
same (Canon PowerShot S5 IS).

This is quite an embarrassing bug.

[Bug 285682] Re: Ubuntu 8.10 can't mount digital camera showing a window popup message: -60 could not lock the device message

2009-03-28 Thread SimonWerner
I don't agree Sebastien. This is bug. Our use case is that we want to
use gPhotos to download photos, but this does not work, we get an
incomprehensible error message. It took me about 2 hours of searching
online on what to do, but I could find nothing. I just tried unmounting
the camera and it worked. Is this how we are supposed to use gPhoto to
download photos? I think not.

Some suggestions for a fix (order, best to worst):
1) Work with the camera mounted.
2) Auto-unmount the camera
3) Give the user an option - use camera as filesystem or via gPhoto.
4) Ask the user to unmount the camera first (not really a good option).

I mean gThumb in the above post, not gPhoto.

[Bug 285682] Re: Ubuntu 8.10 can't mount digital camera

2008-11-02 Thread SimonWerner
I have the same problem with a Canon S5 IS. The camera is auto-mounted,
then the Import Photos dialog appears and there is the error message.
Unmounting the camera, then running the import again it works. Note,
that I upgraded from 8.04.1, I did not install from scratch.
