[Bug 532633] Re: [light-theme] please revert the order of the window controls back to "menu:minimize, maximize, close"

2010-03-20 Thread double
Moving the buttons left is a *big* step ahead. User look from the top-left to
bottom-right. Currently I am a KDE-user (Kubuntu) but will switch to GNOME
with lucid. Aligning the title left is also a very good idea. I never liked
centered titles.

[Bug 284967] [NEW] System Log Viewer does not show history for /var/log/syslog

2008-10-17 Thread Pat Double
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-utils

There are five logs shown in my log viewer, auth.log, daemon.log,
messages, syslog and Xorg.0.log. auth.log, daemon.log, messages and
syslog have historical files such as syslog.0, syslog.1.gz, syslog.2.gz,
etc. For auth.log, daemon.log and messages I can see more than the
current date in both the calendar in the bottom left and in the log
list. For syslog I only see the current date. I do have the files in
/var/log and they have the same permissions as /var/log/syslog and
/var/log/auth.log*.

I expected to see history entries for syslog. Thanks.

[Bug 219197] [NEW] gnome-panel looses location of locked items

2008-04-18 Thread Pat Double
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

I have the default gnome panel applets in the top right corner of my
panel. These used to stay in place pretty well. It seems now when I
reboot they will be re-arranged. I can move them back and lock but a
reboot will re-order.

I think the problem may be the persistent screen size settings. I have a
1920x1200 laptop panel and an external 1680x1050 LCD at work. When at
work I use 1680x1050 clone mode. Otherwise I use 1920x1200. When I login
from work with my last dimension setting at 1680x1050, gdm starts at
1920x1200 and then resizes while logging in. Perhaps the resize confuses
the panel. I don't remember this happening if I reboot from 1920x1200
into 1920x1200.

I can confirm this as well. Ubuntu 8.04 with latest updates as of this
comment. Same steps as Chris. Please let me know if you'd like the crash
report.

[Bug 199522] Re: Dim on idle does not brighten with activity

2008-04-14 Thread Pat Double
This is still broken for me. When I am on AC and the LCD dims and I move
the mouse the undimmed value is less than full. I have not tried to
inspect or change anything in gconf-editor, but I don't think I should
need to. Using the keyboard to adjust the brightness back up works,
although a dim-undim cycle causes the brightness to be one notch less
than full again. If I should file a separate report please let me know.
