My dvd drive tries to work When I put a cd audio, it reads the data information, but when I hit play it makes a loud noise and you can see the slider moving but only noise is what I hear. When I put a DVD, it does nothing, or in one case it showed a first image and stopped there like a still picture. The pc however can play sounds from the internet, and the movie player can play quicktimes trailer movies, but no DVDs, no audio cds. Do I need a Lynux drivers for my DVD drive, and if so, where can I find these? Currently I have two DVD drives: one is a Sony and the other is a Toshiba.
