[Bug 1765244] [NEW] gnome-control-center crashed with SIGABRT in g_assertion_message() while testing speakers on atom 2in1

2018-04-18 Thread Zachary Dea
Public bug reported:

Having trouble with the sound on my azpen x1150 2in1 which is an atom
chipset which linux hasn't fully caught up with yet. Regardless, while
trying a work around that others have had success with on similar chips
the work around succesfully allowed the intel audio devices to show up
in the sound control panel but while attempting to test the speakers to
prove it worked the control panel app crashed.

I'm experiencing this on my laptop and hooked up to an HP 22cwa 1080p

like the buttons are dead and the logic behind the gui isn't doing what
its supposed to. Tried reinstalling gnome-control-center and nothing.

[Bug 1693964] [NEW] Menu Bar Becomes Unresponsive On Lock Screen

2017-05-26 Thread E. Zachary Knight
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Version: 16.10 and 17.04

gnome-screensaver: 3.6.1-7ubuntu5

Expected Functionality: I expect to be able to interact with the top
menu bar from the lock screen in a multi-screen setup.

Current Functionality: In Ubuntu 16.10 and 17.04, when locking the
screen either by letting the system idle or manually locking the screen,
the ability to interact with the top menu bar becomes unresponsive. The
ability to switch users, shutdown the system, check battery status, view
calendar, etc is no longer accessible.

This has been tested on two laptops running 16.10 and one after
upgrading to 17.04. Both systems have a multi-screen setup. This only
happens after changing focus from the initial locked screen to another
screen. As long as the mouse cursor is not moved to another screen, you
can access the top menu bar. Once focus changes to another screen, all
top menu bar functionality is gone until you log in as the current user.

This was tested in Ubuntu 16.04 and the bug was not present.

[Bug 505765] Re: gedit problem with long lines

2015-04-14 Thread Zachary
Hello,

here is a bit of update of what Morgane reported, it seems that there are
specific characters with which you can reproduce this bug like "(", "[", "{",
"$", "\" ... (there may be others).
When those are followed by a lot of space chars the cursor position on the
screen and the position it seems to be on, aren't the same. Furthermore if you
try to delete the last character you end up deleting characters that are above
the cursor and the cursor itself isn't moving from its position.

We explored Gedit's source code and we doubt that this is a Gtk issue.
We posted a message on Gtk's bugzilla to ask them if they can confirm it
is related or not. If anyone has any updates to make let us know.

[Bug 1441241] [NEW] Ubuntu Nexus 4 does not detect location

2015-04-07 Thread Zachary Igielman
Public bug reported:

Whenever I try to locate myself, the app/scope/whatever I am using does
not manage to locate me even if location detection and GPS are on. The
only way I manage to locate myself is through being connected to a
wireless network.

I have tried using different apps and scopes that all use location data
and none of them receive any GPS information unless I am on a wireless
network.

I never turn GPS off and I live in central London so there is no way it
cannot find a GPS fix (I also have spend a lot of time outside and still
no luck). I am using the OSMTouch app and it spends 20 seconds trying to
locate me and comes back with Geolocation failed.

This is using a Nexus 4. I have tried the current stable and devel-
proposed channels.

I asked on IRC this morning to find other people having issues with
Nexus 4 GPS including one person who said: 'on the N4 i actually have to
leave the device outside on the window shelf for 20-30 min to get GPS at
all.'

Is this a known issue with the Nexus 4? Is there a fix for this? Can
anybody help fix this?

[Bug 965320] [NEW] Cannot sync music or podcasts to 5th generation iPod Nano

2012-03-26 Thread Zachary Rubenstein
Public bug reported:

Expected behavior:

When moving a podcast or music file to a 5th generation iPod Nano using
rhythmbox, the file should be available to play on the iPod using the
iPod's onboard interface.

Actual behavior:

When I attempt to copy either podcasts or music to the iPod using
Rhythmbox, the file is moved to a subdirectory of /iPod_Control/Music as
expected, but after ejecting the iPod, the onboard interface does not
report that the file has been transferred. That is, the iPod reports
that it has 0 podcasts and 0 songs, then I drag a podcast onto the iPod
in rhythmbox, and, although the file has been copied, the iPod continues
to report that it has 0 Podcasts and 0 songs .

The iPod has recently been restored to factory settings with Windows
iTunes, although this behavior also occured before the restore.

This issue also occurs when using banshee.

[Bug 951836] [NEW] Widgets misaligned in xfce

2012-03-10 Thread Zachary Rubenstein
Public bug reported:

As one can see in the attached screenshot, the widgets in rhythmbox are
misalligned. The slider that depicts progress through the song obstructs
the name of the song and the artist. Also, the bottom of the album cover
should be flush with the bottom of the track list, but it is not.

