Wow. I posted this bug a long time ago. I think I fixed it by installing libflashsupport with the 64-bit version of Flash. It may have also been resolved by installing libasound2-plugins. It fails to update its statistics (how many bytes in and out) every second: so if you set the graph to refresh every second, you get 0 and then the double. My only advice is too to double your refresh rate." I've discovered that it's a conflict with Firefox. If I close Firefox, everything returns to normal.
