[Bug 438136] Re: palimpsest bad sectors false positive

2009-10-29 Thread greyor
I have this problem as well, which was quite alarming just after I'd
installed 9.10 on my laptop. It's a Dell Inspiron 1525n that I've had a
little over a year -- and Palimpsest counts 858 bad sectors. The
reallocated sectors count is 68295.

The drive is a ~120Gb Samsung HM121HI.

I highly doubt that this drive has seen that much wear in the last year,
and I don't really have the money to replace it at this time, so I'm
wondering what's going on.

[Bug 44082] Re: GNOME Panel icons (on right side) move apparently randomly on session start in some situations

2008-12-03 Thread greyor
I've the same problem when I change resolution for a game -- one game I
play runs best at 1024x768, when I normally run 1280x1024. It looks fine
after I exit the game, but upon reboot my panel applets and items are
all shuffled about, as some have said above.

I would think locking them to the panel would do just that, which is why
I did it, but they've moved all around nonetheless and it's quite
frustrating.

[Bug 285122] Re: gnome-system-monitor crashes when on processes tab and realplay is running

2008-11-13 Thread greyor
I'm having the same issue, with or without firefox running, on AMD64
running Intrepid. It only started a day or two ago, and I don't know
what's causing the problem.

Hope these attachments help; I attached two backtraces and two
stacktraces, one while running Firefox and one not running Firefox.

[Bug 187136] Re: gnome-video-thumbnailer unable to process file

2008-11-01 Thread greyor
Chris, thank you so much. I've had problems with thumbnails ever since
8.04, and your workaround fixed it immediately for me. I thought I'd
never get them working -- I thought it was a Pulseaudio problem or
something of the like, but I guess GStreamer just wasn't happy. I'd
recommend this fix to others as well, as it worked brilliantly for me.

[Bug 81960] Re: gnome-power-manager says that HAL was unable to hibernate right after hibernation

2008-10-05 Thread greyor
I am also having this problem on a Dell Inspiron 1525n with Hardy 8.04.1
LTS.

My laptop hibernates just fine (using uswsusp), and resumes perfectly,
although gnome-power-manager throws this error at me in user.log:

Oct 5 16:43:55 Atreides gnome-power-manager: (greyor) hibernate failed

I hope this is fixed in Intrepid. I can always click the Don't show me
this again button, but I am hesitant to do so in case there is actually
an error that occurs.

Thanks for all your hard work.
