[Bug 330383] Re: MTP is preferred over UMS/MSC

2009-04-26 Thread muhalifsirin
after updating the system, problem arises again, and you have to do
Nicholas's trick again (I updated a lot of things, I don't know which
broke the system again, I guess it was gvfs update which broke it again)

[Bug 34247] Re: Trash always empty.

2009-04-12 Thread muhalifsirin
I have a similar issue here on Jaunty. i did not have it till yesterday,
but today, I got the problem.

When I delete something on my home folder, I can not see them in
trash(trash:///), but when I check ~/.local/share/Trash/files I see
those deleted files appear there.

This is a really annoying bug,Trash is a simple function that any
convenient OS must offer without hassle. It is strange in three years
this issue has not been solved and no solution or work around is
offered.

[Bug 34247] Re: Trash always empty.

2009-04-12 Thread muhalifsirin
Ok, now it is getting worse. Nautilus tells me that my trash folder is
empty (not trash:///, which always look empty- I am talking about
~/.local/share/Trash/files)

But then I check it form terminal and I see it is not empty. Moreover
bautilus itself tells me that folder is 300 mb(but magically contains no
files!!!). This is really driving me crazy now.

2009-04-12 Thread muhalifsirin
So here is I reproduce this bug:

1-Delete an item, (use delete key, drag and drop an item into a trash
icon-desktop-applet..etc, or drag and drop the item into an open trash:///
folder ; does not matter)
2- Item disappears
3-But the trash folder still (trash:///) looks empty
4-Search for the deleted item via PlacesSearch from the menu
5-You find the item in ~/.local/share/Trash/files (not surprisingly)
6-Check the specified folder using Nautilus, but it looks empty
7-Check it using Terminal, it is not empty. Also Nautilus itself tells you that
the folder is not zero bytes, it is 300 mbs(I checked the folder for hidden
items as well)

[Bug 34247] Re: Trash always empty.

2009-04-12 Thread muhalifsirin
OK

I guess this problem has something to do with mac4lin project (the thing
that makes ubuntu look like a mac). I realized i had this problem after
I installed that theme. It has this .sh file that automates everything,
maybe that was the problem,.

One more weird thing, when gnome-do works in docky mode, the trash app on
the dock works OK. But rest is still broken.

I am updating my steps for reproducing the error, and also attaching the
.sh file for installing mac theme to ubuntu:

0-Download mac4lin theme package for ubuntu from
http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?group_id=204373filename=Mac4Lin_v1.0_RC1.tar.gza=17712471

and run the .sh file to install it
Then proceed as follows to test trash:
1-Delete an item , (use delete key, drag and drop an item into a trash
icon-desktop-applet..etc, or drag and drop the item into an open trash:///
folder ; does not matter)
2- Item disappears
3-But the trash folder still (trash:///) looks empty
4-Search for the deleted item via PlacesSearch from the menu
5-You find the item in ~/.local/share/Trash/files (not surprisingly)
6-Check the specified folder using Nautilus, but it looks empty
7-Check it using Terminal, it is not empty. Also Nautilus itself tells you that
the folder is not zero bytes, it is 300 mbs(I checked the folder for hidden
items as well)
8-Gnome-do's trash app works fine in docky mode

[Bug 277309] Re: Missing suspend icon with non-human theme

2009-04-12 Thread muhalifsirin
As far as I understand the window that is opened by shut down is
looking for an icon named sleep, not gnome-session-suspend. If you
copy and rename all gnome-session-suspend icons as sleep.png, then this
problem disappears

This bug creates distortion when you use any ordinary gnome icon theme.
I am not a programmer or anything but I believe it should not be hard to
fix, just call gnome-session-suspend.png instead of sleep.png
whenever necessary

Nicholas A. Schembri State College PA USA 's solution seem to be working
fine for me. But you should restart the system after the procedure.

Now I can mount my player and also amarok 1.4 seems to recognize it as a
mtp device as well

Thanks for the suggestion

[Bug 147298] Re: [Gutsy] AD198x Analog: microphone misconfigured

2008-03-04 Thread muhalifsirin
well, I'd like to update my situation

sth strange happened today. all of a sudden, my microphone began to
transmit my sound, and I can hear my echo from speakers. well i don't
know what i did, all i know uninstalled every application related to
sound other than i needed, in a chaotic manner. i also uninstalled some
files related to alsa(some kind of drivers) also everything related to
OSS

but now, soundrecorder gives the same error message. and worse of them,
i can not use skype at all!! i mean it can be opened, but can not make a
call, because of audio problems it says. before I could call, listen but
could not talk. practically, i did not lose anything, well at least i
can sing to myself from microphone. other than that, i did not have any
problems with games, videos, music or internet.

2008-03-04 Thread muhalifsirin
well, for now I decided not to try the mic anymore. I will just wait for
a major solution to come.

I also tired the live cd, no solution.

I can not install feisty, because the only way I can get my graphic card
working is using the latest version of ubuntu(even 7.10 without updates
can not run my graphic card properly. I have to finish all updates
first)

So, I will just for now:(

-and I know that ubuntu is really good at using hardware, I tried a
couple of other distros which gave me nightmares(especially suse). The
only distributions I found well working were Ubuntu and Pardus

[Bug 147298] Re: [Gutsy] AD198x Analog: microphone misconfigured

2008-03-02 Thread muhalifsirin
Hi

Thanks for the answer:)

But as I said, I tried every single solution suggested before. Besides I
tried nearly every permutation of configurations.

Nothing works at all!

As I said, I tried onboard sound card, USB webcam-microphone and Diamond
7.1 sound card.

And everytime I try to test my sound capture device, I get this:

gconfaudiosrc ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink
profile=chat: Could not open resource for writing.

I also tried to launch them with gst launch, nothing happens

This problem really annoys me, because ubuntu was the distro which
solved my hardware problems, it was the only distro that could make my
Nvidia 8600gt, other than Pardus. I mean, come on, if you can build an
OS that can run video cards that other distros give you nightmare, why
can not you make a simple thing such as microphone run??I can say, a lot
of people probably have this problem, but since normally no one uses
microphone as much as they use their video card:)), most people do not
notice or they do no care even if they notice-it is not as vital as
one's video card or printer of course.so that this problem does not come
out as often as it should

at least this what i guess, i might be wrong as well

[Bug 147298] Re: [Gutsy] AD198x Analog: microphone misconfigured

2008-03-01 Thread muhalifsirin
I guess Ubuntu is microphone defective.

And I guess I am the proof for this deficiency, with using three
different alternatives(devices):

I have a usb microphone on my webcam, it does not work. I also have
microphone entrance on my onboard sound card, it does not work neither.
(both for skype and sound capturing)

I tried everything to make them work, bought a couple of mics, tried
every single combination on sound controllers and volume controllers.
Tried every solution suggested on forums(including the ones suggested
here).

Then finally I bought a pci soundcard which some people suggested was
linux-proof(diamond 7.1). And still I can not make my microphone work on
ubuntu. I live very far away to my country(in another continent) and I
desperately need to use skype. And it is really annoying ending up
spending more than a hundred dollars without any solution and I still
need windows to use microphone.
