the dialog looks different and has been split into two dialogs, though the

[Bug 282806] [NEW] 2 screens - nautilus shown on the wrong screen when opened via the panel

2008-10-13 Thread TobiasDomhan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

== Regression details ==
Discovered in version:2.24.0

I am using 2 monitors that are on 2 different x screens, without
Xinerama.

If I open nautilus via Places-somewhat on the second display then nautilus is
opened on the wrong DISPLAY.
opening nautlius via the terminal though doesn't result in this bug.
This bug didn't exists in previous gnome versions.(hardy - gnome 2.22)
this is annoying as with this configuration no windows can be tragged from one
screen to the other.

[Bug 282845] [NEW] regression: mixer applet opens windows on wrong screen

2008-10-13 Thread TobiasDomhan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

== Regression details ==
Discovered in version:2.24.0
Last known good version:2.22.0

I am using 2 monitors that are on 2 different x screens, without
Xinerama.

When I click on the gnome-mixer(on the second screen), the opening bar,
that allows to adjust the sound level, is shown beneath the gnome panel
on the first screen. this wasn't the case back in gnome 2.22

the menu items Preferences and about open windows on the wrong
screen, too. though this is a bug that existed in gnome 2.22, too.
nevertheless it is a bug.

2008-10-13 Thread TobiasDomhan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-session

== Regression details ==
Discovered in version:2.24.0
Last known good version:2.22.0

I am using 2 monitors that are on 2 different x screens, without
Xinerama.

when I try to log out or try to shut down the opening window is always opened
on the first screen, no matter if I use System-Log Out on the panel of the
first screen or on the panel of the second screen.(same applies for
System-Shut down)
It's the same with the Log Out applet. If I click on this the dialog is opened

[Bug 278261] Re: two xscreens - gnome panel crashes

2008-10-07 Thread TobiasDomhan
the problem is that crashes is the wrong word, it just doesn't respond anymore.
a error window is shown, though this is not being filled with any
information(so a empty window with error as the title)
/var/crash is therefore empty.
though this bug seems to not be there on every bootup. I can't see a pattern
until now on when it's there and when not. I am sorry I can't tell more, I will
add something/open a new bug as I find out something new.

[Bug 278261] [NEW] two xscreens - gnome panel crashes

2008-10-04 Thread TobiasDomhan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

kernel: 2.6.27-4-generic
Ubuntu: Intrepid(8.10)
Gnome: 2.24.0
nvidia-drivers: 173
gnome-panel: 1:2.24.0-0ubuntu1

I use the proprietary nvidia driver for my 8600M GT.
I got here 2 Monitors, which run on separate x screens, configured via the
nvidia-settings tool.
If I click a application launcher on the panel of my second screen the
gnome-panel crashes(on both screens).
The panel doesn't do anything from then on, clicking on it anywhere results in
nothing, all other dekstop applications stay alive though.
this happens with and without compiz.

after this bug occurs I got another gnome-panel process
the 3 CPU consuming processes were active even though the bug described wasn't
produced yet btw.

A killall gnome-panel results in a normal gnome-panel process that
uses nearly no CPU, and the bug described above is not there anymore.
Though this bug is there after the next restart.

the same problem exists if you run alacarte as root.
the .desktop files probably are owned by root.
you might go to .local/share/applications an look for root:root files.(there
are other places for .desktop files you might consider those too)
if you know what you are doing you might delete the right files, too.

[Bug 93847] Re: Excessive CPU usage by Gnome System Monitor

2008-07-01 Thread TobiasDomhan
got a really high CPU usage here too
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7300 @ 2.00GHz

a Graph for CPU usage should be as seamless as possible. I'm using an Interval
of 1 second.
Futhermore I have the gnome panel applet monitor enabled, too, which acts like
a CPU mon should, it nearly doesn't use an CPU %.
plus: it shows the CPU grpah before and after opening the System Monitor which
shows that the System Monitor produces the most CPU usage of all programs.
don't know if this is a bug, or the program just fails.

resizing the window doesn't affect the usage here.
