I can't switch user from the Unlock screen dialog box (which is what comes up when I select "Switch From ..." in the power button drop down), I get same result. [Bug 597581] [NEW] Switching users does not work in 10.4
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm In Ubuntu 10.4 the "Switch From ..." option does not work, when I select that option it prompts me for my password and eventually puts up an error message as follows "Unable to start new display The name org.gnome.DisplayManager was not provided by any .service files" However I remain in the same account I started out in. To achieve the switch of users I have to log out and then log in as the other user. Bilal has responded to me (in Launchpad) that it looks like a Dbus bug and I should report it - which I have, Thiago then responded and said it must be a gdm or Ubuntu bug any takers? Thanks.
