I can't reproduce the bug with Ubuntu 14.04.1, expand behaves correctly
now and doesn't crash the panel.
You can mark this as fixed.

[Bug 983920] [NEW] [usability regression] drag-and-drop from gnome-panel copies the folder

2012-04-17 Thread benpicco
Public bug reported:

In Gnome 2, Ubuntu had a patch applied to gnome-panel that would create a
shortcut to the folder when it was dragged and dropped from the 'Places' menu
to the desktop.
In 'Gnome Classic' session Gnome 3 panel, this patch is not applied, so a copy

[Bug 983927] [NEW] [usability regression] Adding applets to gnome-panel has become harder

2012-04-17 Thread benpicco
Public bug reported:

When running the 'Gnome Classic' mode, applets can be added to the panel
like in Gnome 2, but it has become signifcantly harder and requires
alt+right click (ctrl+right click?) now - and does not work all the
time.

So this is actually two bugs, one that alt+click doesn't always work, but more
importantly that it's required to begin with.
Many users won't know that it's still possible to add applets in the 'Gnome
Classic' session.