The environment is xfce as installed from xubuntu-desktop

It is possible that this was not an issue before changing the xfce style
to radiance and then back to graybird, but at this point, reverting to
the original theming does not resolve the issue.

[Bug 689523] Re: Uninstalling Evolution through USC does not remove evolution-common

2010-12-13 Thread Zachary Dunn
The usability problem is not the fact that an unused package is left on
your computer taking up space, it is the fact that two dead menu entries
are created.

Imagine an "average user" browsing through the software center sees
Evolution and thinks "Hey, I use Gmail and never use that program. Ill
uninstall it." Later they are finding a program in their 'Office'
applications and see Evolution listed. This creates confusion. An
average user might think to themselves, "why is that still there? Maybe
I have to delete items manually?" There is also an item left in the
system preferences menu titled "Email settings" which is specific to
Evolution. Clicking either of these brings up the error message:

Could not launch 'Evolution'
Failed to execute child process "evolution" (No such file or directory)

The point is that this bug creates confusion and unnecessarily cluttered
menus. I am no expert but it seems that it should be relatively easy to
fix. Uninstalling evolution-common removes both the dead menu items, so
the fix would be adding evolution-common to the list of packages removed
when you uninstall Evolution from the software center.

Guys, whenever you're having power management or ACPI issues, always update
your bios before reporting a bug.

Unfortunately, Linux seems to be much more sensitive to these things than
Windows . . .

Not only is this problem causing sudden shutdowns or suspensions of the
netbook (sometimes with embarrassing results like in a classroom
situation where I have spent time talking about the benefits of open
source software), but it causes the power-management records to be
wildly inaccurate, even when using "smooth lines." There seems to be
several issues with the Aspire One and 10.04 with regards to power
management. I hope these issues get moved higher up the triage list.

[Bug 572985] [NEW] backup settings option uses unhelpful yes/no dialog

2010-05-01 Thread Zachary Pletan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

In latest Ubuntu Lucid (YAY!) with Evolution 2.28.3 (2.28.3-0ubuntu9), if I go
to backup my settings (File->Backup settings), I am presented with a File Save
dialog (which is just fine), and then a dialog box warning me that I should
close Evolution.
This dialog, however, is an unfriendly and unhelpful yes/no dialog; further,
the text of the dialog does not even make it clear which button to select to
close Evolution.
This dialog should probably have two buttons - one reading, "Cancel", and the
other, "Close Evolution".

[Bug 190383] Re: last.fm plugin no longer scrobbles

Same problem here - must be a change from last.fm? This has happened to
me only recently (either today or yesterday).

[Bug 187543] [NEW] Extra characters inserted when editing forms

2008-01-30 Thread Zachary Blair
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

Version: Evince 2.20.1 using using poppler 0.6.2 (cairo).

After inserting text into a form and clicking outside the field to
change focus, the text is redrawn with extra "square with a cross in it"
characters inserted between every character I typed.

To reproduce:
  1. Open a PDF file with editable fields
  2. Insert a few lines of text
  3. Click on another part of the PDF document
> Notice that the contents of the field unexpectedly contains many "square
with a cross in it" characters.

I will try to add a screenshot and the PDF document I used to this bug
report once I figure out how to.

[Bug 144292] overfilling iPod crashes rhythmbox

2007-09-23 Thread Zachary Berry
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Ubuntu 7.04, RB 0.10.0, iPod 4G 40GB.

When moving a large number of files to the iPod via RB, if the iPod runs
out of space a pop-up error window will open on every song that still
needs to be transfered over. This caused X to crash (since I still had
probably 20 GB to go!), resulting in a sudden restart of my system.
Ideally only one pop-up error would show.

[Bug 144273] transfering songs to iPod incorrectly modifies the year id3 tag

2007-09-23 Thread Zachary Berry
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I'm using Ubuntu 7.04, RB 0.10.0, and I have a 4G iPod 40GB. When I
attempt to transfer songs to my iPod using RB (either via firewire or
usb 2) the year information is changed.

For example, with the following songs in my library:

* Title, Genre, Artist, Album, Year
===
* 1 - Vaka, Alternative, Sigur Ros, ( ), 2002
* Intro, Hip-Hop, De La Soul, 3 Feed High and Rising, 1989
* Vertical, Electronic, 4mat, 8BP050, 2006

Once transfered on my iPod they become

* 1 - Vaka, Alternative, Sigur Ros, ( ), 9955
* Intro, Hip-Hop, De La Soul, 3 Feed High and Rising, 5207
* Vertical, Electronic, 4mat, 8BP050, 11416

This happens to every song. I believe that it doesn't happen every
time, but its been a while since I last transfered music and I can't
completely remember if I have seen it work correctly before.

I can supply whatever additional info is needed.

Thanks, I heart RB.
