[Bug 189774] Re: seahorse shows passwords without verification
Indeed. I want also to stress that this is a very serious security issue (e.g. when working in environments with multiple working people, in the train, etc). Before ending here, I just figured out that I could display my login passwd in seahorse without any security barrier as well. It basically takes 10 secs for anybody to read one's login passwd in clear text. [Bug 50534] Re: Disk mount applet can not mount a luks encrypted partition
It's not really an issue anymore: - nautilus does not display anything about this encrypted partition (There's nothing in /etc/fstab, maybe that's the reason) - to mount it, I use pmount /dev/sda8, which works fine on condition to add /dev/sda8 in /etc/pmount.allow Si I've created a launcher to call this properly. Of course this would be nicer if nautilus was able to handle it properly. -- Disk mount applet can not mount a luks encrypted partition https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/50534 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 204222] [NEW] Switching appearance preferences to extra or normal from Custom looses user's preferences
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center Config: Gusty - gnome. [Bug 48196] Re: gnome-hal fails to handle encrypted HD partition correctly
I'm using Feisty now, and things have changed: - I can mount the partition using pmount (pmount /dev/sda6), and it gets mapped to /media/disk, which makes sense. Still, I have strange behaviour: - just after mounting, I get a graphical message (from nautilus ?) saying that only root can access my disk, which is obviously wrong since I can browse it afterwards - once the disk is mounted, hal (or pmount ??) seems to remember my passphrase (I can click on the disk in the disk mounter utility, select mount, and the disk mounts without passphrase), which is something I do not want at all: I expect that, when umounting the device, the passphrase should not be stored anywhere. That's a large security hole. And that's a new behaviour. [Bug 48196] gnome-hal fails to handle encrypted HD partition correctly
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have an encrypted partition on my hard disc (/dev/sda6, which is not the home-dir partition, but simply an additional private region of my HD). When I log in, gnome-hal (?) asks me for the password, then hangs if the passwd is correct. To correct this I added /dev/sda6 in /etc/pmount.allow, but now the mounted partition appears as /media/usbdisk, which is incoherent (It should be named sda6 at least) If I press on cancel in the passwd box, everything goes on well, and I can mount my partition with pmount from a term, passing a correct label as argument. Once mounted, this partition cannot be umounted using the disk applet, which complains that 'you are not root'. It can be umounted with pumount without any problem (and without sudo) ** Affects: gnome-volume-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Assignee: Paul Dufresne Status: Incomplete -- gnome-hal fails to handle encrypted HD partition correctly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/48196 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 107422] Unexpected display of /etc/group nfs entry in the user setting interface.
You have been subscribed to a public bug: When using a user/passwd nfs server one needs to add +::: in /etc/group and +:: in /etc/passwd. [Bug 50534] Re: Disk mount applet can not mount a luks encrypted partition
I'm sorry, but this was a long time ago, and I'm now using edgy. In the present case, the disk mounter applet does not display anything about the encrypted partition, and I mount it using: pmount /dev/sda6 private this mounts the device in /media/private. [Bug 50534] Disk mount applet can not mount a luks encrypted partition

When clicking on the icon, I get a menu with entries mount 2GB volume (enabled) and open 2GB volume (disabled, which makes sense). Still ok.
