[Bug 950717] [NEW] rhythmbox: Problems when unpausing a daapd source after long pause
Public bug reported: I find that the following scenario gives weird behaviour: 1. music files are on another host running forked-daapd (precise) 2. daapd source added locally to rhythmbox and playing 3. pause playback (indicator or application) 4. wait (not sure about the minimum here, about 1 hour?) 5. resume playback I had various effects here: - playback resumes for the current song, then stops about the end. Interface still looks like playing (pause icon display in the app) - In order to revive playback, I pressed pause and playback.. Then suddenly there was a search running to get a html/text plugin. After that failed any song I try to start will get the invalid marker (one way sign). - playback resumes for a short time, then suddenly another song is tried to start and another one, and so on in rapid succession. At some point rhythmbox crashed but that time I did not have the debug packages installed. Feels like after a while forked-daapd may reset the connection and present a text error message which is not handled. Re: [Bug 200337] Re: CD/DVD burning problem in hardy
Understood. The problem with this report was (iirc) that it was sort of old and had a lot of different things mixed. If you could just open a new bug with "ubuntu-bug linux", then say in the description that the same (preferably Karmic) kernel sources with just different configs show the problem or not. Attach the config you used and subscribe me to that bug. That would give a clean start. Also with that kind of problems, it helps a lot to have a detailed description of the physical layout of the drives on the ata controller. How many drives on which port/controller. Are they specially jumpered, how? We had one case where a cdrom was jumpered slave, being the only drive on one controller and the problem was solved just by setting it to master. -- CD/DVD burning problem in hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/200337 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus-cd-burner in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Sorry about the long time without any response. I would like to get a picture about how this issue stand in a) Hardy and b) Jaunty Is this still an issue with the latest kernels of both series (please consider to test Hardy-proposed as well if the current Hardy kernel in updates shows problems)? Unfortunately there also seem to be several issues mixed into this. From possible application issues to kernel problems. Most of them sound as being problems with libata. So as stated by some reporters for Hardy "all_generic_ide" might be a solution. Since Intrepid there is a little more control over libata through libata.force, eg. to force 40cable conntections for decive ata1 one would specify "libata.force=1:40c". ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Stefan Bader (stefan-bader-canonical) -- CD/DVD burning problem in hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/200337 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus-cd-burner in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

To clarify the current situation: the currently available latest version of Intrepid (10.20) will not fix the problem, since the patches went into the repo too late. [Bug 290506] Re: cheese malfunctioning with UVCVIDEO webcams (was cheese doesn't show v4l2 video output and disables output on gstreamer-based apps ran afterwards)
SRU justification: Impact: In Intrepid the change to v4l2 and use of v4l1 compatibility library has caused several issues with the uvcvideo driver which in this case are visible using cheese. Fix: Several patches were backported from the upstream kernel driver and the uvcvideo project to fix those issues. All of the patches are limited to the uvcvideo module and have been tested as part of a PPA build. Testcase: With the current driver in Intrepid the webcams do not work with cheese. [Bug 290506] Re: cheese malfunctioning with UVCVIDEO webcams (was cheese doesn't show v4l2 video output and disables output on gstreamer-based apps ran afterwards)
I'd like to make sure that there is no mistake here. Could those which tested successfully check whether there is probably a duplicate module. As said, the PPA driver only contains some of the upstream fixes since changes after initial release will have a harder time to get in. -- cheese malfunctioning with UVCVIDEO webcams (was cheese doesn't show v4l2 video output and disables output on gstreamer-based apps ran afterwards) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290506 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gstreamer0.10 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 290506] Re: cheese malfunctioning with UVCVIDEO webcams (was cheese doesn't show v4l2 video output and disables output on gstreamer-based apps ran afterwards)
Sorry, this is not committed, yet. Its just in my PPA. I still have to do some SRU process to get this done. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Committed => In Progress -- cheese malfunctioning with UVCVIDEO webcams (was cheese doesn't show v4l2 video output and disables output on gstreamer-based apps ran afterwards) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290506 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gstreamer0.10 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 290506] Re: cheese malfunctioning with UVCVIDEO webcams (was cheese doesn't show v4l2 video output and disables output on gstreamer-based apps ran afterwards)
I put a test kernel package (2.6.27-8.17smb2) to https://launchpad.net /~stefan-bader-canonical/+archive which contains at least some of the upstream fixes (in the kernel tree, not the uvc repo) and the commit patch. Could someone try this and report whether this would be sufficient to solve the problem? [Bug 290506] Re: gstreamer-based apps (gstreamer-properties, cheese) doesn't show the v4l2 video output
This is a little more information taken from another uvcvideo based webcam. As far as i could find information at least camorama is needing the v4l library because it is using the v4l1 API and uvcvideo supports only v4l2. i don't know whether this is true for cheese as well. The uvcvideo module was loaded with trace=255 and one run with camorama and one with cheese was done. ** Attachment added: "camorama trace" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/19054606/trace.camorama -- gstreamer-based apps (gstreamer-properties, cheese) doesn't show the v4l2 video output https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290506 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gstreamer0.10 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
