[Bug 1784965] [NEW] EOG hangs when loading a (possibly corrupted) jpg file

2018-08-01 Thread dmiller309
Public bug reported:

When I load the attached image in EOG, it uses gigs of memory, gets
corrupted window decorations, and makes some mouse input in gnome-shell
not work. Chrome and the Mac photo viewer load the image and don't bring
the system to its knees.

[Bug 1774053] [NEW] Missing characters in and after lock screen

2018-05-29 Thread dmiller309
Public bug reported:

I locked my screen, came back from lunch, and found that about half the
characters in the lock screen were missing. After I logged back in, half
the characters in the desktop were missing
(https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mIDF4_jY0PIFOT53FoOOVoTY1BWeaNfy/view?usp=sharing).
Chrome and Nautilus are not missing any characters, just the system UI.

[Bug 1771902] [NEW] Can't enter password in lock screen after running "gnome-shell --replace"

2018-05-17 Thread dmiller309
Public bug reported:

Gnome Shell stops accepting mouse input from time to time, and when it
does I run "gnome-shell --replace" to get mouse control back. After
running this command, I can't log in because it's as if the ENTER key is
pressed every half second on the login screen. The lock screen tells me
that I typed in the wrong password and clears the password input. I
can't type my password in half a second.

I can workaround this by bug pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1 which makes the lock
screen's password input form stop clearing its input. This isn't the
ideal workflow though because I have workarounds on workarounds.

[Bug 1741588] Re: Categories in Ubuntu Software don't work

2018-01-17 Thread dmiller309
It happened on a fresh login for all categories in the software store on
16.04. I upgraded my 16.04 machine to 17.10, but I could wipe the OS
partition and reinstall 16.04 this weekend to test if the software store
still has the same problem with displaying categories.

[Bug 1741588] Re: Categories in Ubuntu Software don't work

2018-01-09 Thread dmiller309
Polarr is a Snap, but the bug I intended to report here is that on
16.04, none of the items in the category list display or are clickable.
The screenshot attached to the original bug report illustrates the
problem. I couldn't say for sure whether Polarr is in the list or not
because each of the apps display as a box with an ellipsis inside: no
icon or text. One weird thing I when switching between categories is
that none of the items in the list for each category render or are
clickable, but there are different amounts of items in each category. I
know I had an internet connection because I was on a video call.

During a demo of the new Polarr Snap I was asked whether the Polarr Snap
is in the Software Store and if it showed up under the Graphics
category. I could bring up Polarr by searching for it directly. It was
kind of embarrassing though when none of the categories in the store
worked. We link our existing users to our snapcraft.io/polarr page, but
we're not featured, the categories were broken on 16.04, and we don't
show up under categories on 17.10, so there is currently no way for new
users to find Polarr in the Software Store.

Thanks for your patience, I know that y'all have a lot of work to do
with all the new Snaps coming out. I've seen categories in the Software
Store work before and maybe this is just a temporary regression; I just
wanted to share this in case you weren't aware of the problem.

[Bug 1741588] [NEW] Categories in Ubuntu Software don't work

2018-01-05 Thread dmiller309
Public bug reported:

I'm a developer on the Polarr team for Linux, and users should be able
to find the Polarr app under the Photography category of the Ubuntu
Software store.

I attached a screenshot of the Photography category in the Ubuntu 16.04
Software store. The other categories are similarly non-functional.

As you can see, there are only ellipses where there should be icons and
descriptive text for each of the photography applications. Clicking on
the items doesn't do anything.

[Bug 1182301] [NEW] Totem DBus pause method doesn't work

2013-05-20 Thread dmiller309
Public bug reported:

The Play() method works, as does the PlayPause() method, but the Pause()
method does nothing. I'm writing an application that uses the Pause()
method for media players, and Rhythmbox and VLC work fine, but Totem
requires the workaround that Pause() be replaced by PlayPause().

