Definitely an issue with the specific softwares, as there are other games which
open in the centre of the screen just fine. Also some of the games described
open up slightly off upper-left corner (20px or so) while others are touching
the border of the screen.

Ubuntu GNU/Linux 9.04
No effects, just plain old Gnome.
There was the browser and some other windows open as i was testing the games to
see which ones open up correctly and which ones do not.

I really do hope that the zillion tasks will not all be just closed, it took me
some time to just test which games open correctly and which don't, then adding
issues to only those specific games took a while.

"Won't fix" would be a more understandable response from some of the teams
working on the games than "Invalid" in this case.

[Bug 203868] [NEW] Icon on file move was more useful before

2008-03-19 Thread Volodya
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Moving (and copying) file dialog has previously displayed the progress
in the place of an icon. This was very useful, currently in Alpha 6
default Nautilus icon is used, is it possible to bring the old 'progress
icon' back?

[Bug 203868] Re: Icon on file move was more useful before

2008-03-25 Thread Volodya
To preproduce:
Copy or move large amount of files from one drive to another.
Notice that in the icon used in the panel for the file move/copy is the default
nautilus icon (i.e. a drawer chest)

I came to expect to have more detail in that icon (i.e. the progress of
the move/copy), and this behaviour did exist in all Ubuntu versions
prior to Alpha 6 that i've tried.

what icon would you use when several of those are running?

When packages are downloaded from the repository there also are two
types of progress, one global for everything to finish and one for each
of the package file. One could apply the same idea to the icon for the
file move/copy.

[Bug 203868] Re: Icon on file move was more useful before

2008-03-26 Thread Volodya
It is very clear that i was making a comparison with the download
indicator for *all* the packages, not the multiple small indicators. As
i have been talking about the old icon since the first post in this bug
it is clear that i am not asking for anything that looks "new".

I think the reason why you are purposefully "misunderstanding" what i
say is because you believe this to be a trivial issue, however, i have
talked to a friend of mine who has switched to Apple and believe it or
not his reasons are all "small", in fact we specifically talked about
file move dialogues with him. On OSX the icon doesn't change, but rather
the button on the bar representing the window of the move becomes a
progress bar in its own right. With the change in icon (regardless of
the reasoning behind it) nautilus and Ubuntu took a step backwards.

P.S. As i am getting upset about the treatment of the issue i'll
probably not post here for a day or two after this message. Don't want
it to become a flame.

[Bug 45750] Re: Moving files now copies them--even within same partition

2008-04-24 Thread Volodya
I can confirm that the nautilus copies and then deletes the files when
moving them from trash.

To reproduce:
Create a large file (the large one will allow you to see the difference between
moving and copying+deleting)
Delete it
Note that the file gets moved to trash almost instantaniously.
Now try to move it from the trash back to where it was.
Note that the file first gets copied from trash, and only then deleted from
there.

It causes other problems besides the speed, for example:
Create the file more than 1/2 of your free disk space.
Delete it.
Try to undelete it by restoring it to the same disk.
You will not have enough disk space (that's because there is no space for the
second copy of the same file).

[Bug 257948] [NEW] gnome panels change order in layout

2008-08-14 Thread Volodya
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome

Gnome panels change order in layout each restart of X Window.

To reproduce:
1. Place both panels at the top, the one with the menu above the one with the
taskbar.
2. Restart the computer.
3. The order of the panels now has changed.

Expected behaviour:
The look of the desktop should be the same at the beginning of the next session
as it was at the end of the previous one. Panels should stay in the same
positions.

Using the fully upgraded Hardy.

This might be related to bug #44082.

** Affects: meta-gnome2 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided

[Bug 136702] Re: nautilus 'replace file' dialog box could give more information

2009-01-16 Thread Volodya
I would also like to have an option to actually open the files, i'd
suggest having an icon for target and destination files, with the
tooltip with the information (alternatively information about files can
be just written somewhere near the icon).

2008-08-14 Thread Volodya
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome

Gnome panels change order in layout each restart of X Window.

To reproduce:
1. Place both panels at the top, the one with the menu above the one with the
taskbar.
2. Restart the computer.
3. The order of the panels now has changed.

Expected behaviour:
The look of the desktop should be the same at the beginning of the next session
as it was at the end of the previous one. Panels should stay in the same
positions.

Using the fully upgraded Hardy.

This might be related to bug #44082.

Definitely an issue with the specific softwares, as there are other games which
open in the centre of the screen just fine. Also some of the games described
open up slightly off upper-left corner (20px or so) while others are touching

There was the browser and some other windows open as i was testing the games to

I really do hope that the zillion tasks will not all be just closed, it took me
some time to just test which games open correctly and which don't, then adding
issues to only those specific games took a while.

"Won't fix" would be a more understandable response from some of the teams
working on the games than "Invalid" in this case.

[Bug 203868] Re: Icon on file move was more useful before

2008-03-25 Thread Volodya
To preproduce:
Copy or move large amount of files from one drive to another.
Notice that in the icon used in the panel for the file move/copy is the default
nautilus icon (i.e. a drawer chest)

I came to expect to have more detail in that icon (i.e. the progress of
the move/copy), and this behaviour did exist in all Ubuntu versions
prior to Alpha 6 that i've tried.

[Bug 257948] [NEW] gnome panels change order in layout

2008-08-14 Thread Volodya
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome

Gnome panels change order in layout each restart of X Window.

To reproduce:
1. Place both panels at the top, the one with the menu above the one with the
taskbar.
2. Restart the computer.
3. The order of the panels now has changed.

Expected behaviour:
The look of the desktop should be the same at the beginning of the next session
as it was at the end of the previous one. Panels should stay in the same
positions.

Using the fully upgraded Hardy.

This might be related to bug #44082.

[Bug 221347] [NEW] Undelete copies and deletes the file rather than moving

2008-04-24 Thread Volodya
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Tried to post it as a confirmation to another bug but was told that it's
a separate issue:

To reproduce:
Create a large file (the large one will allow you to see the difference between
moving and copying+deleting)
Delete it
Note that the file gets moved to trash almost instantaniously.
Now try to move it from the trash back to where it was.
Note that the file first gets copied from trash, and only then deleted from
there.

It causes other problems besides the speed, for example:
Create the file more than 1/2 of your free disk space.
Delete it.
Try to undelete it by restoring it to the same disk.
You will not have enough disk space (that's because there is no space for the

[Bug 221347] Re: Undelete copies and deletes the file rather than moving

2008-04-25 Thread Volodya
1. The specific steps can be found in 'To reproduce' section of my original
post (as well as 'example').
2. I expected undelete action to move the file from trash rather than copying
it and then deleting it from trash upon the successful copy.
3. I have encountered copying the file and then deleting it from trash

[Bug 257948] [NEW] gnome panels change order in layout

2008-08-14 Thread Volodya
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome

Gnome panels change order in layout each restart of X Window.

To reproduce:
1. Place both panels at the top, the one with the menu above the one with the
taskbar.
2. Restart the computer.
3. The order of the panels now has changed.

Expected behaviour:
The look of the desktop should be the same at the beginning of the next session
as it was at the end of the previous one. Panels should stay in the same
positions.

Using the fully upgraded Hardy.

This might be related to bug #44082.

[Bug 194901] Re: GIMP default save directory

2008-03-31 Thread Volodya
I agree with this, having directories which aren't used creates a strong
sense of something 'incomplete'.
