[Bug 1270579] Re: On laptops, screen brightness and keyboard backlight isn't memorized between sessions
some workaround: to disable touchpad, add a line in .bashrc gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.touchpad touchpad-enabled false another way to adjust brightness: 1. cd /sys/class/backlight/$COM_backlight/ 2. check the value in the file: max_brightness 3. sudo open the file:brightness and set it to [0, max-brightness), NOTE: MUST < max-brightness. for convinence, create a shell script, and sudo it. #!/bin/bash # NOTE: the prefer value MUST < max-brightness. echo "you prefer value" > /sys/class/backlight/$COM_backlight/brightness reference: http://askubuntu.com/questions/540911/how-to-adjust-screen-brightness-in-ubuntu-14-04 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1270579 Title: On laptops, screen brightness and keyboard backlight isn't memorized between sessions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/dell-sputnik/+bug/1270579/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Hello Runner, yes, I can confirm that the 3.3.6 kernel is very stable on my computer. I never encountered those freeze any more. just a little problem in the VirtualBox. sometimes, the virtual machine disappeared. I think it's in the virtualbox kernel modules because when I compile those modules, it showed something warning. nevertherless, because I seldom use virtualbox, so, I don't think it's a problem. please try the steps in my post #7, and some posts below it. the kernel 3.3.6 is really great and I am currently using: uname -a Linux delta3 3.3.6-030306-generic-pae #201205121335 SMP Sat May 12 17:49:55 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-nettool in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1168467 Title: phy0 - rt2800pci_mcu_status: Error AND [drm:gen6_sanitize_pm] *ERROR* To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-nettool/+bug/1168467/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
