[Bug 658693] [NEW] evolution calender no longer usable

2010-10-11 Thread karlrt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I use evolution only as a calendar-viewing-program, because of the good
intergration in gnome. Since i tried to sync with my mobile-phone trough
bluetooth (tried multiple programs like syncevolution and opensync with
irmc and gnokii) it somehow corrupted evolution. This means that I
cannot any calendar data, it just gives an error.

No Problem, i thought, lets just erase all userdata (i use only
calendars anyway). So I stopped evolution, removed .evolution
.config/apps/evolution logged out -- Then i redid all the config (i
thought i had a fresh evolution) and the error (cannot add new calendar
data) persisted.

I even did the following: logged out, on tty1 I purged most of
evolution-packages (just the ones you cannot remove due to dependencies with
gnome), removed the userdirs on the console, shutdown, reinstalled the packages
-- error persisted
Even with a new user, or other old useraccounts, evolution-calendar stays
unusable!

i think we should rather file the bug against seahorse or users-admin or
whoever does not change the userspw, but does for ecryptfs. And i think
this bug is from extreme importance as the usual user sees just his

encrypted with the new passphrase!

2010-01-15 Thread karlrt
Oh, and i ran a strace-tracking, it showed me exactly the same as your
log. It reads all the thumbnails.

if you look at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=150483 and
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-
daemon/+bug/37643 i think there lies the problem:

in gnome-settings-daemon, they implemented a housekeeping plugin:

- Added a new housekeeping plugin to set limits on the size and age of the
  thumbnail cache

I think this housekeeping mechanism just goes crazy and checks my 32.000
thumbs every boottime for consistency. Perhaps someone could check if
thats it? Should we reopen the old bug because their fix braught up this
problem?

i agree these values are high, but honestly, i got enough space to have
these thumbnails saved, and its quite comfortable to browse through
large photo-directories without having to regenerate the thumbs.

the real bug here is that it takes g-s-d 5-10 minutes to evaluate if
some thumbs should be kept or deleted. Deleting files older then 180
days shouldnt take that long!

[Bug 378031] Re: totem won't play example .spx file

2009-05-18 Thread karlrt
well example will try to give instructions of reproductions (reproduces
as such on my machine)

1.) open example folder in home directory with nautilus
2.) open the sample .spx file in the example folder
(~/Examples/fables_01_01_aesop.spx)
3.) totem will open itself
4.) totem gives stated error without playing the file, but doesnt crash

the file itself works, tried it with my stable 8.04 install.

On Karmic, i also installed the medibuntu debs, but i think they are not
important here as they are just for copyright protected formats, not for
such things as the .spx format/codec. am i right there?

I hope i did understand your question for example, if not please explain
to me. A screenshot is imo just a waste of time as i can only show the
error-message allready described.

[Bug 211298] Re: obex gvfs crashes when trying to send files to mobile phone

2008-10-09 Thread karlrt
i dont get the crash no longer, but this doesnt matter as the behaviour
didnt change much from time::

sending from pc to phone only works if i am not connected to the phone (e.g. by
browsing the files before)
sending from phone to pc works for single files if i picked them by the phone
menu

browsing works, but i cant open the files, they wont get loaded (at
least the fotos) i can only copy them to hard disk. while browsing i
cant copy files to the phone, i get an obex error, and for opening i get
an error to.

so it didnt change much

fullscreen, so there cant be any reason for the screensaver to do
anything this early. AND wormux is played with the mouse, so screensaver
should stay idle!

so this is its own bug with compiz. Kurosu showed really good what
happens in the movie, please reopen this bug!

