Update: I set the power management to "do nothing" when laptop lid is closed on AC power. This bug is quite ancient, but I seem to have the same problem with my Eee PC running Hardy. I realize the logical default behavior may be to turn off all displays when the laptop lid is closed, I just need to know how to make a change to that behavior, since I would prefer to close the lid while using an external monitor. [Bug 231399] Re: rhythmbox will not play music from cd
Same problem here. I had meddled with ALSA and PulseAudio settings, since upgrading to Hardy, while trying to make audio capture work. I was unsuccessful, and may have broken Rhythmbox somehow. I have also messed with codecs and the medibuntu repo since then, trying to fix DVD playback, which was successful, but also may have broken Rhythmbox.
