[Bug 351427] Re: Add "Mirror with max resolution checkbox+functionality" to gnome-display-properties
After thinking some time and testing around, I think the feature I want would be most generally descripted by "Mirror with maximum resolution of each screen (let bigger overlap)" This is fixing my problem and that some other may have. ** Summary changed: - Add "use max resolution checkbox+functionality" to gnome-display-properties + Add "Mirror with max resolution checkbox+functionality" to gnome-display-properties -- Add "Mirror with max resolution checkbox+functionality" to gnome-display-properties https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/351427 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 351427] Re: Add "use max resolution checkbox+functionality" to gnome-display-properties
This bug is in some case depending on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/299653, as I want to use the mirrored display, but gnome-display-properties forces both screen to have the same size, but I want that the maximum of both is used. Selecting the wanted resolution in gnome-display-properties is not possible as it would only work if I would place the part of the desktop displayed by this monitor besides and not on the internal monitor. Another possible caption for this wanted checkbox could be "If there I an external monitor available at startup, use it with its maximum resolution". ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- Add "use max resolution checkbox+functionality" to gnome-display-properties https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/351427 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 351427] [NEW] Add "use max resolution checkbox+functionality" to gnome-display-properties
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center Often people have connected two displays with their laptop where the second, external one is not always connected and has another aspect ratio than the internal. Starting up the xorg-server with both connect it falls back to the highest resolution both have. For example using my EeePC 901 with a 1024x768 external display connected it falls back to 800x600. Sure, this is a feature which shouldn't be changed in xorg- server, but I would like to have the max resolution of each screehn, so that my internal display uses 1024x600 and the external 1024x768. At the moment I have to run a "xrandr --size 0" after login. The problem hereby is, that this is not really userfriendly and my gnome-panel gets messed up while the resolution is at 800x600. My wish: - Add a checkbox with the caption "Use max resolution of connected displays" - If this option was checked, directly after the gnome-session was started, the command "xrandr -s 0"(or an equivalent) should be issued, before any application in this sessionn is started ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Add "use max resolution checkbox+functionality" to gnome-display-properties https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/351427 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