[Bug 211298] Re: obex gvfs crashes when trying to send files to mobile phone

2008-06-17 Thread karlrt
sorry, forgot about it as i dont use bluetooth that much (cause it
doesnt work properly)

$ /usr/libexec/gvfsd-obexftp host='[00:1E:45:AD:F1:96]'
bash: /usr/libexec/gvfsd-obexftp: No such file or directory
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd-obexftp host='[00:1E:45:AD:F1:96]'
setting 'host' to '[00:1E:45:AD:F1:96]'
Added new job source 0x63c830 (GVfsBackendObexftp)
Queued new job 0x63f820 (GVfsJobMount)
+ do_mount
send_reply, failed: 1
Mount failed: Host down

$ /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd-obexftp
Added new job source 0x63c830 (GVfsBackendObexftp)
Queued new job 0x63f820 (GVfsJobMount)
+ do_mount
send_reply, failed: 1
Mount failed: Ungültige Mount-Spezifikation

somehow doesnt lead to much (in my opinion)

since i reported the bug i played arround a lot to get bluetooth to work
properly, a lot didnt work cause of obex, i did a clean reinstall of
hardy-final, and now, things have changed a bit: if im not connected to
the phone sending files work, but not receiving any (even if i tell
ubuntu to let it recieve files)

then, f.e. if i wanna browse the device, i have to get connected: so
then sending no longer works, it leads me to a freeze of the sending
dialog while still on connecting, nothing happens (no apport coming
up)

but i can still browse my device, i can copy files in nautilus from one
to another end, but i CANNOT OPEN them (so to see the photos, i have to
copy them to harddisk and then opening them, strange if you open a test
in gedit:

Die Datei »obex://[00:18:13:56:c9:e…%20Stick/Traceability.txt« konnte
nicht geöffnet werden. means: the fiel xx could not be opened

[Bug 227373] Re: sending files to mobile phone does not work (k750i)

2008-05-06 Thread karlrt
somehow funny behaviour:

i found that connecting with obextool does work, but only if my phone
wasnt connected to ubuntu before (via default bluetooth set) so now i
tried to send a file with the default bluez thing, and it worked. all i
have to do is not to be connected before

but: if i then browse files, and want to send a file afterwards, again,
it doesnt work! and while browsing files, uploading or downloading
doesnt work (except for copy and paste to the harddisk)

so reproducing:

1.) make shure phone is not connected, but allready bonded
2.) send a file using send file option of bluetooth
3.) browse device using browse device option
4.) try to send a file again - wont work until disconnected again
5.) try to open a file in nautilus (mounted phone-volume) - will never work,
only if you copy file to the harddisk and then open it

question of all this is why?

[Bug 227373] [NEW] sending files to mobile phone does not work (k750i)

2008-05-06 Thread karlrt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-vfs-obexftp

on hardy 64bit

normal bluetooth is working good (i can use my phone as remote control
and so on) i can even browse files really easy, but if i send a file,
with normal right click on the bluetooth logo and then send file
dialog to my bonded phone, it just hangs!

same happens if browsing files in nautilus on the phone, i cant open the files,
nor can i copy any files onto my phone in nautilus, it says:
in german:
Fehler beim Kopieren von »MEMSTICK.IND«Beim Kopieren der Datei nach
obex://[00:18:13:56:C9:EA]/Memory%20Stick ist ein Fehler aufgetreten. Vorgang
wird vom Backend nicht unterstützt

means in english:
error in copying MEMSTICK.IND , While copying to
obex://[00:18:13:56:C9:EA]/Memory%20Stick an error accured. action is not
supported by the backend.

i allready tried a lot to get copying files work, but nothing helped me
till now, so obex file transfers to the phone are completely broken for
me. The only transfer working is from the phone to PC, but only when
copy paste is used. I cannot open files directly from the mounted
folder, but i can copy them to harddisk and then open them (i really
dont understand why this works if opening doesnt!)

if you need more information, pls tell me what to provide!

** Affects: gnome-vfs-obexftp (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 227373] Re: sending files to mobile phone does not work (k750i)

2008-05-06 Thread karlrt
ok, i removed gnome-vfs-obexftp, but i still get the same errors. I can
send files if not connected before, if browsing, i cant send files no
more, nor can i open files out of nautilus! The only difference is that
if i try to open a file out of the mounted folder - like a foto - it
opens eye of gnome it now says:

folder has no images (free translation from german)

instead of telling me something about obex...