If you're using qdbusviewer or something like that, you can locate the bug here:
Session Bus
Service: org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.totem
Object: /org/mpris/MediaPlayer2
Interface: org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.Player
Method: Pause

Relevant files:
/usr/lib/totem/plugins/dbus
I tried to fix the bug by changing the contents of the Pause(self) method to
@dbus.service.method (dbus_interface = 'org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.Player',
  in_signature = '', # pylint: disable-msg=C0103
  out_signature = '')
def Pause (self):
if not self.totem.is_playing ():
return
self.totem.action_play_pause ()
because the Play and PlayPause methods work fine, but this wasn't successful.

Related problems:
* Totem's Unity right-click menu is inconsistent with Rhythmbox's.
Totem's menu has play/pause as one entry
Rhythmbox lists play and pause separately, but play does nothing if
Rhythmbox is playing and pause does nothing if Rhythmbox is already paused.
* Totem doesn't have DBus enabled by default.
* Totem's DBus integration is nonstandard (Bug #642172)

Thanks.

[Bug 1159083] [NEW] gnome-control-center crashed with SIGSEGV on default web browser change to Web Browser

2013-03-23 Thread dmiller309
Public bug reported:

System settings Details Default applications Web set default
browser to Web Browser.

I'm not sure, but I think web-browser is sensible-browser, which is the
default browser. So by setting the default browser to Web Browser, I
was setting the default browser to itself which apparently caused a
problem. If this is the case, Web Browser should not appear in the
list. I have xubuntu-desktop installed (but wasn't using it when I
experienced the bug), if that's the kind of thing that would make the
Web Browser entry appear in the list.

[Bug 711355] Re: Songs synced to iPhone 4 do not appear in iPod app

2011-09-06 Thread dmiller309
My iPhone 3GS is using iOS 4.2 and I had just reset all of the settings. This
is what I did leading up to the iPhone being filled up with other:
1. Synced my music library with iPhone. The music didn't all fit on the iPhone,
but it was listed as music.
2. Banshee doesn't have the option like Songbird to organize music folders, so
I closed Banshee, moved all of my music to an external drive, started Banshee,
and had Banshee import the songs back in, copying the files to their
destination.
3. I plugged my iPhone into my computer and synced it with a different playlist.
At this point, Banshee says that my iPhone is completely filled with other,
and according to my iPhone there is 0 free space. The iPod app says that I
don't have any content, and I have no way to remove the other from my iPhone
so as to be able to install applications. The iPhone presented a dialog while I
was looking at the iPod that there was something wrong with the pictures app
that needed my attention, and when I went to the pictures app, it complained
that I couldn't add any more pictures because there was no space. I tried
looking at the iPhone with gtkpod, but it popped up 3 dialogs saying that I had
to initialize the iPhone, and I clicked okay for the first one and cancel for
the remaining dialogs. Now, whenever I start Banshee with my iPhone plugged in,
it promptly crashes after consuming 100% CPU for some time. I'm kind of
wondering why this feature is included in Ubuntu at all, since it fills up my
iPhone with inaccessible music and consumes 100% of my CPU while crashing
Banshee. I attached the terminal output of running Banshee with the iPhone
plugged in.

[Bug 508452] Re: wnck-applet crashed with SIGSEGV in g_closure_invoke()

2010-03-22 Thread dmiller309
I think that this is my bug. I'm running 64 bit 10.04, and my appearance
preference for Normal visual effects as opposed to None is never
remembered after reboot. I manually went into
preferencesAppearanceVisual Effects and set them to normal. After
doing this, my four workspace switcher applet boxes that were arranged
in a square were rearranged side by side with space below them (in a
4wide x 2tall configuration, with nothing on the bottom). I right
clicked the applet to fix this, and after doing this, the applet
crashed. After choosing to reload the applet when prompted, the
application now displays properly (back to a 2x2 square). This has
happened before. For some reason, the window list applet also crashed,
and also reloaded successfully. I do not recall having experienced this
bug in 9.10.
