[Bug 1965219] Re: gnome lock screen does not permit reentering password

2022-09-17 Thread Stefano Rivera
Seeing exactly the same symptoms on a machine upgraded to 22.04, with
wayland. Definitely seems suspend-related, but I haven't figured out
what the problem is, yet.

This was because dpkg won't replace a directory with a symlink. Debian

SRUs to natty and oneiric.

[Bug 875021] Re: Unable to install Pybackpack in Oneiric - missing dependency

2011-10-15 Thread Stefano Rivera
This was expected, see the following changelog entry from gnome-python-
desktop:

gnome-python-desktop (2.32.0-0ubuntu3) oneiric; urgency=low

  * debian/control.in: Drop python-brasero. Brasero is GTK 3 now, thus the
binding doesn't work any more. This will break pybackpack as the only
reverse dependency, until it gets ported to GI.
  * debian/control.in: Drop python-evince. Evince is GTK 3 now, thus the
binding doesn't work any more. This will break current
sugar-read-activity, but this is being ported to GI upstream.

[Bug 642913] Re: python wnck bindings have broken constants again

2010-12-12 Thread Stefano Rivera
IIRC like this was fixed in 2.30.0-3ubuntu1 (don't know why I didn't
close this bug)

  * Merge from Debian unstable (LP: #403078). Remaining changes:
- debian/control:
  + Remove bug-buddy build-depend
  + Add Vcs-Bzr link
  + python-evince suggest evince
+ Replace libevince-dev (which does not exist in Ubuntu) with our split
libevview-dev/libevdocument-dev.
  + Add libtool build dependency.
- debian/rules:
  + Run autotools on build
- debian/python-evince.examples:
  + Add examples for evince
- debian/watch:
  + Watch unstable series

[Bug 550118] Re: Opening new tabs in nautilus loses focus for typing file names

2010-03-28 Thread Stefano Rivera
I can reproduce this.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: nautilus

- Middle clicking a folder/bookmark in nautilus opens it as a new tab. In
- lucid it switches automatically to that tab (useful). However, somewhere
- in this process focus is lost as if one is to start typing, in order to
- jump to a specific file, it does not react at all. Clicking doesn't help
- either and in order for one to fix this one needs to switch back to the
- original tab, click a file/folder and then switch back to your new tab
- and then type-jumping should work again.
+ Middle clicking a folder/bookmark in nautilus opens it as a new tab.
+ In lucid it switches automatically to that tab (if there are files within
that directory, which is a bug in its own right).
+ However, the focus moves from the content to the tab bar, so typing a
filename won't locate that item until the user changes focus to the content
pane.
+
+ In fact, the focus can't be changed with the mouse, but you have to
+ press the Down key.

[Bug 487604] [NEW] Ctrl- key mappings broken for anything but first keyboard layout in GTK applications

2009-11-24 Thread Stefano Rivera
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
* Have two keyboard layouts (e.g. US and US Dvorak)
* Note that when in the first one in the list, all keys function as expected.
* When in the 2nd one, the Ctrl- mappings in Gtk applications use the first
layout.

(gnome-terminal is a good test application)

Workaround:
* When changing layouts for any reasonable amount of work, rather than use the
keyboard layout applet, re-order the layouts in the keyboard preferences so the
preferred layout is on top.

This is a long-standing GTK bug for people who use multiple keyboard
layouts, and as the problem has never been well understood, there are
many misfiled bugs on it (e.g. bug #204202).

Present in karmic and every previous version I can remember.

Re: [Bug 360795] Re: Strange LCD brightness up function implementation

2009-04-14 Thread Stefano Rivera
Hi Steve (2009.04.14_15:33:33_+0200)
This assumes that the brightness is actually being handled the standard
way, with hal and gnome-power-manager. I'm not sure this is the case; I
can't reproduce such a wrap-around behavior on my hardware, so I
suspect this is happening outside of hal's control.

Yes, that it is going through gnome-power manager. Example debugging

[Bug 129139] Re: Illogical default ordering

2007-08-09 Thread Stefano Rivera
Steps to reproduce.

1. Start f-spot as a new user, or:
$ rm -rf .gnome2/f-spot
$ gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/f-spot

2. Then add some photos.
3. Try and watch a slideshow, and advance with spacebar.
4. Notice that the order is incorrect...

[Bug 129139] Illogical default ordering

2007-08-06 Thread Stefano Rivera
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: f-spot

By default, f-spot orders photos in reverse chronological order.

However, slideshow goes in the forward direction, so when you try and
view your photos in a slideshow, they are in reverse, too.

You have to turn on reverse ordering, for the slideshow to work as
expected.

[Bug 94721] USB flash not mounting on insertion

2007-03-22 Thread Stefano Rivera
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hal

This may be a duplicate of Bug #86292 - I don't know.

However, I have quite a bit of debugging information, as this is a lab
of 84 PCs, and we'd like to get this working.

Background:
Authentication is via LDAP (to eDirectory), and accounts are shared via NIS
from the local LAB server. /home is NFS from the same server.

We have one user (the LAB admin, who's account isn't on edirectory, but
in /etc/passwd on the server), and flash drives work for him in KDE. In
GNOME they work manually (gnome-mount), but not automatically.

We are using Feisty, because of bug #65827.

It seems like HAL is picking up the drive insertion, but GNOME or KDE
doesn't get any further.

[Bug 87806] Printing from command line fails Error: ttftool: Incomplete TTF file

2007-02-25 Thread Stefano Rivera
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: abiword
