[Bug 483050] Re: Ubuntu 9.10 10.04 Rhythmbox will not play mp3 files stored on my Samsung MTP device

2010-08-11 Thread Tom Muse
I was having the same problem with a Zen Mozaic and I simply checked the Use
Crossfading option under EditPreferencesPlayback then restarted Rythembox and
it worked fine. Not sure if this is a permanent fix or not but I have listened
to 3 songs from beginning to end with no issues. Another note, I didn't change
any of the slider bar options. Mine is currently set to
Crossfade Duration (Seconds) : 0.0
Network Buffer Size (kB) : 32

[Bug 290098] Re: Totem video player keeps playing in slow motion.

2009-03-22 Thread Tom Muse
Charles,
When I installed Ubuntu 8.04 I had to install the java plugins and my wireless
didn't work right away. Also I had numerous sound card issues. I got it all
working after a few days of hitting google and IRC but I had to go through that
on about 5 different computers. I have installed 8.04 on about 8 machines and
I think 5 gave me fits. I also played with KDE4 which looks nice but I ended
up with many duplicate menu options and some stuff just didn't work. All but
one machine is now running Mint and I am actually able to focus on customising
my setup instead of trying to just get it to function properly. One issue that
I wasn't able to resolve in either Ubuntu or Mint is that I only have sound on
the rear speakers even though I have a 7.1 sound card. My front audio jack
doesn't even work because it is setup for the front speakers.

[Bug 290098] Re: Totem video player keeps playing in slow motion.

2009-03-21 Thread Tom Muse
Charles,
I have since moved from Ubuntu to Mint because of a few lingering issues that I
got tired of trying to fix. If you want an OS that works 99% out of the box I
would try Mint. I know this isn't a fix as much as it is a work around but
Mint is built on Ubuntu and they have pretty much set up everything you need
for a fully functional OS. In most cases the wireless drivers work right off
the bat and you don't have to try to load windows wireless drivers. If you do
have to load windows drivers they have a tool setup already for you so you just
get the .ini file for your wireless card and you are off to the races. One of
the coolest things is that you can play DVDs without having to load additional
plugins or codecs and java is already loaded. You can go straight to Youtube
without having to load a single thing.

Hope this helps.

Re: [Bug 290098] Re: Totem video player keeps playing in slow motion.

2008-10-28 Thread Tom Muse
I spent 2 hours last night working on it and I finally fixed it. What I did
to fix it was to remove Totem all together and then reinstall it again.
Then there was an update for Totem that I believe kept if from breaking
again. So far so good.

Thank you for your bug report. Does gst-launch-0.10 playbin
uri=file:///directory/example/video plays it correctly? could you add an
example to the bug? it's likely a gstreamer codec issue

2008-10-28 Thread Tom Muse
A reinstall from Synaptic Package Manager worked in the past but this last
time I had to completely remove Totem and then install it again. So far
this has been the only issue I have had with 8.04 on my Eee PC.

closing the bug since that works correctly now, that's weird though
because a reinstall should makes no difference

[Bug 290098] [NEW] Totem video player keeps playing in slow motion.

2008-10-27 Thread Tom Muse
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

Totem video player keeps playing in slow motion. I fixed it once by
reloading the totem-gstreamer but it has broke again and reloading
totem-gstreamer isn't fixing it. I am running an Eee PC with Ubuntu
8.04 on it. I am trying to play a .wmv and its playing at like 1 frame
per second. I have noticed that quite a few other users have reported
this problem just to have the bug report closed because of lack of info.
Please don't close my bug report, if you need more information just
request it and I will supply. Thank you and I hope we are able to work
towards making this BUG a thing of the past.
